Lily walked to the market a block from her home, on her way to buy some bread for herself. She had lived alone for two years now, after her father had been taken by the undead, and had had to work as a blacksmith's assistent, for there were few jobs for girls in this land and time.
She smelled a horrible stench that seemed to be coming from the hills, for her sence of smell was superior. She ignored it, thinking it was simply some wanderors looking for a place to sleep.
Keros grinned as he walked from the inn across the village. "Food, bed, and ale!" he laughed to himself."What more could a vagabond and rogue like me ask for, eh? But I think it's perhaps a little bit time to - urgh!" Keros frowned suddenly as he stared about, sniffing the air. Thinking that the smell was much worse than the manure on the fields, he strode purposefully away from the source of the stench - the hills in the distance. As he did so, Keros suddenly realised with a start the hunger gnawing at him. "Bah! I can be a fool at times. An early morning stroll down to the forest without something in my belly, how stupid am I? I had best get something to - ah, the fruit here! That's what Torsis recommended. I should head to the market!" And so, Keros (having still been asleep but five minutes ago despite how late in the day it now was!) calmly walked along, towards the market - and away from the smell, he hoped.
