Title: An Ideal Spot Fit For Sleeping Beauty?
Description: Open (Yush another one)
Lindelle Videcleyra - September 13, 2007 12:17 AM (GMT)
Delicate, ashen feet, belonging to a jaded cleric, swung back and forth from the end of an empty port. It was quite warm, and every time it started to seem a little too stuffy, as if the wind could read her mind, a cool, refreshing breeze would caress her face. No ships seemed to be arriving today so there wasn’t as much as a crowd as there usually was, but there were still plenty of people out buying and selling fish and their catch for the day.
But for some serene moments of peace, Lindelle had made sure to separate herself away from the busy fish markets. Out on this empty part of docks, the only sounds that made their way to her ears were the cries of the seagulls or the distant footsteps on the harbor. But the most common, and also the most soothing sound the whole day was the gentle and steady resonance of the waves pushing back and forth against the marina.
Lindelle tilted her head back and gave a stifled an enormous yawn. It had only been a couple of weeks since she had started working at the Drital Qu’ellar, but those were very busy, and eventful days. That wretched pub was the thief of her sleep and today was the day that she would recover the lost time of rest. Feet still dangling from the edge, she eased herself to lie down on the wooden planks. It was astonishing how comfortable the ground of the harbor seemed. But right now, it felt that she could lie on anything and it would feel like a cloud dressed silken sheets. It felt like ages since she had been able to just sit, or rather in this case, lie, back and relax.
“Hmm...” The usually energetic girl extended her arms over her head and stretched. She wouldn’t fall asleep her, she told to herself. But she also deserved to rest her eyes a little bit, another voice argued in the back of her mind. The latter voice had won. She closed her eyes and they disappeared behind eyelids lined with thick lashes of a matching purple. Just so it wouldn’t get too quiet, and because she thought everyone was out of earshot, she began to hum softly to an enticing and calming tune.
She was not going to fall asleep. Not going to fall asleep, she repeated in thought. But it was such a pleasant feeling, and it was such a lazy afternoon. The sunlight shone down on her, and it was like a hand, stroking her cheek gently, seducing her into deep slumber. At the very least, it was succeeding at making her even sleepier than she was at the very moment. And the recurring beat of the footsteps in the distant were like a slow drum. Soft and musical. How could she resist?
Gibbon - September 13, 2007 02:40 AM (GMT)
Gibbon entered the marina, looking for a fresh catch and maybe job. Being a mercenary he always is low on gold and never happy when he does get paid. For it's never enough. He saw a stand selling fresh fish and went over to see how much they went for.
"How much for a fish?" he asked the rather overweight fisherman at the stand.
"Two gold" he said. "Two gold? That is a bit much how about I give three gold and you give me two fish." "Sounds good to me." the fisherman hands over two fish and Gibbon hands him three gold.
As Gibbon left to head towards the docks to eat his fish. He saw a shady figure peering over toward the docks. He walked over and confronted the man. "What are you looking for?" the shady figure turned looked at Gibbon then ran the other way. "That was odd, I have to see what he was looking at." He looked over at the docks and saw a young elven looking girl, lying on the docks. She seemed asleep, no one was around her. He went over to an adjacent dock and sat eating one of his fish. Briefly looking over to see the young girl sleeping. Making sure that man did not come to bother her slumber.
Xaki - September 13, 2007 04:17 AM (GMT)
Xaki walked calmly down the side of the docks, wiating for somebody to come rushing by. A moment later a person came running by with a metal mug in their hands and Xaki put his arm in front of the man's neck and watched as he went flying and let the mug go. "Kos." Xaki whispered as he blasted off from the ground to catch the mug. "Yes, another mug, another pay reduce avoided." Xaki said in acomplishment as he landed back on the docks and went down the way he was going. He looked back at the man and laughed at him. The man was drunk and thought he would leave with a metal mug.
He sighed and looked up at the blue sky which was dotted with white clouds. He shook his head and chuckled as a cool ocean breeze swept across him, cooling him off from the heat of the sun. His legs got tired of walking and he stopped for a moment. "Kos." He whispered again as he took off, flying several feet above the docks', stone ground that kept ships from damaging the edge of Lomedor.
He continued to fly until he saw Lindelle laying on the side of the docks. He came down near a fish stand and watched her, pondering why she was lying on the stone of the docks. He walked over to a wooden port and watched her in slight confusion until a man came up to him. Xaki didn't exactly want Lindelle thinking that he was spying on her and took off.
He reached an ally and stopped, looking back at her as she lie on the dock's stone. He let out a sigh and shook his head as he layed his body against the side of a wooden building.
Lindelle Videcleyra - September 13, 2007 06:07 AM (GMT)
Lindelle wrinkled her nose at a distinct smell in the air. That smell...am...am I in the pub again? she thought. Did I fall asleep on the job?
