Justice Singail - August 8, 2007 11:31 AM (GMT)
The old tower stood crumbling yet stubborn, refusing to give up its position by any means, silently whispering to any adventurer to enter its foreboding walls to discover any secrets it may be holding. One wanderer answered its call, seeking knowledge that may help her claim a paramount goal that would end a nightmare thats been haunting her for many years. I hope this is worth it, she thought to herself while standing in front of the massive structure with her cloaked purple eyes which turned into a distinct yellow as they gazed upon its worn design.

Her foot took a light step onto the first brick in front of her, and almost immediately the half-demon's spine shivered and froze up, her eyes instantly switching to a light blue as goosebumps ran up and down her body like a thousand microscopic needles poking at her skin. The lady vagrant clenched her fists with a sort of determination, her eyes changing to a firm brown when talking to herself, "Justice Singail, you are not afraid of this defective and tattered old tower! Exert yourself, damn it!"

With a heave of audacity, her legs climbed the broken steps to the tower entrance guarded by large wooden doors that seemed to have suffered from weather and termite infestation. The doors opened with an ancient creak as Justice peeked inside to see a large, dark room with barely any means of light. Upon opening the door further the light poured in, revealing a twisting staircase to the right and simple yet aged tables, chairs and cabinets throughout the rest of the room. Justice speculated that perhaps the keepers of the tower wanted to keep a front in case unwanted guests decided to visit.

Justice took her first step into the tower and the ground became alive with flying dust, merely assuring Justice that this place hasn't been touched for many generations... until she saw the footsteps implanted on the dust-padded floor. Who could be here? I guess I'm not the only one who heard about this place... I suppose that's not much of a surprise.

Making a mental note to have her sword on-hand if the need arises, she continued exploring through the ground floor, softly padding the walls and searching intently for something specific within the damp and drafty space. If the scriptures she studied on where correct, she should find a lever or switch to the lower levels of the tower and then hopefully find any information that could assist her quest.

In almost an instant, Justice unexpectedly found an empty and rusted torch holder sitting idly and peculiarly on the wall and figured this was the switch the texts mentioned. In an effort to activate the contraption, Justice tried lifting it up, but it wouldn't budge. She tried again in a downward motion, but to no avail. Tried to move it to both sides, and it was still no good. Maybe outward? It was worth a shot as she pulled towards her body, using a little of her demon strength until a loud CLANG! echoed through the whole tower, the torch holder flying across the room, crashing into a couple objects. "Whoops."

Slightly embarrassed and already considering giving up, Justice decided to sit for a second and ponder what else could possibly be used for a switch or lever. There can only be so many possibilities after all. Seeing a sturdy-looking chair in a corner, she swept off large amounts of dust before sitting and looking around the dark room for any clues. She leaned back in the chair before hearing a slight click! beneath her, and before she could react, the chair seat gave way underneath her, along with part of the floor, revealing a chute as she slid down hollering, "HOLY GODS!"

The slide seemed to go on for hours, twisting and weaving through a pitch black path, disconcerting her sense of direction but it was only after a couple minutes when Justice popped out of the slide and landed in soft soil. Covered with dust, dirt, cobwebs, and some other substance she didn't want to identify, she shook her head to free her from their grasp, making her hair white again as she bustled her hands through it.

Taking a good look at her surroundings, she noticed it was a kind of small cavern with a few passageways leading off in different directions. The area was moderately lit with some everlasting torches and a scarce number of light piercings through the ceiling. There's also some signs of building construction with bricks and stones in small piles or in an actual wall formation. Perhaps it was a mine, or an unfinished part of the tower? That might explain the chute but it was all unknown to Justice on what purpose this area was, however if this lower level existed, then perhaps the lore she sought for existed as well.

Justice decided it was time to find out what waited for her down in these depths as she made her way into the tunnels, tenacious as ever.

Arthur Pendragon - August 8, 2007 01:10 PM (GMT)
Arthur had entered the tower a few minutes earlier looking for something he might have missed on his last visit. The thing about this tower was only the stupid entered it once, only the foolish entered it twice, and only the brave entered it three times. Arthur guessed he was either crazy or brave because this was his fourth and the tower had already got him startled as he stared at the staircase before him. The thing was the last time he was here he had collasped this particular staircase but now it looked as if it never happened.

