The sun was at high noon as the Isle of Twelve lived in solitude from the rest of the world of Ea. They found it simpler to do so, for the wars of the mainland never even reached the Isle, and the Elders, the first six of the Twelve, ruled and protected the citizens. Named after the stars that spoke the future the Twelve kept order and led the small island with great ease. The island itself was an almost perfect circle, twelve notches in the island appeared at every thirty degree angle, matching the stars of the Zodiac. A monastery in the center was where the Twelve reigned as rulers. However they each had their own home where they preferred. The Monastery was intricate in design, towering six stories in the tall center tower and one story on the lower areas. Made almost entirely of white stone, marble and gold, the monastery was one of the grandest places to be. Below the first floor was a series of rooms where storing was as well as where servants to the twelve lived in slightly less luxury than those who lived in the upper floors. However, lower than that was the prison where all criminals of evil intent were held in captivity watched at all times. The prison was much like the ones on the mainland, only each cell was mostly wall with an iron door and a window to see through.
The twelve were united by the fact they were the best of the best on the island. Not one person could defeat them save the other members of the Twelve. However, if you asked the first eleven ranks they would say there is in actuality, only eleven elders. The youngest and the lowest rank was mostly shunned when it came to decision making, not to keep from a tie, but because they considered her irrelevant and unneeded in the Council. Her name was Piscies, called after the two fish in the Zodiac, the last sign. Always considered a child even at her age she was always lectured by the other signs, and always in trouble. No matter what she did or how perfect she was she was always wrong in some way shape or form. Sometimes it was in a good way, like Leo and Virgo training her in combat with melee and magic, to increase her chance of winning. They pushed her past all limits she had set to help her become a great fighter. However Aries and Taurus considered her someone who should not be on the council and blamed almost everything that went wrong on her.
The silence in the monastery was shattered by a yelling of a name, "PISCIES! YOU IDIOT!" yelled a furious Aries as in the library down the hall Virgo and Sagittarius sat reading, "She pulled another prank?" he said without looking up. "Not likely, it was not preceded by a crash. I say more of trying too hard to please Aries again." she said turning the page of her book. Sagittarius shrugged, "Poor kid. You know if it was not for her attitude I would feel sorry for her." he said as Virgo nodded. Down the hall Aries looked like he would incinerate Piscies at that moment, fireballs were in his hand as she was pressed against the wall in fear, her blue eyes wide at the sight of his anger. He towered over her by a foot and she felt even shorter at the time. She did not whimper for mercy or anything as he bellowed even more. "Piscies! How many times do I have to tell you? You cannot do that! You cannot waltz in on a meeting with the Guard and act as if you are one of them! You have no rights to speak unless spoken to; you have no ranking among us!" he steamed. Aries was one of the fire based Zodians, and the best of them all, his crimson eyes looked as if they would burn a hole in her and kill her immediately, and he probably would had she not been a member of the Twelve, as much as he hated it. Piscies looked at him as she steamed a little less then he was, "I am a member of the Twelve, and as a member of the second six I am deemed to be a Guard until otherwise noted" she said. Aries could not take it and he slapped her hard across her face, a red mark appeared as she looked at him, "Piscies, there is no Twelve Elders; there is the Eleven elders and the Runt. Now I suggest you return to your quarters before I really lose my temper" he said trying to hold back the urge to kill her.
Holding back the tears from what he said she dashed up to her room in the Monastery and burst into her room and flung herself on the pillow and cried. As bad as it was, acting like a two year old, she could not help it. Everything she did was wrong to them. And no matter how hard she tried she could not even match Capricorn, the eleventh elder and the closest to her level. "I don't care. One day I will be able to surpass them, and then they will look to me with respect and deem me worthy for the Twelve. I promise you that Aries, I will do something you cannot. I will surpass even you!" she said into the pillow as she tried to calm down.
Aries watched as she fled towards her quarters. "Dang, why do I put up with her?" he muttered under his breath, "Because no matter how much you hate to admit it she IS a member of the Twelve, she does her best even though it is still not enough and no matter what you think..." Capricorn began before Aries cut her off, "No matter what I think she still is Piscies and will be that way...A wave that cannot be pinned to the sand. I get it but she still needs to learn respect. She won’t be good enough because she cannot surpass even the lowest of levels. That is why she is the twelfth in the line, and why she is the weakest. She must learn to stay in her place, as we all have." he said turning to Capricorn who was joined by Libra and Virgo. Virgo was about to say something before a bell echoed through the Monastery, the eleven elders except for Piscies met in the basement and headed down to the prison.
Deep in the Prison on the far corner, an area is reserved for those who have committed the most heinous crimes, the highest security level of all. There one single door was opened, empty and two guards lay on the floor in a pool of blood, one human the other an elf. There were footprints on the ground in the blood as it headed towards the exit. Who knows what may lay for the Isle now that one of the most dangerous criminals is loose.
