Title: Of Priests And Angels
Description: [P]
Enriel - October 1, 2007 05:29 AM (GMT)
There was something...magical, about the feeling of absolute peace. To be tranquil in both mind and spirit and be one with your inner self. Enriel basked in this wondrous ecstasy as his amber brown eyes watched several elven children string bows and shoot tiny wooden arrows into padded hay stacks. They missed their initial targets several times, but a few would watch their projectiles sail true, sinking into the blazing red circle in the middle of the square. Enriel let a smile sit upon as lips. It was always a joy to watch one's students learn. He turned away from the Archery Range, looking up at the crystal blue sky. Puffy white clouds drifted amongst it's vast image, obscuring the golden sun every few moments as it rained down strong rays of light upon Arda. The Salquedor Grasslands were very calm today, letting small breezes roll over it's tall blades of grass, sending glistening ripples throughout it's fields.
Enriel himself was occupying a rather old building, which was stationed near the outskirts of the plains. It was built to accommodate those who wished to be trained in the art of combat. Several teachers stayed here, as well as students. Enriel himself had been taught here most of his life. He had gone through many trials to become as skilled as he is today. His accuracy and speed were so well-known that he was requested to teach the younger generation of Archers. He couldn't refuse, having so much free vacancy between his trials as a Temple Priest to the Goddess of Life. Now that he had passed her tests, he had ample amounts of time to instruct those that wished to protect Nature and all of her wonderful creations. Enriel knew this was of the most importance. Evil was steadily growing more and more powerful. Even as Raku's armada was being defeated upon the moon's surface, his disciples drew to one another, forming a cult of powerful enemies that would soon try and lay waste to Arda. Enriel would never let that happen. He would train those that wished to fight back, to stand up for the power of light. It was his duty as a servant of Lothlömendil.
As he retired from the balcony and walked through the marble hall of the small castle, there was a knock at his chamber's door.
"It is open." He called, and watched as the large wooden doors parted and the servant of the house, Brendel, poked his stiff neck inside.
"Excuse my intrusion, Master Farshooter, but there are two hopefuls at the base of the stairs. Apparently, they were told to come here from Master Vailwater." He said, as he pushed his entire being inside of the room. He was a balding man of his late sixties, with silvery gray hair underneath his nose and chin as well as around his scalp. He wore a simple white uniform with black gloves, boots, and belt. The symbol of the house, a lion overtop of crossed swords, was large upon his torso piece. Enriel nodded. Lily had told him that she met with some interesting girls on her voyage as of last night. She said she saw great potential in them, and that with the proper guidance, they could help the House of Kinsmen.
"Yes, see them in."
Ruri Ishimura - October 1, 2007 11:50 AM (GMT)
Ruri leaned against the wall of the training building, arms crossed impatiently as she waited for Brendel to return. She let out a sigh, adjusting her position on the wall to make her wings more comfortable. She and her sister had opted not to wear their cloaks today because it was warm, so their wings were out for the whole world to see.
They had been traveling through the Salquedor Grasslands when they had been approached by a certain Master Vailwater, who invited them to come to the Outdoor Training Area. Ruri still had no idea exactly why they had been summoned there, but she knew that this was the training area, so it was most probably for training...and training meant that they were probably going to be fighting. She had been itching for a good fight for a while, and it had been a long time since she had had the chance to practice. Well...it had been almost a week, but it felt like a long time to Ruri.
It wasn't that she enjoyed battles. She didn't enjoy hurting people and knowing that other people were out to kill her. But she did enjoy fighting, and loved a good spar once in a while. Besides, when she fought, she was protecting Yuki, and somehow, that made her feel happy. She frowned, noting that Brendel still wasn't back.
"Hey, Yuki, when's that old bald guy getting here?" asked Ruri, turning to her sister. She wondered for a moment why her sister had been invited to. Yuki knew the basics of fighting with her staff, but she wasn't a fighter.
As Ruri was thinking this over, the door opened, and Brendel stepped out to meet them. Ruri quickly stood up straight, turning to him.
"Master Farshooter will see you now," he said, opening the door to let them in. Ruri stepped through the door and into the building, with Yuki behind her. The moment she stepped into the building, she could hear the sound of training going on, which only added to her excitement. She kept close behind Brendel, following the servant through the halls.
Farshooter, huh? Sounds elven... she thought as she walked through the halls, wondering what this 'Farshooter' person would be like. Brendel stopped in front of a door, and Ruri took it that she was supposed to enter.
The half-angel placed her hand on the door, pushing it open. There was only one person in the room in front of her, and she guessed that it was Master Farshooter. She stepped inside the room, turning to him. It seemed that her guess was right about the elven part, since he couldn't be anything but Quendi.
