Title: Nothing, but Sky~
Description: << Open to All >>

"It hasn't been to long I suppose..." A soft sound upon the wind, words in the time of middle sun, in which the sun was at a high point in the sky. A cloaked and hooded figure stood upon the deck of a rather compact, but sturdy ship of it's stature and size. A port had come into the hooded figure's view not to long ago, a few leagues out; she pre-posed and though she was out of the land of old to which she had spent most of her life. She had kept the hood up upon her head for safety and secrecy of her race. Many knew what a drow was like, and she just wasn't about to take that chance in this new found place. At least Not at this time.

A whistle blew, disturbing the figure's composure as the sound was heavy upon her ears, and soon bells were being rung as the ship began to bark at the port. The speed was being slowed significantly, sails were dropped from their masts, while other various men and women began to run about preparing for their arrival at the port. With another blow from the whistle, this time she had perceived it to come and quickly had put her hands to her ears, only hearing a muffled version as to compared to the ear shattering blow from last time. Bells Rang as the ship pulled it, slow and steady till it was right up to the dock.

The ropes were cast and tied down upon the dock and on deck; with the board loaded leading from the deck to the port the ship had finally arrived. The Captain was the first to disembark from the ship, followed by the first mate had followed. As the other passengers began to disembark, the cloaked figured had waited watching from a top as the others had began their arrival at the port, waiting for the last of them all to leave. Once they had all disembarked; she had finally made her movement walking down the board that connected her from the ship to port. Once her feet had hit the wharf, and was standing officially in the port. A sense of relaxation had washed over her and eased her composure; as she took the first couple of steps into the new town.

Vex sniffed the air, perplexed. Upon every morning she woke there had been the scent of the ocean- disgusting and as vile as it was it calmed her to wake to familiar surroundings. Today she just smelled- she looked around trying to place it- something. Something familiar. Something...

"Ack!" She said in sheer panic. "The booze!"

Indeed, the alcohol that she had so painstakingly collected throughout her travels had started leaking from the barrel she had put them in and lugged around everywhere. With a sinking heart she got out of bed and looked inside. She choked back a sob. In the middle of the night she must have rolled over and tipped the barrel... it was all wasted now. It was a shame. An utter, utter shame.

Then she laughed. All she had to do was get more, right? Steal, kill, buy- the options were endless. She could always get some more booze after all. Gathering the last remnants of an almost non-shattered bottle she took a swig- relishing the heady mix of her own blood and alcohol as the jagged glass cut her tongue and then dropped it.

Whistling a jaunty tune she headed for the docks. There was time to kill and employers to contact and stuff to do. So off she went.

Elisiryn - December 2, 2007 03:27 AM (GMT)
Bells chimed left and right, the sound vibrations greatly disturbing her concentration and most important. Getting on her nerve. The shout of the sea faring people shouting commands out to the ships left and right, the sound of the whistles and bells. Not to mention the singing that some of the drunken shipmates had commenced in, while making their departure from the ship to the docks. It was all nauseating to see and think of.

A frown had grown across her lips as the tune from drunken sailors began to fall upon her ears, mixed with the sound of the bells and whistles being blown, it probably wouldn't have been long before she had snapped and tried to tear some asunder. But to her avail she had kept her composure, at least for a little while until she could get out of the crowded areas. At that moment as the thought passed through her mind "When I'm out of the crowded areas..." a mischievous grin had began to grow across her lips though hidden underneath the shadows of her hooded cloak.

"Yes..Once I'm out of this crowded area..." She thought as she began to quicken her pace, moving about the crowded area; heading toward a shadowed in alleyway that seemed to contain a tavern at the end from what it looked like, but only time would tell when she would make it down to the end of the alleyway.

Ninelives - December 2, 2007 03:37 AM (GMT)
Vex stared at the scene in consternation. Usually, when she saw a dead body she ignored it and moved on. Death wasn't new in this realm of life- in fact, if anything, its inverse was the more peculiar. What *was* new however was the fact that the body was moving. She was pretty sure it was dead though: half its head was missing. And it was moving.

This bore investigation. Looking around she sneakily (because she was a sneaky, sneaky thing) crept closer to the groaning and shifting corpse and started prodding it with a stick. Or more accurately, her mace. But she thought of it as a stick because it was so stick-like and useless. It continued to groan and moan and she concluded, after much thought, that it was a fallen angel. Yup, no doubt. Acted and smelled exactly how an angel ought to.

"Braaaaainnns..."

Well there went that hypothesis.

