Title: Playing the Waiting Game
Description: Zanthia, Open
Valynna - September 6, 2007 10:13 PM (GMT)
The streets in Lomedor were crowded, something that Valynna hated as she tried to make her way through the people towards her meeting point with Zanthia. Why had Zanthia made it a point to come to this city out of all the other places they could have visited? Valynna thought angrily as she made a sneer towards a young boy who’d caught a glance of her pointed ears. They boy quickly ran from her and a smile spread across her lips, she always liked intimidating kids, it was too easy.
Other people in the crowd began to notice her appearance and intent to keep moving that they began to give her room, a sort of path unfolded before her. Valynna held her head high, her long black hair fell around her shoulders and down her back to her waist. Her clothes were fitted to her body, her skirt stopping at her mid thigh, her boots came up to just above her knee and cloth strips were wrapped around her hands and up to her elbows.
The sun was waning, and the air of night filled the streets. Many were on their way home and the deeper she traveled into the city the less dense the crowds became until eventually there were none. Now the sun had set and darkness took it’s place.
She continued her path until she suddenly stopped in the middle of the street and turned towards a building. It was a pub, the kind that Valynna may actually like, full of those who don’t want to be noticed.
“Nice choice.” Valynna said softly under her breath, a remark meant for her Master, this was where she was to meet Zanthia. So, Valynna thought, was she late, or was she going to have to wait even longer to get out of this place.
Entering the Pub, she studied the room before her with her blood red eyes, many stopping in mid-action to peer at the young looking newcomer. Confirming that her Master had not yet arrived she made her way to an empty table and just about fell into the chair with impatience and glowered at those who still stared at her.
Zanthia - September 7, 2007 04:55 AM (GMT)
Upon night fall a slim fully cloaked figure began it’s way through the streets, hood over it’s head, and a thing cloth wrapped around it’s eyes, covering them completely, though this particular figure had a different way of looking at thing, and has had suck for ninety-eight of it’s three hundred and ninety-eight years of life. Vision was a mere illusion to those that lived to perceive it, the realm of the dead had no need to physical sight, and so it was that Zanthia, the rogue Necromancer was able to see.
It had been difficult in finding a safe place to meet with her student that would allow both of their kind to sit and speak without trouble, but thankfully there were a lot of denizens that found it more comfortable being left alone.
With practically everyone off the street save a few it was easy to get to the tavern, and upon entering Zanthia made a bee-line for her student sitting down and removing the hood that covered her horns, letting her silk web-like hair fall down her shoulders and back. She then proceeded to remove the cloth band around her eyes, revealing that she did not have any eyes per say, but two floating blue orbs within a lavender mist in her eye sockets.
“I see that you made it here without starting any trouble, is there something that is bothering you to have spurred this?”
Zanthia said with a teasing grin on her lips, knowing full well the extent of his student’s persona.
“I asked ahead to see if there were many bar fights here and they assured me that everyone really stuck to themselves, and I hope that you do the same.”
Zanthia took a well rounded look at her surrounds and then turned her attention back to Valynna, putting her chin in one hand at that hand’s elbow on the table, mimicking her student’s impatience with another sly smile.
“Is there anything that I can order for you to eat?”
Xaki - September 7, 2007 05:33 AM (GMT)
{I hope it's okay if I join}
Xaki swayed from side to side as he attempted to dodge a large amount of the people that crowded the Lomedor steets. He was quickly being annoyed because this was wasting what limited time he had left on Arda. Up ahead was a small clearing in front of an inn where two monsterous men stood tall over the other citizens. They were very muscular and even more intimidating, but Xaki was interested in an elven woman whom seemed to have a path cleared for her.
He was so focused on the elf he did not pay attention to the path ahead and ran into the biggest of the two behemoths. He looked up and he saw their eyes which seemed bloodshot with anger. They were about to rampage and he was the target they were going to practice on. Currently he considered himself more of a dummy in this situation as he just stood there. He did not make any movement for his blade because he figured that these two behemoths were not worth the steel.