"Master Farshooter, right?" asked Ruri, "Someone told us to come here. I'm Ruri Ishimura, and this is my sister Yuki."
She gestured at Yuki behind her, knowing her twin would not willingly introduce herself, or if she did, it would be in such a quiet voice that nobody would be able to hear her.
Yuki Ishimura - October 1, 2007 12:59 PM (GMT)
Yuki stood straight outside the building, her hands clasped behind her back as she waited for Brendel to return for them. Unlike her twin, who looked impatient, Yuki looked almost nervous. Her green eyes were downcast, focushing on the grass, and she shifted position uncomfortably. Neither of them had worn their cloaks today, so her wings were exposed to the open air.
Both sisters had been traveling through the Salquedor Grasslands when they had been approached and asked to come here. Yuki wondered why she had been invited as well. She didn't have any of Ruri's combat skills and she was currently studying magic. This didn't seem like a place for a mage to train, and she was sure she didn't look the part of a fighter, so why had she been invited here? The younger twin had been taught the basics of fighting with her staff, but she was nowhere near as skilled as her sister.
The half-angel glanced over at her sister, noting that Ruri seemed excited. This did seem like something her twin would like. In spite of her nervousness, she was happy for her sister. Ruri would get stronger, which was what she wanted, and whenever they would fight, she knew that Ruri would protect her. She just wished she could return the favor.
Dria said the magic would come someday, and I believe her...but I wish it would come sooner... she thought.
Her sister turned to her, and Yuki frowned at her words, looking both ways to make sure Brendel wasn't listening. Her sister had a habit of saying whatever came to her mind, and not all of it was good. It was Ruri's mouth that had gotten them into trouble many times during their journey.
"Ruri, don't say things like that," said Yuki, turning to her sister, "It's hardly proper."
Just as she had finished talking, Brendel arrived, opening the door for them to enter. Yuki followed him inside, noting that the moment she entered the building, she could here the sounds of training. The place was obviously a training ground for warriors, which made Yuki wonder again why she had been summoned here. She was sure everything would be made clear the moment they met this Farshooter person.
Judging from the name, he's of elven descent, thought Yuki as she followed along behind Ruri, her hands now clasped in front of her as she walked. Unknown to her, her thoughts coincided with those of her twin.
Brendel led them to a door and she stepped inside after her twin. The only other person in there was definitely Quendi, so Yuki took him to be the Master Farshooter that Brendel had mentioned. She followed after her twin, closing the door slowly behind her as her sister began the introductions. When her name was said, she nodded timidly, standing behind her sister as she waited for what the elf would say.
We've been meeting a lot of elves lately...Dria, Troile, Paradis..and a few half-elves as well... noted Yuki as she stood in the room.
Alchemy - October 4, 2007 08:55 PM (GMT)
It was a pleasant day outside, far too pleasant for Alchemy to be stuck in some inn, serving a room half full with middle aged men with nowhere else to go. Well her job was barely ever like that, but she liked to joke about it alot. She had asked for a week off to take a short trip through the land, gaining experience for her slightly more violent side of life, of course since she only worked part time it was pretty easy for the permission to be granted, the innkeeper even said he'd agree to give her two weeks, but she wasn't that lazy.
So Alchemy was spending her well deserved free time, sitting in the grass and admiring the sword as it caught the light. It was odd, but she couldn't really remember receiving it, although she had a bit of a hazy memory, probably from getting drunk a while ago, and she guessed she still hadn't fully recovered. She liked the sword, it was long and light and she could easily carry it at her side and wield it with one hand or two. What she liked most about it was the rose calved lightly into the blade, extending halfway down, she continually took the blade out just to admire this decoration.
She sighed, peacefully. Standing up, she placed the blade back in its scabbard and set off walking again. It was a bright and warm day so Alchemy wasn't wearing much, a sleeveless black top, a short black skirt and black boots, she had a thing about black. Of course the casual dress did expose the collar around her neck and the bands on her upper arms, all three apparently burnt in, but the way she figured it people would be curious enough about her slitted pupils so she may as well give them the whole show, to be honest she was just as curious as they were about them. It wasn't that she couldn't remember when she got them, more the fact she couldn't remember not having them, almost the same with the sword.
As she pondered this she didn't notice arrived at the outdoor training arena, she'd heard of this place a lot from traveling fighters who said that it was a great place to train in just about every form of battle. It suddenly struck Alchemy that she didn't even know how to wield her own weapon, she supposed it was extremely good luck that she'd been invited for some sort of training. It was fairly random, but only a few days since she set out she met a person by the name of Vailwater, Alchemy had found it a very pretty name and seemed to be made up of two words. Well, one thing led to another and she eventually found herself traveling here.
"Well, I'm here so I may as well go forwards," she told herself eagerly.
