Title: Arrival
Description: Sort of an introduction
Uebermenschen - October 14, 2007 02:23 PM (GMT)
Stepping from the small fishing boat, Sorte thanks the captain. The voyage had been Sorte's first, and, with any luck, his last. The simple looking man carried only an ancient, slightly rusted sword on his hip, and a lute-like instrument on his back. His clothes were very plain and worn, having several tears and stiches.
The man had there air of being out of place, not used to the city. In fact, he was from a small fishing village to the south of Lomedor, and had rarely gone more than a mile from his home. He had left his home seeking his fame and fortune as his grandfather had done. In fact, the sword Sorte now carried was a trophy from his grandfather's journey's, though it was now slightly worn and less potent than it once was.
Looking slightly lost, Sorte begins looking for somone to point him in the direction of shelter and general help...

It was a calm and quiet day, and Winter intended for it to stay that way, since she had now retrieved what she had been searching for for so long. However, Libra was not the usual weapons Winter would prefer, it was heavy and need two hands to wield it, and Winter proffered to be wielding two weapons at any one time. However she neither wanted to give up the sword, having searched hard for it, she wasn't about to throw away what she had.
Contrary to what Winter would admit, she looked terrible. There were numerous scars down one arm, and many more in places her clothes currently covered, and one of her eyes had a blood red stain lower down the iris. But she walked through the street as though she was the most normal person there, however she was far from it even if she didn't have so many cuts and injuries. The most obvious was her hair color, the second was her pupils, slitted like a cat or a snake. Although to Winter it was perfectly ordinary in every aspect. So she ignored the numerous stares pointing her way.
That morning, Winter had decided to stretch her legs, and see what walking around with Libra attached to her back was like, it wasn't nearly as heavy as it seemed when it was on her back, she only wished it would be like that wherever she took it. Eventually she arrived at the port where several ships were coming in with cargo and passengers. Winter stood by and watch as they did so, having no particular interest but watching to see what kind of people were coming in. Now that she had Libra she was more confident that she would be able to prevent any unnecessary battles or killings, something which she had been trying to do and failing for a long time. Hopefully now she would be able to fulfill her goal.
She leaned against the corner of a building with her arms folded, watching the men go about their business calmly, if Winter could she would probably have envied them for their normality, having nothing to do with the extended world as it was. She looked away, staring into the distance. What the generic people did was no concern of hers.

Walking around with no distinct destination, Sorte passes by Winter, noticing how rough she looked. That and the huge sword on her back made her stand out from the rest of the port's clientel. 'Well, if I'm to find some adventure, I bet she knows where to start'. Sorte thought to himself as he approached the stranger. "Hello good woman, would you be so kind as to point me to a place wehre I may be able to find some food and shelter? I'm a newcomer to this place."

Winter tilted her head back, gazing up at the sky and ignoring most of the people about her as she always did. It wasn't that she didn't like ordinary people, she just had no interest in them or what they did, however she still wanted to protect people like them from war and bloodshed. She didn't like to remember the reason she had chosen this path, and for almost three years she had been forcing herself to try and forget, but it always came back to haunt her in the end. Just thinking about it on this train of through was enough for her to recall part of her past.
She looked down again, clenching her teeth and trying to throw her thoughts on a different track. It was harder to forget something when it was the while reason for your existence, it only took a few years for Winter to work these things out by herself. She sighed to herself and looked back up at the people coming in from the port, they were a pretty mismatched bunch, probably from somewhere far off from the parts of Ea that Winter was used to.
Her eyes fell on one of the travelers moving in her direction, she thought nothing of this, since her current appearance was bound to attract some overcurious individual somewhere along the line. From here he looked fairly ordinary, contrast to Winter even in her normal appearance, although she took careful note of the weapon he carried. She pushed herself off the wall and looked over at the man, he was slightly taller than her and definitely older, by age and looks.
Winter didn't much like being referred to as 'woman', she had a name and she found anybody rude enough note to ask it before addressing her irritating. However her face remained blank and emotionless and she looked at the stranger with a cold glare, although it wasn't as sharp as the ones she usually gave, mainly because one eye was damaged. She looked away before giving the man her answer.
"There are some inns nearby the docks, places where fishermen and sailors stay mostly," she replied "I wouldn't really know, I don't visit inns if I can help it."

"Well, that seems a good enough place to stay," Said Sorte, his eyes never leaving the battle hardened female in front of him. "My I know your name? I am Sorte." Sorte began to wonder why the girl wouldn't look him in the eye as he said these things, thinking to himself that he had perhaps overstayed his welcome.

Winter gave Sorte the briefest of glances before turning away again and looking down, half wrapped up in her own thoughts.
"Winter," she replied.
A spasm of pain shot through her head and her wounded eyes shut tight only seconds afterwards. She looked up again a while later with one hand over her eye, a trickle of blood leaking from the tear duct.
Won't this stop already, it's been almost a week, why is it still bleeding?
She wiped the blood away as though it were a spec of dirt on her face and blinked rapidly for a few seconds, readjusting her eye to what was in front of her.
"Sorry," she said "I...Had an accident."
She gave the man another look, noticing that his eyes were still on her. She didn't trust people who stared too much, but of course she was still marked with a lot of battle-scars, so she should probably let this one go. She looked away again, lapsing into another wave of thought.
When she had fully recovered she would probably head to the temple of balance, hopefully to speak with the goddess of balance, and see what sort of council she would give, Winter held the deity in high respect despite her equal treatment of everyone above and below her, mainly because the goddess might share similar beliefs to her. Whatever the reason Winter wasn't the sort of person to look into these small things, so for the moment she focused back on the present, and the foreign man currently next to her.
"What's your purpose for being here?" She asked "buisness? Or just a simple tourist?"
She looked up at the man again, this time keeping her gaze upon him.

"A bit of both I'd say," Said Sorte. "I'm here for whatever adventure I can find, my path has lain upon the poorest of futures for too long, I will claim my fortune as my grandfather should have his." Sorte looks around. "So I should go to the docks then?"