He then said," I'll be damned if this tower doesn't heal itself". He then walked back down to the floor below and noticed an opening in the floor along ith footprints to small for him. He said," Well I missed that for sure, danged towers got me on edge". Arthur wasn't frightened never that he was just terribly alert expecting somethign to jump out of the corner even in the daylight. He then sighed and said," You only live once" and with that he detransfomred into his human state and jumped down the tupe. The tube went on for awhile until he hit the floor sending up years of dust with his landing. He noticed footprints again down the dimly lit corridors and unsheated the sword at his side and went down the corridor the footprints went down.

He saw a distant shadow of a person and went up easy so as not to frightne them luckily for him he was in human form because if he was in his dragon one thsi person would attack no matter what mostly because of this cursed tower it made people paranoid and well a half-dragon in full form in this tower made people think they were under attack. Arthur was only a few steps behind the person now and waiting for the person to notice the falling of footsteps behind the person as he sheathed his sword and slowly kept walking.

Aaron Butler - August 8, 2007 03:21 PM (GMT)
A gray-blackish Dragon landed out side the tower with a thud. He growled lightly and looked around with gold eyes. A Shadow Dragon was standing on all four, tail whipping back and forth slowly. He continued looking around then roared loudly that made the birds fly away. Theres more then one person here.. he thought eyes gleaming through the darkness. I'm not in the mood...for this he growled again with a hiss, his white teeth showed through the darkness, almost as bright as the moon itself. The only problem he had was the fact his only defense was that he could become part of the shadow's themselves, however he didn't care. ...they must be inside the building..I'll have to change to go in but they already know I'm here... He let out another growl, this time a lower one then the first.

Still deciding to either stay in his Dragon form or change to his human form weaponless and enter the tower, then again he could just destroy the tower here and now but there was no point in doing so since he was a neutral dragon not a hostile one. He crouched to where it looked like he was laying on the ground and waiting out side of the Tower, his tail continued moving slowly. Making up his mind he transformed back into his human state, looking around he checked to make sure no one saw him. He started to walk but only stumbled and fell down. Pushing himself up from the ground he muttered aloud "Thats...gonna hurt tomorrow.."

As he was back on his feet, Aaron headed to the door and pushed it open only to stumble again through it. He looked around smiled at all the old chairs and walked over to a knocked over one and sat it back up. "Who in the right mind would dare to come into such an old tower full of history to knock over a chair. He walked away and stopped as he heard something slam shut behind him, wincing he turned around and saw nothing. He saw some stairs and decided to follow them up. Slowly ascending Aaron noticed the stairs creaked with each step he took, so instead of taking random steps up the stair case he started to carefully place his foot steps, as well as he could, to ascend the stairs to at least the next floor.

Endymion - August 8, 2007 03:54 PM (GMT)
Deep down in those corridors, a man had already found what was at the edge of it: A very tall armored door. He was there for hours, searching for a way to open it. By now, Endymion had a large pile of things he tried to use, which included swords, axes, battering rams, siege catapults, trebuchets(similar to a catapult), cannons, pretty much everything that the other people had left behind.
" Is there anything written on the door then?" It was hard to see, but the small writing was at eye-level, so it didn't take long.
Welcome, Lonely Traveller. The Key Is Up.
When he looked up, he saw what he thought was the largest key in Arda that had two giant metal rods coming out of each side, by the handle. Getting through that door seemed even more impossible now.

Aaron Butler - August 8, 2007 07:33 PM (GMT)
After walking back down stairs frowning with the fact there was nothing up there he decided to look for a way under. He walked back over to the chair he sat up straight and pushed it over, A trap door opened next to him and smiled "Now that was easy!" He took a step over and went down through the tube, coming out at the very bottom hitting the ground hard. He winced standing up as he looked around, It was very dark...only a few dim candles that where about to go out down the hall..correction, down the huge..hall. "Well, this is a great place to hide something here..wonder how fare down I am.." He looked up and could see the dim light from the opening. "At least it was a slide.." he said with a small laugh before looking around again "Well best I get going..." He started forwards walking at his normal past making sure he didn't make any sound.

Justice Singail - August 9, 2007 04:20 AM (GMT)
This place is so strange, the tunnels have no real focus of direction at certain points, but in others, they seem to have a good idea of where to go. Justice thought to herself after the half-demon figured she must've walked at least a half mile through the winding passageways, finding a couple burrows with old, moth-eaten bed sacks and creaky, water logged furniture. All have provided no clues to Justice's search, but it didn't keep her from continuing.

