The light of the day shined brightly while the temperature did not match. It was a growing cold day but still beautiful none the less. The day was amazing and the village of Estolad was bustling with commotion. The sounds of people doing business and little children playing and laughing filled the air. How long could peace last in a village like this? Could life really remain care free like this? If it could then what was the true purpose of life, why are we here? Question that the young warrior by the name of Nobunaga Oda asked, himself standing at the gates of Estolad.
Nobunaga had come to Estolad for a particular reason. It was a rumor that a man by the name of Elzia was in the village. Elzia was one of the people that nobunaga had been searching for due to his orders given to him from the legendary swordsmen. The private organization had put a hit out on Elzia and Nobunaga felt he would go ahead and kill him for the quick money.
Another person on this hit list was a man by the name of Kazoo. The chance of actually finding both men in the same spot was slim so nobunaga had decided to wait until he finished off Elzia before he went after Kazoo.
Nobunaga waited outside the rumored home of Elzia until nightfall had fallen upon the busy village. The village slowly went to sleep as the town folks slowly ended their business and casted themselves off to their respective homes. The rumored home of Elzia was oddly one house that nobody came in or out of. Perhaps Elzia was still within the confines of his house and didn’t want to come out, or maybe the rumor was false. Either way it went, nightfall had struck the village and the truth would be revealed very soon. The moon peaked its way through the clouds and the stars illuminated the city nicely but kept enough shadow ways for perfect sneaking.
Nobunaga had reached the home of Eliza and without hesitation kicked down the door and drew his two swords. The house was not empty. The house was very big and was also equipped with a downstairs that led to what looked like deeper underground places. Eliza was there but he was oddly standing in the doorway ready to fight as if he had been expecting Nobunaga all day.
“You finally come” said Eliza charging at Nobunaga without thinking twice. A small smirk ran up Nobunaga’s face as he slowly drew his two swords of epic proportion. One was his Demonic Blade which could nearly cut through all metals and the other was his most famous blade “the lightning shadow blade.”
These two blades have hacked down the best of fighters and this idiot Elzia will be the next to die. Nobunaga quickly parried the man’s attack with ease and lowered his body for a sweeping leg kick. Eliza took the blow and fell as planned but instead of getting right back up, he crawled his way to the stairway that led downstairs and rolled down the stairs.
Was this man stupid? Who rolls down stairs purposely? Nobunaga shook his head and quickly followed him down the stairs. The stairs were a circular stairway that seemed to go down endlessly. The further down the stairs nobunaga and Elzia went, the darker and colder it got.
“Enough of these damn games” nobunaga yelled out as his anger had reached its peak. Running down stairs for an idiot ready to give his life away was pointless. After a few more seconds they finally reached the bottom of the staircase but it was so dark that nobunaga could barely see his own hand.
Within a matter of seconds light illuminated the downstairs showing a basement of the sorts filled with explosives. “Looks like we both die” said Eliza as the stairs behind nobunaga started to fall apart.
“We are one hundred feet below ground. I blow these you die. How does that feel” said Elzia picking up a wooden torch that was already lit with fire. Elzia the torch far behind him igniting a patch of wood in the far corner. From that a huge fire broke free from the wooden stack and slowly spread further and further. His plan was not to blow the building that very moment but make Nobunaga feel as if there was no way out.
“In twenty minutes this place will go boo…” said Elzia but was quickly interrupted as nobunaga gutted him with his swords quickly silencing him, but one huge mistake that nobunaga made was not getting Elzia to give him a direction on how to leave this hell hole. From the looks of the building there was another set of stairs that led up but there had to be at least six other floors to go through. Nobunaga had to find a way to get through all the floors and out of the burning house before the fire reached the explosives. How could it happen? Only time could tell.
After his ordeal in Lomedor Kazoo hoped that the same wouldn’t happen in Estolad. Having arrived to the small village rather earlier in the morning he had the entire day to try and figure out what to do next. Upon first entering the village he made a note to look around for anything out of the ordinary. Before coming here he made a note to dig a little into the past of the village. What he found he didn’t like, having learned that the village was often attacked by bandits and such. At the moment however all seemed calm, at least calm for a small village. There were still people going about their business as usual. Though the sun was high in the sky and quite visible it did nothing to take the away from the bitter cold, so cold in fact that he wore his cloak for the first time in weeks.
He spent much of the day within Kaima Inn watching as everyone else went along with their own business. Though he drank quite a bit he never touched alcohol, spending most of his pocket money on plain water and a few glasses of this odd flavored water. As it grew darker outside he had no idea what was to happen that night. No idea that another had put a hit on him. If he had known he might not have stayed so long in the inn, he might have left the village instead.
But he didn’t so as he finally left the Inn it was rather dark outside. The moon came out of hiding behind the clouds every now and then and the stars help to light his way. As he continued to walk however a new source of light came into view. A large bright glow was coming from a building ahead. As he neared it he realized that the building was on fire! Standing before the large house he wondered if any one was still left inside. He wasn’t sure but he couldn’t just stand there and watch it burn to the ground with out at least checking inside first.
Taking off his cloak he knew that he would no longer need it. With the fire in front of him he was no longer cold. And he was the crazy one about to run into the building so being too cold was the last thing on his mind at the moment. Though most the windows had fire spewing out of them the doorway was rather clear. With nothing left to do that he could think of he headed for the doorway. Waited a few more seconds before entering he then rushed inside.
While inside he continued to look around. The first room he could see no one. Quite a bit was on fire and it seemed that would be nothing left to salvage after this fire had its way. Continued to look around on the ground floor he found no one. In was only then once returning to the first room that he searched he noticed a stairway heading downstairs. Looking down the spiral staircase he could se that the fire continued all the way down to however far it went. The only thing left to do was to get to the bottom and search each floor as he returned to the top. Moving down the stairs he realized that the fires only got worse the further he got down. It looked as if the fire started somewhere on one of the lower levels.
As he reached the third floor down however the stairs no longer continued. It seemed that the fires had completely destroyed them making it impossible to get to the lower levels. He was sure that there might be some other way to get down but he didn’t have that kind of time. He would just have to settle with searched from the third floor up.
As he searched the third floor however he realized that no one was there. He was beginning to doubt if anyone was left in the building. As he headed toward the stairs to return to the second floor of the lower levels he was shocked to see a few planks had fallen over the stairs. The fire was weakening the entire building and things were beginning to fall apart. He had no idea how he was going to get out now. He only hoped that there was another way up. With that in mind he continued to look for another way up on the third floor. At least the smoke from the fire was bothering him much but he knew that he wouldn’t be able to breath this stuff for too long.