Wondering what she should do she was just about to completely ignore it when she saw someone rushing down the alleyway and, without enough time to hide, merely got up, flushing. Normal people didn't poke zombies and she couldn't be sure if this one had seen what she was doing-

Elisiryn - December 2, 2007 04:45 AM (GMT)
The alleyway was littered with drunkards laying upon the ground, and some with their backs against the wall as they drank their booze right out of the glass, tilting their heads back and savoring every drop of the liquid. It had disgusted her, as she walked by looking to the men and women getting themselves drunk, or drinking themselves even deeper. If the stench of the alcohol wasn't enough to push anyone over, the loud yelling between the drunkards was enough to drive anyone crazy to a point!

When the door of the tavern had come into her eye sight, the grin had appeared back upon her lips as the gap between herself and the door began to close with each step she took. Her heart was racing as she would finally be in a place she could feel at ease, even if their would be more drunkards than usually, the tavern scenery and atmosphere had always brought a sense of somewhat calm to her, mostly because fights would be started in their. Not to mention everyone who was to drunk to know their money was gone by the time they left. A small smirk then began to grow upon her lips at the thought of the loot she would collect here.

Arriving at the tavern, door and grasping the door knob with her gloved hand. She turned the knob and walked into what she thought to be a tavern full of a few people, soon to find a tavern full of at least 100 or so people standing around, drinking or even asleep against the wall. A soft chuckle almost came forth from her mouth, " This should be interesting..." she thought as she walked in and took a seat in a booth that was stationed in the corner. Her head turning left and right looking to the people in the tavern making a list of who to hit first and who to hit last.

Whoever it was was past. Vex sighed in relief- that had been close- too close. She stared at the zombie creature. "What am I going to do with you?" She muttered before crushing what remained of its head with her hoof. It still flailed around relentlessly.

She sighed. She had expected as much. Zombies without brains tended to be... pretty darn weird.

With a shrug of her shoulders and a flick of her hair she moved on. That had been interesting but none too exciting. She needed some real excitement- she needed-

"Booze!" She said happily as she spotted a tavern. "Perfect timing!"

OOC - Just trying to figure out how I should go about posting each one. o.o

Removing the hood from her head as she sat in the booth. The lighting in the tavern seemed to be low enough to give her enough concealment in the shadows to which people could mistake her for just a plain elf perhaps, or even a human if someone really didn't have that good of an eyesight.

Settling back into the seat, resting her arm against the back of the seat; a smirk slowly became visible upon her face as she saw two men in a intoxicated state get thrown out. A soft chuckle had escaped forth from her lips, as she watched the scene.
"This day seems to really be turning around at this point."

OOC: It's just the lack of interaction. xD

Just as she was about to enter the said tavern Vex felt the breath leave her body as two other bodies impacted rather ungraciously into it. Grumbling and snarling she tossed them away- demon strength was demon strength after all- and entered the building in a foul mood.

The booze cheered her up immensely though. Not many places sold alcohol during the waking hours as well as the sleeping. She approved. Slapping down a handful of coins she ordered their strongest drink and was gratified to realize that this was strong, addictive stuff. She showed her approval by burping- there was a hint of flame at the end but not much, she hoped no one would notice. Her disguise didn't include being a fire-breathing half-dragon. She wasn't sure where that tongue of flame had come from either- she wasn't a bloody elemental rauko.

Maybe her power was growing? Happy at the thought she continued consuming vast quantities of alcohol, growing steadily more sedate by the moment. This was the life...

OOC - I think I'm getting the hang of it now, sorry xD.

The tavern seemed to have calmed down quite a lot since the last two had left, Resting her head in her right hand as she began to tap her fingers on the table with her left hand, waiting for the next incident to occur. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, as people were coming and going from the tavern at least until her eyes were diverted to the bar itself.

Turning her head gently as she cast her eyes onto the bar, their seemed to be many sitting and drinking, but one figure had stood out amongst the rest. At least in her own mindset and appeal, looking at the figure who seemed to be heavily enjoying the drink. A brief thought had crossed her mind as she rose up from her seat and moved about over to the bar. Taking a seat next to the stranger.

Reaching into her own pocket; only feeling a few coins were left from the voyage, she hesitantly placed them upon the counter ordering a drink mild in strength, but hoped it would be great in taste. As she waited for the drink, her attention turned back to the figure consuming the alcoholic drink. Though her voice was light, especially for being in this tavern, the words she made out could be understood.

"So, Are you new here or are you a familiar face to these parts?"

Ninelives - December 2, 2007 04:52 PM (GMT)
Vex whipped her head around. When was the last time a mortal snuck up on her? She peered blurrily at the figure. Dark skin? Maybe it was a demon. That would explain a bit. Not much- but it would explain *some* of the facets of this surprise.