Another bizarre feature of these tunnels was the fact the air altered frequently. At times it seemed damp and cool, but further down the dug out space, it was muggy and hot. She couldn't explain it to her knowledge, but as long as it didn't hinder her progress, she kept trekking. Soon, Justice found another burrow, much larger than the others but with the same aged objects. However, she spotted something new with her lime green eyes: a journal.

It was shabby and frail, but it was the most promising sight she has seen since she entered the tower. As gently as possible, Justice turned the pages with a chary finger, reading what looked like Quendi dialect, but it had a much more rash tone to it, so Justice concluded it might have been a Drow's journal. With minor difficulty, she read the pages with a deep focus, studying every word, and from what she read, these tunnels were part of an elaborate plan to create a network across the continent of Eä, so it would make traveling less difficult from place to place and keep better in touch with allies.

It was a well-thought plan; thieves and fugitives would acquire a retreat in case they were being hounded by authorities, or another idea was to simply lead small armies to ambush enemies or pillage towns. But something made the scheme halt to the point where the whole project was abandoned... and quickly. Nevertheless, Justice found no mention of such a thing in the timeworn journal.

Sighing and brushing her short, wavy white hair back, Justice pondered on her course of action from this point. She could continue, hoping to find another journal or clue, or she could simply ditch her quest and find a way out. The rations and water she currently held with her could only last for maybe a day, two if she makes the meals sparse, but that would leave her with little energy.

Before she could make an absolute decision, a scrape of metal broke her train of thought, and in a protective instinct grabbed and unsheathed her sword, spinning around, having the point of the sword just a half-inch from the intruder's neck. Justice's red-orange eyes gazed upon the blond-haired, blue-eyed man, detecting no wicked intent.

"And why exactly are you sneaking up behind my back?" Justice asked with a sarcastic tone.

Arthur Pendragon - August 9, 2007 11:13 AM (GMT)
Arthur smiled at her even if the sword was at his neck and he said," Not sneaking really more like following this place is dangerous for someone alone and I was making sure you were alright, I know this place better than most been here at least 4 times and I know the dangers of this tower". That was true enough of course 3 of those times were at night so he belived they were even as dangerous in the day even if mutch haden't happened during his first day visit.
He smiled at her again and said," Let me guess though searching for treasure, or is it something else".

Aaron Butler - August 9, 2007 02:16 PM (GMT)
After traveling through the tunnels for what he thought was a never ending path, he came across a room with two people standing in it, He hadn't realized they where in it until he was already standing in the open. He stopped and winced Great,I knew I wasn't the only one... it was already to late to duck back into the shadows for he knew one of them sensed him or spotted him. He took one step, one quiet step forward to get a better look at what was playing out in front of him. One was holding a sword to the others neck, both looked as if they had no hostile intent to either of them just simply ran into each others like he just did. If he just kept his mouth shut maybe they wouldn't notice him standing out in the open.

Endymion - August 9, 2007 02:55 PM (GMT)
Maybe it wasn't impossible. What if that stuff in that huge pile had battle spells put on them?

" Suits of armor, assemble." He said. That was when all of those armor suits just appeared out of thin air in front of him. They seemed to be alive.

" Cannons form a line facing the door..." He said that and a bunch of different things and soon, he had a whole army of soldiers standing behind those cannons, catapults, etc.

" All of you, fire once on that door." The sound of cannons firing and cannonballs exploding was twice as loud, probably even louder, because Endymion never had to cover his ears before when around cannons. Those explosions lit much of the hall behind him.

But it all ended as quickly it began. The only differences about the door was that all of the dust came off, revealing a lot of writing, and a keyhole appeared in a high up place, right in front of that giant key. But when he read the inscription, he needed to wryms, or in his case, one more wrym. The key didn't budge when the whole hall vibrated, it meant a spell was put on it so nothing but that would move it.

"You there, tell me where I can find the wrym that is clostest to me." One of the suits of armor answered in a hollow voice.

" In this very hall. Just wait, he will come here soon enough." Well, that meant really good timing. So Endymion leaned on one of the cannons to wait, while the suits of armor all jumped back into a messy pile.

"Not sneaking really, more like following. This place is dangerous for someone alone and I was making sure you were alright. I know this place better than most and I've been here at least 4 times and I know the dangers of this tower."

Justice rolled her eyes as they turned yellow-orange, sheathing her sword and responding with annoyance in her voice, "I can handle myself just fine, Mr. Hero."

