Title: First Date[p]
Description: Closed to Umrae
Godfrey - July 21, 2007 04:04 AM (GMT)
The land of Dori'ba was growing dark. Darker than usual. It grew windy, and it began raining. The pale warrior known as Godfrey twitched his eye a bit, as he sat huddled by a tree, wrapped in his cloak. He scowled, and closed his eyes to rest. He had stayed close to the Dead Lands for some time, and he had not slept for days. He kept having recurring memories of the horrors in that town he had been sent to a year ago. He fell asleep shortly after closing his eyes, only to relive that horrible day all over again. He quickly woke up, dagger in hand. He was breathing heavily, and he was shaking, not in fear, but in anger. "Will these dreams never cease?" He asked himself quietly. He stood up after hearing a noise, then looked to his right.
Looking back at him was a small group of skeletons and zombies, some with weapons, some without. He rolled his shoulders, then popped his neck and slid his dagger back into it's sheath. He quickly drew his longsword, then twirled it around and slashed through a zombie's chest, severing it's upper body from it's waist. It fell with a sickening thump, only to be replaced by yet another in the mass of undead. Godfrey slashed his way through the unintelligent zombies, then withdrew his sword and grabbed his spear. He shattered one of the skeletal warriors with the butt of his polearm, then grinned. Another rushed him and cut his arm with it's rusty sword, but the wound was not deep. Blood ran down the side of his large arm like a small stream, then dripped to the ground under him, leaving a few small drops here and there. He narrowed his eyes, then smashed his attacker's skull with butt of the spear.
After making quick work of the zombies and skeletons, the warrior noticed that a thick fog was starting to settle. He slowly walked back to the tree he had been sleeping on, and slid his spear into a harness on his back. He heard a very light footstep coming from behind, then turned to see the silhouette of a woman. He couldn't make out who or what she was, but he slowly drew one of his swords. His muscles tensed up a bit, and he gripped the blade tightly. "Come, show yourself!" He barked.
Umrae Mas-bryn - July 21, 2007 04:35 AM (GMT)
She had been watching the events silently from behind a tree. The hood of her cloak was over her head, keeping the rain from her face somewhat. Umrae was not hiding. She was just merely bored, and when she had heard the commotion her curiosity had gotten the best of her, and she decided to check it out.
As the wind blew Umrae reached up and held onto the hood of her cloak with her small and delicate hand, keeping it from blowing off. Strands of her hair blew out from beneath the hood, got soaked from the rain and then clung to her face. Umrae ignored the strands as she watched the man battle skeletons and zombies.
He seemed adequate enough, for a male, Umrae supposed. And it was only a small group. Even if it had been a larger number Umrae would have continued to watch. After all it was only a male, and in her opinion, they were beneath her. A belief she had followed throughout her life. One she had held on to. Yes there were some men she had encountered over the years that she had been able to get along with, but still she believed.
When the fight seemed to have come to an end, Umrae took a step back. A near silent curse in her foreign tongue escaped through her lips as a sound was cause by her step back. The drow looked up, and in the mans direction, as she looked to see if he had heard her. She knew that he had when he barked at her to show herself.
Since the drow feared no male, Umrae shrugged as she came out from behind the tree, and walked through the fog. Without any hesitation she approached the man, yet stopped when she was about ten feet away from him. She did not reach to pull out her scimitar but merely rested her hand on the hilt. Umrae felt that she could pull it out in time, should she need to.
Her eyes wandered over his form, searching for weaknesses, and then noted the injury to his arm. Minor, but still an injury. Umraes gaze looked up to stare at the man in the eyes. And that is all she did. Not a word was spoken by her. She had no words for him. He had ordered her to reveal herself, and she had. She refused to lower herself by speaking to the human male, not if she had no need to.

The rain started to die down a bit, but it was still very foggy, and the wind was starting to grow much stronger. Godfrey heard thunder, and once again, the rain came down, much harder than before. He let out a deep breath, then narrowed his eyes. He slowly put his weapon back in his sheath, but kept a hand tightly grasped on its pommel. The former Paladin had met many Drow in his travels. Some he got along with, others he didn't. His last encounter with the species resulted in him gaining an immediate distrust of the species. He remembered the fight with the one known as Dizahab very clearly.
Godfrey scowled, and he took a couple steps closer to the Drow. "So are you going to tell me who you are?" He asked, not really expecting an answer. He didn't care what the woman's name was honestly, but he was still wondering if she was the sort that would attack him. He noticed she had eyed him up and down and looked at his cut for a bit, and then slowly muttered the incantation for a minor healing spell. The wound quickly sealed up, and the rain washed away the blood that once ran from it. Godfrey never took his eyes away from Umrae's. His expression, though showing a hint of anger and caution, was relatively blank. He popped his neck, and his lips curled into a small grin. "Or am I going to have to beat it out of you?"