She decided to keep her eyes closed. The boss is going to kill me. Lindelle grimaced at the thought of being scolded like a little girl by the barkeep. And she was having such a nice dream, too. But... the last time she was working she hadn’t recalled the pub having any seagulls...
Her eyes fluttered open and she shot up, hair flying wildly as she looked around hastily, already preparing an apology in her head. But there was no one. “Oh...” she said laying back down. Suddenly the still, salty air filled with her fits of laughter. Now she remembered. She had taken a cat nap on the dock. And it had been quite comfortable. Well, at least earlier it had been.
Lindelle took a deep breath in, trying to stop herself from looking insane to any passerby. The stench of fish filled her nose and she looked around more carefully this time. Lindelle had been sure to move far away enough from the fish markets to avoid any unpleasant smells or distracting sounds, and it would have been almost impossible to miss a ship coming in. But the reason of the stench, she found was another man on the port who seemed to be eating some fish. She cocked an eyebrow to no one in particular and wondered why he would have a reason for being here. But only moments later, she shrugged off the thought and began to close her eyes ready to take another snooze. But the smell!
A sigh escaped her lips and she sat up and looked over at the raven haired man nearby. She wouldn’t be able to fall asleep to such an odor so instead she’d try conversation. Her lips parted more than once and successfully closed every time after, as she tried to figure out what she was going to say. But there was nothing she could say. Except-
“Hello, sir. What are you doing at the empty ports on such a fine day?” She tried to ask casually, but to no avail. Her tone clearly voiced her curiosity. Lindelle gave herself a mental slap. And it had been such a rude question. For goodness’ sake, she sounded like a complete dumbbell. Maybe she should have tried taking classes that taught her to be more charismatic.
Xaki - September 13, 2007 06:27 AM (GMT)
Xaki let a sigh pass through his lips as he looked up at the sky. A beautiful day with the cool ocean breeze was the perfect time to play music. he thought about his Berimbau that he usually carried on his back and forgot about. He dismounted it from his back and pulled a cord that was holding the second piece to the berimbau. He sat the instrument up and started to tap at it with the smaller piece.
The berimbau's sound echoed and got pushed around by the ocean breeze, spreading the sound further as he began to play. He began to tap on it rythmically as he started to get a tune to begin flowing through him and the berimbau. It's sound was played beautifully although it sounded like an off-set intstrument, but it still sounded beautifully to anybody who listen to it.
Xaki lost himself to the rythm he had created with his musical instrument as he closed his eyes. People began to gether and listen to him as he played, tossing some coins into the metal mug he had put down so he could play. He tuned out the sound of the coins as he continued to play, dismissing it as a fish marketer making another sale.
The fishermen closed up their shops and listened around to the music as well. The cool ocean breeze made it easy to concentrate and not worry about the heat, while the small space of the alley worked as acoustics for the berimbau and spread it's sound even further. Xaki's intention for this tune was to describe this day on the docks. When he opened his eyes he was suprised to see people gathered around clapping and cheering for him. He loked down at the mug and saw that it was half full.
He closed his eyes and began anotehr tune. It was full of the same emotion as the last one but without the same feel. Xaki played this one as he thought about the mosnterous men he had encountered throughout his life and once again tuned out all outside sounds.
Jaina - September 13, 2007 12:19 PM (GMT)
'Another day, another fish to catch.' Thought Jaina as she walked toward the dock. Last time she was here it was not long ago and her visit here brought the desired success. That was the reason for her returning to try to find the same man as the last time and she was hoping that the have information about her way hom just as the last time. As Jaina walked the streets she have summoned a water elemental to keep away pests and vermins (thiefs and their ilk) because it was impressive creature and strong one. And it was doing great job every thiel and rogue was thinking twice beffore attempting anything agains the blind wizzard.
when she neared the very dock she heard some strange music she didnt liked it much but it was better than nothing. As she went near to the port the music got louder and louder. When she was at the source of the musicher oppinin changed about it and she found it relaxing and she stopped to hear some more of it. But she have lost control over her elemental and it ran rampant not that it touched anyone or destroyed something but it was odd to see a creature made of water to move around. Then it approached the dock Jaina could sense and she was having a glips of immages from it eyes and she was that it was headed toward some girl and a man.
When it was few feet away from them Jaina was still unable to regain control over it so she decided to get rid of ti. Then she said " Nrael retteb sresol uoy nrub ot emit!" Then she shot a fireball with tremendous power as a catapult and after few moments it hit the elemental and it turned into vapour disapearing. Then she walked to the port using her staff as a walking caine and when she was few meters away from them and she asked them "Did it harm you?" because she was conserend for them and hoped that they are fine.
