Title: The Calming Ocean
Arthur Paendrag Tanreall - September 11, 2007 02:44 PM (GMT)
Arthur sat on the beach looking out onto the wide ocean. The large waves crashing against the beach and the gulls soaring above. The scene was just right for Arthur it was calming to him. Lately he had been losing his calm, losing his composure, his anger had become harder to control and he went into rages he could not explain. He felt strange urges to go out and do deeds, terrible deeds. To him it seemed almost as if something was calling him to be the very thing he had sworn to destroy. He sometimes felt a darkness gripping at his heart, and his dragon inside him somehow agreed with the darkness.
The dragon and the darkness told him to go out and do things he had never done, the very things the evil dragons he had killed had done. Of course some of the things the darkness called for were also what good dragons did as well. He was fighting this darkness with every essence of his being, the dragon that was him did not help, and the dragon wanted the human taken over. This had been going on since he had stopped slaying dragons, and had been growing stronger every day. He sighed a little the ocean seemed to clam the darkness and the dragon a little as well. Arthur did have to admit that something’s that they both said did make since, to say Arthur was more dragon than human was an understatement, if he could he would spend every living moment in his dragon form, he was so much a dragon that the only thing that would make him a pure dragon is being born one, the only thing was there was little bit of human left inside him.
It was fighting hard to, it wanted to keep itself there and Arthur wanted it there to, he could not be totally dragon till he had Excalibur in his hands and what was supposed to be his was his. He could not afford to go totally dragon yet and that’s why he fought the darkness and the dragon. He was not losing exactly but he felt like he was but he knew he wasn't the only thing that stopped it was the peace of the ocean or the loneliness of the mountain. Arthur sighed his father had once told him this might happen and that the only thing to do was fight it until you could not fight it anymore, then let it become you and bend it to your will or else it would become you and you would no longer be yourself.
Arthur then leaned back a little and sighed again and said," I must fight it, I can't let it become me, I can't afford to let it become not until Excalibur is mine'. He thumped the ground and his anger rose but he calmed it by again looking at the calming ocean
Jaina - September 13, 2007 09:16 PM (GMT)
Jaina was not sure whey she walked toward the coast she only knew that something made her go there. When Jaina was thinking she was not sure of anything after she lost her sight bu few times she felt compelled to go somewhere and usualy it didnt end up good. But if there was a battle to be fought she would fight no matter what. Jaina only hoped that this time was diferent from before because she didnt like to fight at all. It was sunny day and the sun shined high above the ground and caressed her skin and the birds singed. Jaina found all this very relaxing for a change and for the first time she enjoyed a day since she have arrived.
After few more minutes of walke Jaina could hear sound of the waves which were crashing into the beach. When she reached the beach itself she stayed still for few momments and listened to the water tryng to immagine how it look like because she have never seted foot in this part of Arda. As she was listening she sensed that some one else is there it was a familiar and changed somehow but it was the same. How could Jaina forget how she felt when she was around Arthur. She felt honored and inspired by his pressence those were feelings like no other. Then she asked "Arthur is that you?" turning her head toward the land so if it realy was him she would face him.
Arthur Paendrag Tanreall - September 15, 2007 12:37 AM (GMT)
Arthur looked up to see Jaian and he smiled. He chuckled a bit and said," The one and the only Jaina, the one and the only". Arthur then went back to his view and then said". I come here sometimes to think, or get away, now though, I am fighting a darkness". He sighed and said," Lately I have been feeling a darkness gripping me asking me to do things that I cannot do. The ocean clams the darkness as eventually we all feel darkness grabbing for us, and hopefully the darkness will go away".
He sighed and continued to lookout at the sea and then said," Its been awhile Jaina, may I ask what have you been up to". He needed conversation it kept his mind off the darkness and on somethign else. Arthur waited patinetly just the same, it was enough to jsut sit and look out at the ocean.
Jaina - September 15, 2007 10:21 AM (GMT)
Jaina smiled when Arthur said 'the one and the only' and when he said that he is fighting the darkness inside him she knew exactly what he ment. "I know that you porvably dont want to hear this. But in my world when a dragon or somebody else was fighting the darkness he was drinking from a magical well. But I guess there is no such well here in Arda." Then he gave a sigh and asked Jaina what she have been up to. "Well i have been missled few more times since we last met. I almost got killed on few ecasions i have been shot at, cursed, one time i almost drowned. You know the usual stuff." Then Jaina smiled as she thought what compelled her to come here. It was not just to chit-chat with Arthur altho it was nice to talk to some one from a time to time.
Maybe it was from the ime or the sound of the waves but a feeling of safety and calm overcame Jaina. "May i ask you for a litel favor? I usualy dont ask some one to do this but can you describe me the sight of the beach? I think it is beautiful but i cannot see it." And Jaina awaited reply she hoped that he will agree to describe the ocean and the beach.