With another smile, the stranger asked, "Let me guess though. Searching for treasure, or is it something else?"

"I don't see how that's any of your business." She boldly retorted, placing her hands on her hips. "But if you must know, wanderer, it's knowledge."

Knowledge. That word sparked a memory of her mother from long, long ago... of something she said when Justice acquired her first book... "With knowledge comes power, Justice. With power comes the ability to accomplish anything you desire. I only hope you never misuse such a thing."

Back then Justice knew no better of what she meant by those words, but now she can see what her mother was trying to say, but why the warning? There was no chance she would ever become something like Valafar...

An object caught Justice's eye behind the stranger in front of her, breaking her state of mind, noticing it was another visitor wandering the endless tunnels, "Someone else?! Holy gods, is the whole population of Eä going to slip down here?"

Arthur Pendragon - August 10, 2007 01:02 AM (GMT)
Arthur smiled at what she said and was about to speak when he heard something behind them. His hand went to his sword and he turned and saw a man no not a man. He had the smell of dragons on him. This man was more than he seemed. He then said to the man in dragons tongue,," What brings you here Dragon Brother, surely not the call of treasure nor to bother us". He knew the man understood he could sense the dragon inside him as if it whas yellign to him. He was close to drawing his word even if he was no longer a dragon sdlayer. He then said again in the dragon tongue," Speak or be gone".

Aaron Butler - August 10, 2007 01:49 AM (GMT)
Aaron cocked his head sideways thinking This guy knows dragon? he came into the light looking at the guy before speaking dragon also ...Treasure? Surely not...brother.. His eye twitched at the word brother Simply Adventure, infact I didn't know anyone was down here...Then again I might be useful so I'll stick around if you want me too He smiled slightly, mainly to the lady then gave a slight bow. "Before you both go in a killing mood, I'm Aaron Butler, a Cleric of no side. Now, If its a fight you want, Surely I'll loose, Have no weapons just my cloak.." He nodded lightly looking around the place. He looks at the other dragon Treasure, you say?

Arthur Pendragon - August 10, 2007 02:40 AM (GMT)
Arthur looked at the man and took his hand from his sword. He said," Good to meet you, I am Arthur, Arthur Pendragon and yes there is treasure in this place". Arthur would know his sword on his back was one such treasure. HE then looked at the girl and said," Knowledge you say, knowledge of spellls thats about the only knowledge you'll find here and that is locked behind a wall". He meant that sarcastically of course btu he wasn't sure how they would take it. He smiled and said," Because most of thsi danged tower is fallign apart and at least several paths are blocked with rubble then again, there may be a hidden library down here". He looked past the girl in a wondering stare.

Aaron Butler - August 10, 2007 04:14 AM (GMT)
Aaron pushed past both of them and stopped on the other side of the room he turned around and waved his hand towards the two people. "This way.." He started forwards not certain of they would follow him or not. Something was on his mind annoying him to his very bones. Moving forwards into what seemed ultimate darkness but it wasn't there was more light at the other side of the hall. He could make out a small figure standing what looked to be like a door, he couldn't tell from his end of the hall. However he started walking slightly faster towards the light.

(yeah..sorry for short post its late here couldn't think of anything)

Justice Singail - August 10, 2007 08:12 AM (GMT)
Dragon tongue? Justice knew of the language, but it was too difficult to understand or to even study about, and the way they talked to each other, they knew it fluently, but it kept the half-demon in the dark as to what they were talking about. Are they some kind of dragonkin? After some kind of confirmation between the two, the shorter man bowed to her, "Before you both go in a killing mood, I'm Aaron Butler, a Cleric of no side. Now, if its a fight you want, surely I'll lose. Have no weapons just my cloak..." In response Justice held her hands up from her cloak and shook her head, signifying she wanted no quarrel to happen.

The taller of the wanderers switched back to common speak, "Good to meet you, I am Arthur, Arthur Pendragon and yes there is treasure in this place." He switched his glance to herself, "Knowledge you say. Knowledge of spells: thats about the only knowledge you'll find here and that is locked behind a wall."

She could only guess that was a metaphor of some kind and Arthur continued, "Because most of this danged tower is falling apart and at least several paths are blocked with rubble. Then again, there may be a hidden library down here."

"From the writings I read, that's what I believe to be true." Justice said before Aaron walked between them motioning them to follow before disappearing into a dark passage. With a minor shrug, she hopped after him, wondering if he knew something they did not.