Gibbon - September 13, 2007 05:22 PM (GMT)
Gibbon just got done eating his first fish. When the young elf woke and asked him what he was doing at the docks. He saw she came off curious and just smiled and said. "I am just enjoying some fish. Would you like one?" He doubted she did and just let the elf be.
He heard off to the side a nice melody. He looked over and a group was gathered near a man playing an instrument he never say before. It was a nice tune though. He wanted to go over to see closer but opted to stay and finish his fish.
He ate away at his fish, when a woman with a water elemental moved closer to the young elf and himself. This was very strange, someone summoning an elemental in broad daylight and in a city. "Very odd indeed." he thought. As she came within striking distance of the elf and himself. She conjured a fireball at the elemental wandering toward them. The burst made him jump and drop his fish in the water. She asked if they were alright. All he could think was to curse her out. "Are we fine? No you shot a fireball at a water elemental and scared the fish right out of my hands." he was on edge after that and stood wonder who this woman was. "If I may ask who are? Cause that there was very odd."
Jaina - September 13, 2007 07:50 PM (GMT)
"I'm VERY sorry. I never ment this to happen i lost control ever it.... never happened before." THen the nam asked who she was and as it was appropreate she responded "I'm Jaina Proudmoore. And about the fish... i will buy you two more. you jsut have to tell me from where." THen beofre he told her where the fish was selling Jainathought that they might want an explenation about why she hav summoned a elemental in the city and so she told "I know that it is strange to summon a creature in daylight. But when you are blind you have to keep the thielf away somehow and what better whay than a creature they cannot harm? And can you show me from where to replace your fish." There was conserne and sincererety in her voice because as Jaina said she have never lost control over the elemental untill now. And this still eluded how could it have happened. Then she addresed the woman and asked "Miss are you alright? If any of you is harmed i can heal your wounds and whatever else i might have caused."
Lindelle Videcleyra - September 15, 2007 03:56 AM (GMT)
"Hm?" Lindelle looked up at the other woman. She blinked mildly confused, still dazzled by the melody in the distance, awed by the powerful fireball that seemed to come out from no where, and stunned by the smell of so much fish.
"Oh, uhm. Yes. I'm alright. And it's fine I assure you." She flashed a sweet grin. "If I was hurt at all I should be able to take care of myself. Otherwise, I wouldn't be much of a cleric, now would I?"
So much for a nap. "Ah, well..." She said voicing her thoughts. Least she'd have company for the day. "Thank you, by the way." She said politely to the other woman. "You know, for offering to heal my wounds. You don't meet too many kind strangers. Well, at least genuinely kind strangers."
(OOC: Sorry you guys for making you wait. And for the short post. School and craps. Mmkay now it's weekend so I'll rp away ^^)
Xaki - September 15, 2007 06:49 AM (GMT)
As Xaki finished the second 'show' he looked up at the metal mug and saw that it was full. He turned to the people who were apparently wnating another song. Xaki cocked his head to one sigh and sighed as he gace into them. "Okay, but no more donations, the mug can't hold it all." Xaki said with a small smile as he leaned up against the wall once more and closed his eyes as he thought of another one to play.
He thought for a moment for the perfect thing to play about. He looked up to the sky as he thought and thought of life in general. He started to shake his hand and start playing. The tune Was slow and calm in the beinning but quickened as it got further in. A smile came upon his face as he played this, rocking his body slightly to go in tune with the music he was playing.
Joyous thoughts filled his head as he began to space out, stoppnig at several points before continuing to play. His breathing matched the rythem of the music and gave a small chuckle every several moments as he played. He began to click his tongue against the roof of his mouth as he played.
Everybody who was gathered around to listen to it enjoyed it as well although the inspiration for the music was unknown to them. A cool ocean breeze swept across everybody there, but they did not notice, instead they were afixated on Xaki while he played his Berimbau. He thought about what would happen after he finished but he already knew, people would ask him questions, he would gladly accept them and spread knowledge about the Berimbau and Capoeira and hopefully bring it back to life on Arda.
Jaina - September 17, 2007 07:50 PM (GMT)
Jaina was very suprised that she wasn't angry or mad. "Cleric or no cleric it was my fault so i wish to help." And she was even mor suprised that the other woman even thanked her for offering to heal her wounds and that it it is hard to meet strangers who care about others. "No need to thank me. And indeed it is hard to find some kind strangers." Then she offered her hand to help her get up because the voice was comming from below her. After that she said to both of the victims ofthe fireball "Since it was my bad and i owe you a fish let me take you for a breacfast... or llunch... or wahtever you like it is on me." Then she gave a warm smile hoping that they will agree and thus she can make for the 'attack' she have caused.