He let out a sigh as he stared into their eyes for several seconds. The night was setting in and the air became cooler. The numbers of people on the streets greatly shrunk and Xaki figured that these were statues that had been temporarily animated by a powerful spellcaster who had been showing off his skills. Xaki attempted to walk past them but the biggest one grabbed him by the back of his vest and turned him so they met at eye level.
"So you are not animated statues." Xaki said with a grin which was followed by a cough of blood. The behemonth was angered and took this as an insult and tossed Xaki into the air. Xaki quickly unsheathed his blade and prepared it to block the attack which soon followed. The monsterous being hit the steel of his blade and sent Xaki flying back several yards and rolling.
Xaki took this chance to run but the smaller being was quick and caught up to him. The giant man picked him up and began trying to crush Xaki's spine. "Damnit!" He shouted before he began kicking as hard as he could. He kicked the man just below the waste and watched as he fell to the ground. Xaki's breathing was heavy as he saw the other being chase after him like a bull. He was currently too weak to move and prepared his sword for another attack.
The creature had caught Xaki and was running with Xaki on his back until he stopped. Xaki was thrown several yards in front of a tavern and he struggled with his blade to stand up. His body fell numb but he still had control, he could not just keep blocking the beings attacks. He put his blade down and started to Jango, he put one foot in front of him and the other behind him and switched the in a kind of dancing style.
His movements were sluggish as he continued to try and recuperate from the continuous blows but he was still able to Jango. As the creature charged at him again Xaki flipped on his hands and jumped the massive being whom crashed into a building that was next to the tavern. The monster charged him again and this time he tok up his blade and side-stepped. The being tripped over the unsharpened side of the blade and fell to the ground, hard, leaving a small trail in the ground. He lie there unconcious as Xaki continues to hold himself up on the blade. He looked inside of the tavern and saw the elf from earlier. He gave out a long sigh before collapsing from exhaustion and pain onto the dirt.
Valynna - September 7, 2007 11:56 PM (GMT)
Finally, Valynna spotted her Master as she walked into the tavern, she was wearing her cloak like most of the time, covering her appearance. Once she sat down in front of Valynna, she began revealing her appearance to her and any others who risked taking a glance. First was the hood of her cloak showing her horns and white hair then she unwrapped the cloth around her eyes, which Valynna always found spooky looking since Zanthia didn’t really have any, just bluish orbs among purple mist. Like always a small chill went down her spin upon seeing the eyes.
“You know how much I hate cities. It just the way people around these places look at me. Besides it’s not like I was trying to look for a fight, nobody challenged me…” Valynna explained a bit disappointed. She never backed down from a fight, and she always seemed to bump into someone who wanted one, she just gave them what they wanted.
“You sure took you time,” she said, choosing something to eat, she was pretty hungry. “So when can we leave?”
But before Zanthia could respond, a loud noise could be heard outside the tavern, it not only grabbed Zanthia’s attention but many others inside the tavern, though none seemed to wonder over to see what was happening. Valynna jumped from her chair and rushed outside. Only to discover the fight was over and it looked liked there was no winner as three bodies laid in the dirt.
“Ah, look what you made me miss.” Valynna said in a mocked whining voice, though she was still upset for missing out. “At least if it was me, I would still be standing, who do you think started it?” She asked, walking over to the bigger ones, it was usually those types who start things like this, she kicked one hard, letting out a bit of frustrating for not fighting them herself.
Zanthia - September 8, 2007 09:38 AM (GMT)
Zanthia was the last to get up, taking her time and letting all the others rush out to see what was going on. Once she arrived on the scene outside of the tavern she surveyed the area and saw the three bodies, one of which her apprentice was kicking, causing Zanthia to shake her head. She then looked down at the man and walked over to him slowly as talk began to go back and forth between everyone.
From under her robe a hand with sharp bone-like claws moved out and touched the man’s shoulder lightly, and Zanthia casting Minor Heal to awaken him if not heal him to full, empowering it just incase.
“Are you alright?”
She said this as if it was more her job to say it rather then she worrying about his health truly. She looked over to her apprentice to make sure that she was not causing any more trouble while eyes were averted.
“You should be more careful on these streets, thugs like this love to pick on the weak, but since they are in as bad a condition….”