Arthur Paendrag Tanreall - September 18, 2007 06:37 PM (GMT)
Arthur listned to her and he felt a little saddened by it. While he had been living comfortably wherever he went others had faced the hardships he proffessed to trying to stop. He sometiems felt like he needed a good kick in the head. He smiled though when she asked him to describe the beach. He said," What words I have could not describe the bauty in front of me, the words of humans could not describe the beauty, but possibly the words of a dragon". He paused thinking and then said," As a dragon would say, think of the most beautiful flower in the field, the beautifullest sunset in the world, and the one you love and you have what this sight is, not very poetic, then again I was not speaking in true draconic form, but you get the picture".
He sighed to himself and then said," Losing your sight is a terrible thing, but there is something more terrible, losing the sight of what and who you are, and that has happened to many people, better to lose your eyes than lose yourself I say". HE chuckled hoping that what he said would not make her depressed but instead feel better about what had happened to her eyes.
Jaina - September 18, 2007 08:46 PM (GMT)
JAina could only feel sorry that, she is not able to see the beach. And when Arthur gave the description, it was not exactly what Jaina expeced but it was better that the darknes. "I...understand." She said with giving a sight between the words."I appriciate it. And i thank you." Then whe he said that many people have lost sight of what, they were Jaina felt sad, because when shte thought abut the blindness only hatred and rage were risen. But after few secnds Jaina was able to get rid of those feelings. "Once a friend of mine told me. 'Lose your wealth and you lose nothing, lose your health and you lose something but lose yourself and you will lose everything'." Then she paused for a second and said "And i'm happy that, I have returend the faith in my self, and the time i doubted my abbilities is behind me..." And it was partialy ture, then after few secnds she asked him "Is there any way to help you fight the darkness? I will gladly do anyhting what i can to help you." Jaina hoped that, Arthur will agree to her proposal.
Arthur Paendrag Tanreall - September 19, 2007 02:09 PM (GMT)
Arthur smiled at her and looked back at the ocean and said," No there is nothing anyone but I can do, I have to fight it myself or else it will grow stronger". Arthur knew what would happen if someone helped him, the darkness would go away but then come back ten time stronger. What Arthur really needed to do was like he did with all those dragons he had killed, was go gladly and dance with death. He then sighed and said," Thank you anyway, but this is just another path in the long journey of life, its not time for me to wake from the dream yet".
He chuckled sadly at that as he doubted very few knew what waking from the dream meant, but he wouldn't explain it unless someone asked. He then said something to what she said earlier," It is good that your faith is restored in yourself, and that you no longer doubt your skills that is the first path to recovery". Arthur knew tha for truth he had seen it many times before but had never trully experienced it himself. He sometimes wondered if his ego and pride got in the way of him experiencing the hurts of others and sometimes those answers were yes.
He then smiled and asked," You don't mind if I ask you something" ? He looked at her and decided to ask anyway," If you could have yoru sight restored right now would you accept it being restored or would you keep it as a reminder to yoruself"?
Jaina - September 20, 2007 12:53 PM (GMT)
When Arthur said that she can’t do anything, Jaina felt useless. She knew how hard it is to fight with the inner darkness, and that it can take over you with ease if you do not fight it with all your strength. And in that time the only thing that can help you are your friends. When Arthur said that it is not, his time to wake up from this dream, Jaina wondered what he is talking about “What do you mean by ‘It’s not time for me to wake from the dream yet?” Then he said that it is good that Jaina here returned faith in her “I could not do it without your words when we met in the inn. And it is I who should thank you, for your words. And what is the next path to recovery? ” If he knew what the next path was, she would be very happy to hear it.
When Arthur said that he wish to ask, Jaina something she nodded agreeing. But his question was most surprising, and interesting. “Well…” Jaina was not sure how to answer to such question. “I suppose I would agree…well…I…as you may know, we wizards learn new spells by reading. But if my sight was restored, I would venture all over the world to see everything… every mountain…. But... I think that I would disagree in the same time… it was my fault that I lost it… and it is my responsibility toward me and toward, others to restore it by my self.” Arthur’s question confused Jaina very much, more than she could ever expect.
“It is not the way of my bloodline to have things done easy. My father taught me that if I want something I should fight for it… or die trying. But I would agree to be restored for a day so I can see one person once again, and then I can search for the cure by my self.” Jaina thought that her answer didn’t made much of a sense to Arthur, yet she hoped that he will understand her.
Arthur Paendrag Tanreall - September 20, 2007 02:17 PM (GMT)
Arthur looked at her and smiled and said," By that reponse are you ready to be fully healed". TO explain what he meant he said," Dragosn ask certain questions of certain people to see if they are reaady for certain destinies and certain paths, if you anwer wrongly or in a way that a dragon would sense ill intent your are not ready, but if your anwer correctly or in the sense where a dragon can see only good only then are you ready, its a dragon thing, I learned it from my father".