Or, she sighed bitterly, it might just be the drink. She didn't know what was wrong with her- less and less alcohol was making her tipsier and tipsier. She didn't like the situation- not one bit. She wondered if she had been cursed somehow. She considered her fight with the angel and frowned. It was certainly a sadistic enough move to befit an angel.

She realized she had left the speaker hanging and answered after a moment's thought said:

"New-ish I suppose." She took another swig. "But I'm getting to know the town a bit better. Almost didn't realize there was a bar here- what about you?" She was glad her speech hadn't slurred- she was only at her third or fourth drink after all! Demonic constitution! Demonic constitution!

Repeating the mantra she listened to the other one as she chugged.

Elisiryn - December 2, 2007 05:03 PM (GMT)
Turning her attention to the bar host once the drink had been brought to her and the money gladly taken. She had then turn back toward the figure as she took a drink from the mug, only to be slightly disgusted in the taste, but what would be the point of letting it go to waste? As she took another sip and nodded her head a bit before answering the question.

"I Guess you could say I'm really new, I've been wandering a bit from here and their and stumbled into this bar not to long ago."

Taking another quick sip, but trying not to show a face of distaste as the liquid hit the back of her throat. With a horrid taste at least to her taste senses.

"How would you rate that drink?" she had asked out of the blue, the drink she had now, was not doing her any favors. Nor was it appealing to her taste by the second, it seemed as if this drink was just getting worse by the minute and less appealing by the second. "Would you rate it as being a drink worth buying in matters of taste I suppose?"

Ninelives - December 2, 2007 05:26 PM (GMT)
"Honestly?" She shrugged her shoulders, causing her retracted wings and thus making her altered physiognomy jiggle weirdly. "If Mazzer's brew is an 8 outta 10..." she swished the contents of her glass idly before drinking it all down in a single gulp. "This stuff's a 1.5... maybe a 2."

She looked towards the contents of the drow's cup and re-considered her assessment of the mortal. She definitely wasn't a devil or a demon.

"And that stuffs like watered piss. Barkeep!" She roared, shoving coins onto the counter. "Show the lady a real drink! Orckiller if you've got any!" She smiled kindly at the stranger as she waited for the barkeep to do (what was taking the git so long?) what he was supposed to.

"You poor, deprived thing. We'll set you to rights, dontcha worry." She smiled again. It wasn't every day she could do a good deed like this one. She felt almost... what was the word?... happy. Yes, happy. This was what good-two-shoes must feel like on a daily basis. Well, it wasn't a bad feeling she decided. She should do this more often. Get people introduced to alcohol, get alcohol introduced to them- let them have a fruitful, long-term relationship... humming to herself she strummed the table waiting for the brew to get there.

Elisiryn - December 2, 2007 05:43 PM (GMT)
The glass strangely didn't have any taste nor any levels of alcohol that she could tell from taste either, Placing the mug back down on the counter as she began to look to the figure. She had been immediately caught off-guard and surprised by the shout that she had emitted, which had almost caused her to jump. The lady had paid for a drink for her, it seemed like an odd thing to do, but who's to pass up a free drink. As she smiled kindly back toward her.

" So you know quite a lot about the drinks I take it? " Looking to her glass that she was drinking just a minute before a new drink had been ordered. A smile appeared back upon her lips as well as a soft chuckle emitted from her mouth. " My thanks to you, for leading me to a drink that will taste better than...this " Pointing her thumb to the glass as she pushed it away, hoping the barkeep would get it later. "..Also you must really like you drinks to give them ratings like that, I've never heard of anyone doing it like that before." Resting her arm on top of the bar.

" Makes me wonder though have you ever worked in a bar or ever considered working in one?" A smile visible upon her face once again as she turned her head to look toward her.

Ninelives - December 2, 2007 06:07 PM (GMT)
Vex choked back a laugh- and then considered the proposal. Was it as farfetched as she had first thought? She liked alcohol and most barkeeps she knew liked alcohol as well. It was like a match made in Heaven... or in the Abyss. She'd prefer the Abyss to heaven in all actuality. Those damn cherubims wouldn't stop signing and praising the lord and so on and so forth. So bloody annoying. Devils were much more respectful. Screams of the tortured souls were so much more soothing.

Then she shook her head sadly.

"Nope, I'm afraid it wouldn't work. Barkeeps have to give out alcohol... I just couldn't... couldn't bear to part with my lovelies." She glanced at the stuff the drow was drinking and grinned. "Oooo, not too bad there."

After a moment of silent drinking (which was necessary seeing as how drinking and talking was not conducive towards breathing) Vex asked: "So watcha up to here? Just taking in the sights?"