Xaki - September 8, 2007 04:32 PM (GMT)
Xaki had lied there unconcious for a moment, awakened by the sounds of people rushing from the tavern to see what had happened. Xaki was still dazed and extremley sore from that quarrel and the sheer, brute, strength from his two opponents. His body was numb and he could not bring himself to move. “Are you alright?” a woman's voice said to him. He could feel some bit of strength return and he slowly moved his limbs to pick himself up. “You should be more careful on these streets, thugs like this love to pick on the weak, but since they are in as bad a condition….” "I know, I did that to them." Xaki said before coughing up some blood. He gave a sigh as he looked at the people who were gethered around.
He stretched, cringing in the pain from the two brutes. "Go back into the tavern people! What's done is done, there shouldn't be any more fighting for the rest of the night. I am sorry to dissapoint you." Xaki shouted as he sheathed his blade and walked inside of the tavern. Every bone in his body ached and he believed that several of his limbs may be severley injured. "I'm going to have to find a priest in the morning." Xaki said to himself as he sat down at a bar and ordered water.
Valynna - September 8, 2007 11:36 PM (GMT)
So this kid took these two brutes on huh, Valynna thought to herself, her eyebrow raised a bit impressed. A crowd had gathered around them, mostly from the tavern, but a few who were out in the streets seemed to have been drawn to the noise as well, they too were late for the fight like her.
The guy seemed to still be in pain, she figured that Zanthia chose not to heal him all the way, she on the other hand probably wouldn’t have bothered. Once the guy showed that he was alright, everyone seemed to go their separate ways, back to their tables, to their own business. Well there wasn’t any use crying over spilt milk, Valynna excepted that she missed her chance to fight and walked away from the two still laying on the ground, nobody seemed to bother with them as well.
“Lets get our food, I’m tired of this place.” Valynna said to her master as she approached her, “ Unless you are going to heal that guy further.” A teasing tone in her voice followed by a grin.
Re-entering the tavern they returned to their seats, Valynna keeping an eye on the winner of the fight, their food had been placed before them but all Valynna could think about was if she was to get another lecture from Zanthia about toning down her attitude. After all she had completely skipped over the guy and went right to the brute, and began kicking him.
Zanthia - September 9, 2007 07:08 AM (GMT)
Zanthia nodded to the man as he passed and then looked over the other two, wondering if she should heal them as well, but then everyone seemed to go back into the tavern and she did not want to be out in the open by herself to be seen clearly so she too joined the crowd, returning to her table and watching Valynna eat her dinner.
“I am actually proud of you, not taking out your frustration on those downed players of that scene, I am sure that something will happen to let you vent your rage and if not we can find a nice tree to sit under.”
She laughed without making any noise, putting her hand to her mouth.
“Wouldn’t that be nice?”
Xaki - September 9, 2007 07:22 AM (GMT)
As he drank his water he quickly turned his head and coughed more blood. That beating had really pushed him to his limits, and any more torture upon his body and he may have died. He sighed as he cringed from the pain and finished his water. He layed back and thought if there were any good quiality inns nearby. He could not think of any and asked the barkeeper if they had any rooms that were availabe. "Actually we do have two rooms that are currently empty. I could give you the key to one, for fifty gold." He gave a grin as Xaki reached into a small bag and pulled out forty-nine pieces of gold, it was all he had but the bar-keeper was willing to accept it and gave Xaki the key. "It's the one on the right." The barkeeper said as he stowed the gold away.
Xaki took the key and came down from his stool and as he turned he coughed up blood for two minutes until his body was severley weakened. He pushed his body forward to some nearby stairs, stumbling over a good length of this before he crashed down near the base of the stairs, his head an inch away from bashing into the wood staircase. His body was numb and sore but his mind was active and writhing in pain as Xaki tried to pick himself up, only to find himself lying there as if he was dead yet still breathing. To him this was a nuisence and he would havve rather collapsed on a bed and at least fall asleep after collapsing from pain.