It was pitch dark in the tunnel, dark enough where you couldn't see your hands in front of your face. It seemed to stretch into forever, filling Justice with doubts of ever finding a way out, but as if the fates were listening, a small flicker of light revealed itself. As she got closer, the light became bigger and brighter until it became so bright her eyes were blinded from adjusting. When they came back into focus, she found herself in a large room with shelves upon shelves of books, scrolls, and cartouches.

Awestruck in this find, Justice's eyes couldn't of gotten any wider as she gazed upon the library, uttering just one simple word, "Wow."

Immediately searching what was on a nearby table, she found antique journals and notes of multiple things, even maps and layouts of a few strongholds. Carefully flipping through the pile, she noticed there was not one consistent language; multiple types of vocabulary littered these pages, which ruled out that just Drow built these tunnels. But Justice had a hunch... a terrible hunch... one that's very unlikely and farfetched, but she had to make certain... Were you here?

Arthur Pendragon - August 10, 2007 12:53 PM (GMT)
Arthur followed them keeping his eye on the dragon. He was wary of it even if it wasn't evil mostly because his sensestold him to. He walked past the girl who was looking at the books in this huge library they walked into. He said to her," Its big but not hidden, you will probab;y find some of what your looking for". He looked ahead and saw another person standing in front of this wall with writing on it. The other man was looking right at him and for some strange reason Arthur sensed they were both dragons and he grew more cautious now and hesaid," Then again that third fellow by the wall seems to know something". He walked to where Aron stood and waited.

Aaron Butler - August 11, 2007 07:16 PM (GMT)
Aaron raised his arm standing sideways pointing at the guy that stood before him "You...what brings you here!" He stared at the guy wishing he had a sword. His hand he was using to point at the guy started shaking slowly as he stood there. He wasn't grinning nor showed any emotion to the guy he stood before him. The others are probably think I know this..guy he thought to himself as he continued pointing. His arm stopped shaking and he stood straighter not able to do anything. Two wryms in the same room, both can change at the same time and start fighting. He didn't know what type he was dealing with nor did he want to make himself a threat to the half dragon and the woman.

Justice Singail - August 16, 2007 10:08 AM (GMT)
She payed no attention to the other two men in the grand library, Justice was reading and studying with unrelenting intent; seeking erudition of events that happened to this colossal labyrinth. The sensation she was receiving was like an anvil placed on her head; an itch she had to scratch. There has to be an explanation, there has to be something...

"Errdegahr"... Demon... this Drowish word stuck out of the pages like the sun shined on a clear day. Why was this word used? Is it used as a metaphor or for literal reasons? Shuffling through the pile and finding several other off-white pages of the same handwriting, she connected the pieces, revealing that the pages were ripped from a journal for unknown reasons. Justice proceeded read the Drowish journal entry...

97th Day of the Great Dig
It has been over three months since the beginning of our spectacular project, and fate has finally condemned us. As we were digging deeper into the earth to maybe find a waterhole, we woke it up. We're not sure how long or why it was sleeping there, but it reacted with a terrible fury.

I saw it myself, and I am grateful that I have lived to tell this tale before I retreat back to the surface... retreat from that monstrous being. It was a frightening sight... it was swathed in fire and shadow, its black wings spread from wall to wall, its height was vast and ominous... the tunnels shook in terror of its presence, the other diggers were frozen with fear; helpless as they were crushed beneath the demon's might. Guards and magicians barraged the fiend with magic and steel, but nothing could penetrate his natural defenses; the invincible nightmare simply swatted away his attackers. "Balrog!" a colleague screamed before he was consumed by the beast, and I believed him. Yes, there's the fact that there are only less than a handful of them, but if you have seen this dreadful being the manner I saw him, you would've agreed as well.

We who are left after the demonic onslaught have barricaded ourselves in this library for now, but we will move in the morning, hopefully reaching the surface before the balrog kills us...

-Izbar Do'th

Her foreboding feelings were confirmed as she finished deciphering the scripture, but in return, Justice acquired invaluable information. You bastard... this is where you came from... Her hands nearly crushed the very papers she was reading, but caught herself before destroying them, rolling them up carefully before placing them in her satchel. The half-demon was done with this place, ready for her next objective... find the Drow Izbar Do'th.

(OOC: Sorry if the detail isn't quite there, I had to finish it somehow. It was bothering me for awhile, especially after that weirdo post made by Aaron.)