Elisiryn - December 2, 2007 06:30 PM (GMT)
It tasted like heaven!

As she slowly sipped savoring the taste of the liquid, much better than the other stuff she had ordered before. Thankful that someone had finally given her a drink that she actually liked. "Hopefully effects wont show..." she thought as she took another sip and turned her head looking toward the lady.

" It would be a shame to have to part with things you liked I suppose, it must be near impossible to hand someone a drink that you would really like. " A soft smile appeared on her lips as she took another sip from the glass and set it down on the counter.
As thought about the question and the life she wanted to live her, she slowly started to nod her head, speaking a bit louder this time than the last; possibly due to the alcohol? who knows, but strong indication would have one believe that it was due to alcohol.

" Yeah, I guess you could say I'm just traveling and venturing from one place to the next. Seeing what's here and their, never was one who could really settle down in one place for to long." Picking up the glass and taking a quick sip, emptying it, she had set it back down in it's spot and looked to her. "So, how about you? Just wandering from one place to the next or trying to find a place to stay at?"

Ninelives - December 2, 2007 07:05 PM (GMT)
"Damn right it's hard, sister." Vex said in reply to the drow's statement. She considered giving away alcohol (even if she had been paid for it) and shivered. There was no harm in doing it every once in a while but... on a daily basis... it just boggled the mind. She felt a profound sadness for all barkeeps everywhere. She shook her head moodily. Why was she brooding? They had chosen their fates... pansies.

She was feeling slightly drunk so it was no doubt for that reason that she managed to start talking truthfully after the drow had begun speaking: "I go where the wind- and my contracts- take meh."

She laughed then.

"I'm a killa-for-hire." She said roguishly. As it was, it was difficult to tell if she was lying or telling the truth. "So what do you do besides travelin' the world, hmmm?" She took another gulp of the amber liquid. It tasted different this time- maybe the alcohol was deadening her taste buds.

Nah, it couldn't be.

Elisiryn - December 2, 2007 07:53 PM (GMT)
Chuckling at the statement made by the lady she requested a refill and began to await for the barkeep to refill the class. Tapping her knuckle against the wood lightly, until her statement as to why she was her came up. Resting her knuckle on the counter as she turned her head toward the lady with a grin upon her lips and a soft chuckle escaping forth from her mouth. " Contracts, eh and killing those that need to be killed by those contracts."

With her lips still wide as she grinned, " This certainly is an interesting town." The grin had slowly faded away into that of a smile, as she looked back to the barkeep who had brought a refill. As she reached into her pocket and dropped the coins on the counter taking the drink taking a few sips of the liquid before answering the lady's question.

" What I do..- Hmm, I suppose that would depend upon the towns I visit and reside in at that moment. Their isn't much else to do, sometimes a few jobs here and their whatever they might be, stealing; or as you put it, it sometimes leads to killing as well." Taking another quick sip from the glass and placing it back on the counter.

" Though the killing has been rare at this point, and has turned into almost pure stealing."

OOC: Going to go AWOL soon, hate doing this to a thread but it seems reasonable to have it end here. Thanks! It was fun!

IC:

"Stealin' and thievin'?" Vex asked, half surprised she hadn't slurred the words and half-surprised that she had the presence of mind to realize that she was slurring words. "Didn't think you'd have it in ya, to be honest." She admitted, downing another glass. "Must be how ya got to me to part with my precious, precious moneh. Good for you!" She said honestly enough. Devils liked it when mortals played to their own darker natures and Vex wasn't about to be any different.

She slapped down another handful of coins.

"Have yourself some more drink, I've gotta get going. Got people to see, and time to kill... or is it the other way around? Anyways, it was fun." With a wave of her hand, the she-devil got up and, kicking drunks out of the way, exited the building.

OOC -

Understandable as it was only to be a departure from a ship, but last longer than I was expecting, was a fun and interesting thread Thanks :D.

IC -

A grin had passed on the drow's face as she began to flush a soft color as the temperature began to rise in her body due to the effects of the alcohol. It was much stronger than she had anticipated and much stronger than what she was prepared for. Barely catching what the lady had said before her departure, Ila had turned and made a waving gesture. Though she didn't know if she was waving goodbye to the lady or to someone else who may have been leaving at that time. " And...-You hav A nice lofe!"

Her posture and movements started to become wavy as she could barely balance on the bar stool sitting their as she held the drink in between her hands. She seemed to be smiling about something, it could have been about nothing in particular or even about something possibly the fact that she had a drink that she liked, but who knows now as she was drunk beyond belief.