Despite not knowing where to go she walked inside, wandering about randomly just for the sheer fact that it made her feel like she had a sense of purpose. She passed a few rooms, some teaching theory, some actually sparring. Yet all the people she saw seemed to be learning eagerly.
"Wow, I didn't know this many people liked fighting," she looked down at her blade "that's right, I haven't given you a name have I. I wonder what a good name would be."
She paused, thinking for a second. The rose on the blade evidentially meant something significant, so she thought she might base it around that.
"Ah, I know. Vyri-Sys. That sounds good, right?" The blade gave no answer, but Alchemy took it as red that it liked the name "right, let's go then."
She carried on walking until she stumbled upon a room with the door wide open, inside she noticed about four people, an elf at the far end, a balding man standing to one side and two young angels, she didn't recognize the shy one, however she immediately noticed the more talkative one was Ruri, having had a few 'incidents' with her before.
"Hi, am I late?" She asked brightly.
((Since Alchemy has her sword now, this is clearly set after the drunken bar incident so Alchemy already knows Ruri))
Enriel - October 4, 2007 10:33 PM (GMT)
After Enriel had dismissed Brendel, he turned back towards the open doors that lead to the porch, his hands folded behind his back. He was suddenly deep in thought without even realizing it. Was he truly ready for this? Individual students? Sure, he had taught many pupils before, but in large groups and with several other instructors. He didn't think he was skilled enough to have personal students, but apparently Lily and the others did. He still remembered her words after she informed him of her trip to the bar, which he had strongly disliked to hear that she was in such a place in the first place.
"You are one of the youngest talents this school has ever seen. We are graced by your devotion to help us teach younglings. It's your calling. As long as you believe, there's no height you cannot reach."
He smiled to himself as her voice echoed in his head. Of course she was hardly older than him, only by two to three years, but she was right, he was one of the youngest teachers at the House of Kinsmen. He had passed all the tests, had all the qualifications needed, and received numerous recommendations from some of his old instructors. He had nothing to worry about. This was no different than the pass two years. He would teach his students well and prepare them for the darkness that is slowly rising against them all. He just hoped his guidance would be enough. A knock at his doors brought his mind back to his surroundings. He turned towards the door and looked upon Brendel's image, as well as the two hopefuls.
They were young Angels, but by their unglowing skin and dwarfed wings, he assumed they had filtered blood. He smiled warmly to them both, and as he raised a hand to dismiss Brendel, a third girl appeared. This surprised Enriel, and he couldn't help but chuckle at her enthusiasm. The more...confident Angel stepped forth and introduced herself and her twin as Ruri and Yuki Ishimura. Enriel nodded and turned to Brendel.
"Thank you, Brendel. That will be all." He said, and Brendel gave a low bow and left them to their conversation. Enriel turned his back to them and moved behind his desk, where various rare and fascinating objects lay. Some spun on their holsters, others fidgeted slightly, and the rest simply lay still, like objects of the inanimate proportions were suppose to. He gave a soft sigh and turned back to them.
"You may all come in and sit upon the floor. Yuki, would you close the doors please? I am Enriel, a Quendi, but you may refer to me as Master Farshooter for our duration together. It's simply for respect of our future relationship together. Now, you all are here because the House of Kinsmen has observed vast potential hidden within each of you. I have been given the duty to bring that potential to the surface. I will teach you the basics of combat, the forms, and even the arcane magics that go with it." Enriel muttered, his voice growing more and more serious as he spoke. At the last phrase, he raised his hand as a glowing blue light enveloped his palm. A shower of bird down, made of pure blue aura, fell upon Ruri's image, healing the small bug bite she had most likely received from waiting outside.
Ruri Ishimura - October 6, 2007 08:05 AM (GMT)
When it came to the many strange and moving things lying on his desk, Ruri only shot them a glance. She was curious about them, but not as curious as Yuki would be to discover how they worked. She guessed that it had something to do with magic, but the older of the twins didn't particularly care about magic unless it was either heading towards her, being used by a mage that was supporting her, or would aid her in fighting in any way. In other words, if it was magical and it didn't have anything to do with battle then it was useless...at least, in her perception.
Ruri looked up at Alchemy as she entered the room, grinning at the red haired girl. She remembered Alchemy very well from the incident at the Drital Que'llar Pub. So, Alchemy had been invited here as well? This would be very interesting. She listened to Master Farshooter's instructions, frowning slightly as he told Yuki to close the door. She turned to her twin, opening her mouth to speak.
"Yuki, I can--" she began, about to tell Yuki that Ruri could close the door for her, when the sharp glance that Yuki sent her way made her rethink that.
