A while back I created an NPC organization in Arda, bent on the destruction of demons and other occult creatures. Of course, this was right up Sartana's alley, and made for a good bit of IC detail, and back story; not to mention giving a bit more purpose to his adventuring. It was called B.A.D.I.—The Bureau of Abyssal Defense and Investigation. It was neat, and I gave it a lot of thought, but it never really saw a lot of use. So, now, I figure if people are interested, maybe I can make it into a guild. I've tweaked it a bit to accompany being a Player-lead organization. Details are below!

..But if you're too lazy to read it, B.A.D.I.'s a good/neutral only mercenary guild that you can gain ranks in, which earns you items and fame. You do this through special, DM-lead missions. Guild member disappearances have put BADI on edge, and provide for an interesting, albeit dangerous, guild plot.

Dude, I love this idea. I definately want in. Screw my merc guild. :p I just hope you have an extra large uniform.

Although it doesn't fit my character, I wish you the best of luck with your guild, it sounds soooo uber! If you ever need me to help out or post or anything I'd be glad to be involved with such a neat organisation.

I hope you dont mind. It's just that, I'm trying to keep the guild realistic, and even powerful members must prove themselves before they're trusted with tougher missions.

Hmm I like the idea of this guild. I was going to have Anika join the sinners, but it isnt really her style. They are more hard core evil characters like killers. Anika is more of a rogue looking for her place. I think it would be good for her to find a home within B.A.D.I. It would definitely be a twist since she has always surrounded herself by evil characters in the past. I think it is time to see where a little positive influence leads her. As for the title i was thinking something like magic layman [oracle] but if I cant do that I would go with magic layman [protection specialist]

I can add you, of course, but you'll have to wait on becoming a 'shadow specialist, as you would need to be a Stealth Layman or Master before qualifying to become a specialist.

But I'm rethinking the system now, so I'll see what we can do. ^_^

That's not a problem at all. I just hope there are some fun missions once this gets fully off the ground. I am also willing to donate some to the guild as though I am sure I could find a way to spend my gold this seems like a worthy place for it.

Also, for Hroth's plot, he's now visiting his friend in Estolad. This friend is a NPC and I was wondering, if that friend can be a member of B.A.D.I., one of the ones who dissapeared? This would also give me something to work with (few topics where Hrothgar looks for Orik and then stumbles into the same guild in which Orik worked). Just wondering (again.)

Well what put me off of joining before was that it seems to be a guild for mercenary characters, but if you could fit old Tobias in otherwise I'd love to be a part of the guild.

Despite the fact that he wouldn't do any attacking or even defending, he could play a role as teacher quite well. Either teacher, maybe a record keeper/scribe or otherwise just a 'contact' of the guild.

He could be one of the major IC money funders of the organisation. I play him as rich in character so he could be a wealthy contact who provides money, items and maybe even places to stay for guild members undertaking a mission.

Hrothgar: I'm glad you like the guild! It means a lot to me, even if it does need some work. No, members don't have to join an IC topic to enter the guild—I'm not sure where you got that idea, but it would take far too long. To reach B-class rank they need to share an IC topic with me, though. Maybe that's what confused you?

Yes, it'd be fine to stick your NPC in BADI. I'll have a topic up eventually (if the guild gets accepted) where you can submit NPCs, just so we can have a list of created ones, to go along with the few hundred nameless NPC guild members.

The Narrator: Everyone starts off at D-class, and I'm working with the idea that when you become a full-fledged member (C-class or higher), you can apply for special positions in the guild: i.e., scholar, record keeper, teacher, janitor, garden keeper, bodyguard, weapons dealer, nurse/doctor, etc.

To get to C-class and receive the position you want, you only have to post in one mission; just one post saying you showed up, or maybe giving information to the other guild members before they head out. Then just donate to get the rest of your merits or whatever. Sorry, it's just, I'm trying to make this fair for everyone; no exceptions.

But! I really, really want Tob in the guild. He'd be the perfect pompous, condescending scholar, who members and Sartana can go to for information on... anything. Just tell me what you think. If all else fails, you can just be a contact, if you like.

About this part, I do study art and my skills are at a fairly decent level, however I have no working scanner ><. I'll be getting a new one hopefully so once I do I could probably do some art for that...

Good to hear. ^_^ I hope you get your scanner soon. I know how hard it is not having one if you don't draw digital art; I used to have to take pictures with my camera, and then upload them onto my computer, before I had my scanner.

That'd be great though. If the guild's created, I'll have a section showcasing art and detailing what I'm looking for in it.

Can I join as well? Tanya is a bit young right now to do missions but she will be yearing up next year, so maybe now she can be a stay at home healer as soon as I do a little more shopping for some potions and such and be training untill she grows a year then maybe she could go on missions.

Ok I thought about it for a little while and I've decided I want in. It sounds like a brilliant guild, there are enough reasons for Tobias to want to join it IC. Although it goes against his planned storyline a little bit, I can alter it to easily blend with him being a member of B.A.D.I.

I don't particularly know / mind what position he has in the guild, though I think being a teacher, scribe or researcher would be pretty sweet! :D

I'm realativly new but I'm interested in the guild, it would be a twist to have P'Jeil to work for humans. Or even possibly live at the guildhall. *wonders to self about how that would work*