His muscles tensed a little more, and he rolled his shoulders. "Sound good?" He asked before letting go of his sword and quickly reaching for his chain whip. He unwrapped it, then cracked it inches away from the side of the Drow's face.
Umrae Mas-bryn - July 22, 2007 05:54 AM (GMT)
Umrae ignored the rain and the thunder. The hood of her cloak was now sticking to her head, and the sides of her face. With curiosity she watched as the man put his weapon away, and then raised an eyebrow as she noticed his eyes narrow, and the scowl on his face.
Umrae chuckled quietly, and gave a shake of her head. Why should she give him the privilege of knowing her name? Even the alias she used was too good to be given to some human male.
A slight smile came across her lips as she watched the man heal his wound. Had he noticed her glance towards it, Umrae wondered. Not that it mattered. In her opinion all males were weak, or at least some were. This one she figured was. She could see the hint of anger, and something else. She was not exactly sure what it was. Nor did she care.
When the man asked her if he would have to beat the answer out of her, Umrae nearly laughed. Yet as he released his sword, pulled out the whip, then snapped it near her face, the Drows eyes narrowed. Cursed males, Umrae thought. The man obviously had no control over his anger. She would be glad to teach him a lesson though. Sure, he was larger than her. But she had speed. With her free hand she peeled the hood from her head, pulled off her cloak, and let it drop to the ground.
“You can try, human.” Umrae muttered in reply.
Umrae pulled out her scimitar, gave it a twirl, and then got into a defensive stance. The chain whip would be interesting, not to mention different, Umrae thought. She was used to being attacked by either fists or blades. Not that she minded. She was after all bored, and he was in need of a lesson.
Godfrey - July 22, 2007 06:30 AM (GMT)
Godfrey cracked the whip again, then grinned. The rain poured down even harder, and the wind was getting even stronger. Godfrey ignored it. He twirled the whip around, then smacked it against the ground and flung the tip towards Umrae's hand, hoping to cut it with the end of the chain whip and make her release her weapon. It was after he had already flung it that the feeling came back and he narrowed his eyes more. He flung the thought out of his head, and kept focused.
Godfrey jumped onto the side of the tree next to them after retracting his weapon, then struck again, this time aiming for her cheek. The warrior quickly leaped from the tree to another tree's branch, then flexed his muscles and grinned again. Lightning struck the tree he had just jumped off of, but it didn't phase him. "Come now! Strike me, Dark Elf!" He yelled, challenging her to come to him.
Lightning struck again, and more Undead rose from their graves. Some started limping towards the Drow, while others tried climbing the tree to reach Godfrey. He cracked his whip against a skeleton's skull, cracking it the first time, but quickly struck it again, making the skull shatter into a couple pieces. The chain whip was good enough to take down the skeletons, but he would soon have to draw his sword or a dagger should zombies reach him. One managed to make its way up to the branch he was standing on, only to have its head stomped on and smashed. Godfrey struck at Umbrae a third time with his chain whip, before yet another lightning strike crashed down and destroyed another tree. Godfrey cursed, then jumped down and landed on a skeleton, crushing it and sending bones flying.
Umrae Mas-bryn - July 22, 2007 06:56 AM (GMT)
Umrae had narrowly escaped the path of the mans chain whips. On the third strike the drow arched backwards, letting the whip swing above her. As she straightened back up, once the whip was away from her, Umrae saw a zombie standing before her, and preparing to attack.
Her scimitar twirled gracefully and then sliced across the zombie’s neck as he lunged towards her. As its head, followed by the body, dropped to the ground, the drow was already spinning around to defend her against the next attacker.
Umrae raised her foot as she turned, and connected it against the next zombie’s side. She had heard the undead beast approaching. As the zombie grunted, and staggered to the side, Umrae stabbed her blade into its gut, pulled it back out, and then chopped off its head.
The skeletons and zombies had become a distraction. Umrae had nearly forgotten what she had been doing before they had made their arrival, and then she remembered. The nosey human male. He had challenged her. Was he still alive, Umrae wondered?
Her eyes then darted around, searching for the man she had started to fight before being interrupted. When she spotted him, Umrae reached down to the ground, grabbed a piece of some skeletons bone, and then threw it in the mans direction. Not the greatest weapon, perhaps, but maybe good enough to distract the human.
Immediately after throwing the piece of bone, Umrae twirled her scimitar, and then ran towards the man, with the intention of attacking him. Her movements we quick, and graceful, as they usually were. The scimitar twirled a few times as it waited to strike upon the mans flesh. When she was within striking distance, Umrae began to swing her blade to the right, and then quickly changed its course, and swung for the left instead.