She sat down on the floor as indicated, listening as Enriel...er, Master Farshooter introduced himself. She didn't understand half the things he was saying, especially about the House of Kinsmen and all that, but she did get the part about vast potentials and training. Another frown came on her face however as he mentioned learning the basics of combat.
She already knew the basics of combat. She had been taught them by her mother and she was fairly confident in her own ability. As for Yuki, well, she was sure her twin was excited about what he said about magic, but Yuki and combat were two things that never went well together. Before she could even think twice about what she was doing, she opened her mouth.
"But I already know the basics of--," she began, finding herself interrupted again by an elbow in the ribs from Yuki, who was sitting right next to her.
"OW!" she cried, quickly clapping a hand over her mouth as she realized how loud she had been.
She looked up at her twin, confused green eyes meeting her sister's emerald glare. Yuki's face was slightly pink for some reason, and Ruri knew the look in her eyes. It was a mix of anger and embarrassment. Somehow, she had managed to embarrass her twin yet again.
She frowned, settling back down onto her seat on the floor. Fine, she wouldn't bring up the subject if it embarrassed Yuki. She just hoped she wouldn't be treated like a child first learning how to swing a sword. She was quite good at using her katana, although she knew of many people on Arda that were much better at it.
Yuki Ishimura - October 6, 2007 09:04 AM (GMT)
At the sight of the various spinning and no doubt magical objects on the Quendi's desk, Yuki's eyes widened slightly. Unlike her twin, who seemed uninterested, Yuki stared in rapt fascination as a few of the objects were spinning around, looking like they were held in their place by magic. She wondered briefly what kind of spell held them there, and what kind of spell made them move. The younger of the twins made a mental note to ask the elf about this when she could. Her natural curiosity for all things magical was beginning to override her own shyness.
She nodded as the elf asked her to close the doors, turning to walk towards them. The younger of the sisters frowned as Ruri stopped her, about to ask her to give up her job to her. Yuki silenced her with a sharp glance, continuing to walk towards the door as her twin sat down.
She was grateful that her twin cared so much for her, but she would have appreciated it more if Ruri had let her do things on her own. It wasn't like she was crippled or disabled. She had both eyes, both ears, a nose, a mouth, two arms complete with hands, two legs complete with feet, and two wings. She might not have had the same fighting capability that Ruri had, but that didn't mean she wasn't capable of accomplishing basic tasks.
With a soft sigh, she closed the door, walking over to her twin and sitting down beside her. Yuki listened as Master Farshooter began detailing what they would learn, frowning quickly as Ruri began to embarrass her by commenting that she already knew the basics of combat. With a practiced ease born from many years of keeping her more reckless twin in line, Yuki gave Ruri a swift elbow in the ribs.
"Don't embarrass us, Ruri," whispered Yuki, her face turning red with embarrassment as she glared at her sister. Since Ruri had quieted down, she turned to Master Farshooter, bowing her head politely.
"You'll have to forgive my sister... she said in a shy and timid voice, "She...um...well...she needs to think more."
Her apology done, Yuki waited for Master Farshooter's words, wondering what exactly he was going to teach them about magic.
Alchemy - October 6, 2007 09:45 AM (GMT)
As Alchemy first entered the room, the first thing she did was take a very long and detailed look around it, as she did with any other place. What caught her attention the most though was the desk that master Farshot was seated behind, this must also have caught the attention of Ruri and the other half-angel, after all there were extremely perculiar things to look at. A few of them twitched like some sort of animal and other just span on and on, she wondered if they had a specefic purpose or were just there for decoration. Well, whatever it was she'd probably find out later on.
She sat down next to Ruri once the door was closed and they were alone in the room. For a moment Alchemy wondered why she was here, as far as she knew she didn't possess any special skills, magical powers, in fact she didn't even know how to use her own weapon, considering it just turned up and she'd thought nothing of it. So most likely she'd been invited for the sole purpose of being taught how to use it, so she supposed she'd just have to sit back and wait for what came.
For something to do she looked over at her two classmates, Ruri and the other one, Alchemy hadn't been listening when her name was mentioned. Although the two did seem related, they looked very similar apart from the odd feature and contrasting personalities, so she supposed they must be sisters.
Hm, did Ruri mention anything about a sister? I forget, Alchemy thought, scratching her head.
She let the thought go and looked up at Farshot again, mostly wandering what he would be teaching them.
He had mentions basics, well that would be handy, and something to do with magic, although Alchemy didn't possess any magical abilties that she knew of. She pondered his speech for the moment whiolst staring at the cieling absent mindidly, he'd also mentioned something about a house and kinsmen, however Alchemy had no idea what these meant at all, the only house she'd been around lately was her own, if it could be called a house. Reluctantly she raised her hand.
"Er, Mr. Farshot, sir. I have a question!" She said "who's this 'Kinsmen' and what does where he live got to do with this?"