He then leaned back and answered her question abotu the dream," Dragosn and half-dragons see life as an on going dream one which must all eventually wake from even those who are partial immortal like elves and us, to wake from the dream means we have died and passed on to the real life, so thats what I mean when it is not yet my time to wake from the dream". He sighed and said," Its an old belief started by my grandfather the first Nar'Vaeg, the first of the War Dragons, when he was created he belived it was from a spirit in the realm of Aman who had fallen asleep as such he passed this belief to other dragons and eventually they all believed life was a dream".
He looked back at Jaina and said," The path to recovery for me, I am not sure it lies three ways each as dangerous as the next, the first path is the path of war where there is a battle between my will and my spirit, the second is the path of destruction where I let it take control and I am no longer the person before you, the third is a path I must eventually walk and it is the path of love". He paused for a moment and then continued," It is the least dangerous but possibly the one I both fear and want the most, I would prefer it but it is difficult for me, love escapes me I know a fathers love, a mothers love, a sibligns love, but a womans escapes me, I am a half-dragon and any one I choose would have to live wit hthe possibility of beign an outcast, and possibly dieign while I live on, and the children would have to deal with the same". He paused agai nand bent his head and then said," All three are difficult and deadly and in that I am lost to a design that was set when time was made, and soon a path will be chosen for me if I do not choose oen for myself".
Jaina - September 21, 2007 10:54 PM (GMT)
When Arthur explaned about hte dragons, Jaina was not so supprised because she has heard that some of the dragons in her home asked the same questions. But they would posses the powers to heal her sight if they deem her ready to be healed, as Arthur did. When he said about the dream, Jaina found it very interesting 'Youre life to be a dream. Whn you die you go to your real life as something more than flesh and blood.' It was strange for her that his grandfather was created because usualy dragons are hatched from eggs.
During that time Jaina remained silent, because she didnt want to interrupt him. When he finished with the explenation ofthe three roads to recovery, Jaina gave a sad chuckle and said "I...wish there was something i could do about you." Jaina once again felt helpless and useless. But she also have walked paths similar to those who Arthur needed to pass in order to recover. When she was about to become a wizzard not apprentice, Jaina was required to fight her dark side and to fight in general, but also to think upon her actions and jidge herself. "If there is anything... wahtever it is, with which i can help you just tell me."
(ooc:sorry for the late reply i didnt have the time to reply :dazed: )
Arthur Paendrag Tanreall - September 25, 2007 11:17 PM (GMT)
Arthru smiled and said," There is nothign really unless you know the hiding place of the sword Excalibur". He doubted she did because none save the dragons knew where it lay hidden and they would not tell because they were sworn not to. Even his father could not tell him and his father had been alive since 1,000 years after the beggining of time.
He then explained osmethign earlier on what he had said. It was not secret but dragons rarely told their history and only to those they trusted. By tellign her this he would shwo great trust in her. He said," By me saying what I said about my grandfather being creator, I meant he was one of the first dragons, he was made not born, he was created in a joint effort by both Life, War, Chaos , and Darkness, he was the first of his kind but he will not be the last". He paused for a minute and then said," As I said my grandfatehr was the first War Dragon, and War dragosn were created for a specific purpose, to nont only the guardians of the gods, but to be the lord and ruler of all dragons, as such their leader would be King of All dragons, and my grandfather was such being the first". He paused again lettign it sink in and then he said," My grandfather had my father the first Prince of Dragons, and the first Dar'Vaeg meaning Son of The Skies, but it was not to last after 200,000 years of service my grandfather lead a dragon revolt, he had turned evil due to Rakus seduction, it would later become known as The Dragon Wars, and the fight lasted for well over 8,000 years with loss of life on both sides".
He paused breifly catching his breath and then said," My father soon saw that his fatehr had turned evil and was leading the revolt so Raku could take power, not for Dragon freedom, my father gathered some loyal followers, and joined forces with the gods and eventually after 12,000 years of bloody conflict my grandfather was defeted as was Rakus plan, and my father became the new Nar'Vaeg, and because of the war there are less War Dragons, but Lothmendil made a promise to the War Dragons , that their race would never die out, and one day soon our race shall one day again rise".
He finished his tale and then said," By telling you this I have shown you a dragons trust which is not easliy gained, or easily broken, and as such I must ask you to never reveal what I have todl you unless to someone you could trust only with your life".
Jaina - September 28, 2007 10:02 PM (GMT)
Arthurs explenation was interesting, as Jaina could sence it was true. Then she responded to reasure him "I will not tell this to no one, even if i'm under the threat of death!" When Jaina finished speaking, she went forward and sat few feet awat from Arthur, and it was on his right side. When she was on the ground, she asked him about the sword, he spoke of before the explenation he gave. "Can you tell me more of this sword? Maybe together we could find it, two heads are better than one." Jaina knew that she may be pain in the neck with ther questions oand offerings for help, but she could do nothing about it, that was her nature.