Valynna - September 9, 2007 06:27 PM (GMT)
A smile came across Valynna’s lips, how many times have she attacked at tree for no apparent reason? It was an ongoing joke between the two. The only reason for that was to not attack somebody else, letting go her frustration on a tree was better in the long run then picking a fight with someone who could seriously hurt her, at least that’s what Zanthia had said to help her control her emotions. It usually worked too, but now thinking on the subject, it had been a while since such a reason had aroused for her to search out a tree to beat up.
“Naw, it’s not necessary, I’m alright.” Valynna said calmly, finishing off her meal. That felt good, having her stomach full there have been too many memories of her being hungry before Zanthia had picked her up. Since then she had never felt as hungry as she did then.
She watched as the boy got up from his seat at the bar and began to move towards the stairs, except he continued to cough up blood into his hand. Once at the base of the stairs he collapsed.
“He must have been beaten up pretty good, he’s still coughing up blood, not to mention he passed out yet again. How could somebody like him stand up to those two guys outside?” Valynna said absently, though her attention was still on the guy. A worried look quickly passed over her face. Great now I’m starting to think about guys, she thought to herself, tearing her gaze from his motionless body back to Zanthia.
“So, where are we heading from here?”
Zanthia - September 9, 2007 08:15 PM (GMT)
Zanthia had been looking over a small sized book as Valynna ate, smiling to herself at what she was reading apparently, but she had not yet let Valynna read or see the book, strangely enough she had been reading this book for almost all of the time they had been together.
“How was the f…”
Zanthia looked up to Valynna who seemed to be preoccupied with looking at something, and as Zanthia turned to look as well, she saw the person that she had healed back into consciousness fall down again, and once again go unconscious. When Valynna finally shook her self out of looking at Xaki she noticed that Zanthia was now looking over.
“Perhaps I should have done more than just awaken him….but…”
She pulled her hand out from under the robe to see that her skin was still burnt from using the heal on him.
“I am not sure how much more I can do today…”
Justice Singail - September 10, 2007 02:06 AM (GMT)
(OOC: I really hope it's okay if I post.)
This section of the city is so run-down, maybe this wasn't such a great idea. It was her first time visiting the Drital Qu'ellar, and the first impression it gave Justice wasn't a pleasant one. As soon as she laid a foot in the area, thugs and even little kids were trying to snatch her goods. She dealt with them accordingly, either with a swift punch to the face or a lengthy lecture, respectively of course.
The purpose for the half-demon's presence in Drital Qu'ellar was for investigation. She heard of a noble that passed through here, and lived. She didn't need a scholar to tell her that nobles don't fair well in this precinct, it was practically a death trap for them. But this particular noble even killed several brutes... easily. Her theory might sound paranoid, but Justice had a feeling that it was Valafar. She had to know what he was doing in the city.
Approaching the most popular pub in the district, Justice immediately noticed a couple of large hooligans on the ground, seemingly unconscious until she walked closer to them, and they began to rise to their feet, noticeably groggy. The bigger one pointed a husky finger at the half-demon, speaking in a low, oaf-like tone, "You! Where did skinny man go?!"
She froze for a moment before calmly pointing a finger down a random street replying, "Uh, he went that way." Without a moment to spare, the two bruisers hustled it down the street like a couple of angry orcs and Justice simply shrugged, Must've been an interesting fight.
Her cloaked figure walked into the pub, her purple eyes scanning the scene, noting that no one took care in her entrance, which was preferable. Taking a seat at the bar, she ordered a simple tonic of water and light ale before hearing a man a few seats across coughing severely before getting up, stumbling to some nearby stairs until he fell down with a lifeless thud. Now catching Justice's full attention, she noticed the blood on the floor near the seat he occupied, figuring that's what he was coughing up.
Despite not knowing this man, Justice had the urge to help, even if he could be a killer or some sort of depraved psycho, her morals wouldn't allow it. Rising from her seat, she stepped over and knelt next to the fallen man, recognizing his skinny frame, He must be the guy those ruffians were looking for. She analyzed the man carefully, trying to figure what was wrong before reaching inside her cloak, pulling out several vials of herbs and essences before pouring them into a gloved hand, grinding and mixing them together. Grabbing her tonic from earlier, she threw the mixture into it and stirred it then placed the glass next to the man's lips, "Drink this, it will help."