Godfrey - July 22, 2007 07:17 AM (GMT)
Rain continued to pour, wind continued to grow stronger. Thunder began growing louder and louder, and more lightning flashed in the distance. The weather was growing horrible, and it looked as though an end was no where in sight. The land of the dead was now sprawling with it's namesake, as hundreds of undead began bursting from the ground. several began fighting each other, but more and more slowly made their way to the two warriors already locked in combat.
Godfrey grinned as the woman threw the bone. He quickly caught it with his free hand, then twirled it around and shoved it into a zombie's head before kicking it to the ground and stomping on it's neck. It squirmed a little before his foot had crushed it's throat, and went limp shortly after. Lightning slammed into the tree he had just jumped off of, sending it crashing down onto a pack of zombies and skeletons.
A larger zombie, most likely a barbarian in his past life, let out a horrid roar, then charged at the ex-Paladin, but was quickly tripped. He drew his dagger, sliced into the back of the undead behemoth, and widened his eyes as it got up, slammed it's arm into his side, and sent him flying back. He landed on his feet and slid backwards through the muddy ground, then jumped through the air and sent the blade right between his monstrous opponent's eyes. It started falling forward, and Godfrey used it's massive body as a means to pull himself into the air.
With all of his might he pulled down on the abomination, and flung himself a few feet into the air. He flipped before he landed, and quickly sliced a zombie's head off before putting his dagger away and shattering another skeleton's head with the end of his whip.
He laughed a little, then looked to the charging Drow. He ran towards her, and quickly grabbed part of his chain whip and yanked on it to keep it sturdy enough to block the woman's attack. He raised the straightened length of the chain whip to parry her strike, then let go and swung it behind her, grabbing the other end as it came close to him. He pulled her close, then shot his head forward, attempting to bash his skull against hers.
Umrae Mas-bryn - July 22, 2007 06:10 PM (GMT)
Umrae grunted as she was pulled towards the man. She had nearly dropped her scimitar when she came to a stop, but held on and gripped it tightly. Not that it would be of any good, not with the position she was in now.
When she saw his head coming towards hers, Umrae tilted her head to the side, so that it touched her shoulder. It had been a mistake, yet it was the first thing that came to mind. Upon the impact of the mans head hitting her other shoulder, Umrae nearly cried out, but would not allow herself to show such weakness. A crack was heard. Yet Umrae was not sure if it had been her shoulder that had made the sound, or something else.
The rain seemed to get heavier, as the fog thickened, and the thunder seemed to be getting louder and louder. When Umrae opened her eyes she saw those of the undead still battling, and those who were approaching the dueling duo. Her head lifted a little, a small wince flickered across her face before disappearing, and then the drow noticed a skeleton coming up from behind the man.
While the skeleton raised what appeared to be a rusted blade, Umrae pushed herself away from the man, freeing her from his chains, and then kicked the skeleton in the right knee. As the undead creature dropped to one knee Umrae spun her blade and sliced off his head.
The drow muttered something under her breath, in her native language, and then glanced around again. A few zombies appeared to be moving towards them, slowly. Umrae figured it would be enough time to finish up.
As the thunder clapped, louder than before, Umrae spun back around to face the man again. After a twirl of her blade it swung once again, aiming for the mans neck.
Godfrey - July 22, 2007 06:30 PM (GMT)
As Godfrey's head collided with the woman's shoulder, he grinned. He didn't hit what he had aimed for, but he too heard the crack, and hoped he had broken something. A streak of lightning crackled through the sky, and as the rain came down harder, He found it harder to keep a tight grip on the chain of his whip. It slipped a little, and the Drow pushed herself away from him. He staggered back a bit, but quickly regained his composure and struck a skeleton's head with his whip, it was the only way he could really take them out unless he crushed them with his limbs.
Two zombies tried to attack Godfrey, but were quickly dealt with as he drew his crystal sword, created an illusion of himself, and sliced one of the attackers in half. The other undead attacker was too stupid to realize the copy was just that, an illusion, and also fell for the former Paladin's trick.
He sheathed the blade, wrapped the whip around one of its legs, and yanked it to the ground, then jumped on it and drew his dagger. He easily severed the downed zombie's head, then quickly put away the dagger and whip, and drew his longsword.
The weather continued getting worse, and more undead were starting to take notice of the two living warriors. Slowly but surely, the zombies lurched their way towards the two, thinking of only devouring flesh and ripping off limbs, while the more intelligent skeletons raced to them, hoping to cause as much misery as they possibly could before killing the man and woman.
When the Drow swung at Godfrey, he quickly blocked the attack, then kicked at her and swung at her midsection, while also stiff arming a skeleton in the head. It flew off, and the decapitated monster fell into a crumpled pile of bones.
