A soft wind breeze blew over the open area in the middle of the forest . For a while it remained quite before suddenly the nearby bushes started to shake and 3 shadows were seen running toward the open spot . As the figure's finally ran into the sunlight it revealed who and what they were . Men , most likely male humans seen how they were build and clad in dark leather . One of the men was armed with a simple long sword that was held in his hands while the other only had a simple small dagger . The final men had nothing else then a bow and a quiver of arrows . They seemed to be sweating and panting softly . As they stopped and looked around it seemed they were searching for something . For a while they remained quite before one of the men spoken in a harsh and rude tone
"Damd ...It's your fault ! You should have told us they had a damd bounty hunter guarding them ."
One of the men raised his free hand and formed it in a fist lightly irritated . It should have been easy ...They heard rumors a wealthy merchant would wander around in the forest . It was a great plan . They would wait in a ambush , kill the guards and then flee away with the merchant his money . But how wrong could this be ... First they lost 2 of their ally's when they met a fierce resistance from the guards and then ...She appeared ...Out of the wagon of the merchant a young girl had appeared . To be more certain , a beautiful water nymph dressed in a light but well made leather armor . It was strange ...as soon as she jumped out of the wagon and she started her own way of attacking they needed to flee . Her shooting skills were amazing ... Even when they ran inside the shadows her arrows had hit 3 of their mate's and now only they remained . The hunters became the prey . The man was about to smash his fist in the side of his friend before suddenly the man made a grunt out of pain and stumbled backwards against his friend that stood behind him . When his companions looked toward him they noticed a single arrow had pierced his throat . He died a quick but painful death ... Instantly the bandit with a bow had shot a arrow inside the shadows and the sound of someone moving over the ground was heard before a small volley of arrows shot from the bushes . A single arrow had pierced the man with the bow his chest while the other arrow had shot into the man with the dagger his hand making him drop it with a cry of pain .
He was alone ...Alone and couldn't defend himself . Soon the bushes started to move and a person appeared from out of the darkness . The same young nymph from before . Her bow was in a combat state and ready to shot a final arrow to end the boy's life but soon she lowered it and she said in a calm even toned voice
"So your the last of them ? Hmm not as hard as I guess it would have been ..."
The girl looked toward her shoulder . She was glad her leather armor was just thick enough to prevent the arrow from piercing her shoulder . Well she might had been a trained archer but still ...A nymph is quite fragile physically . Her face remained expressionless as she took a few steps toward the bandit . His thought seemed to be wrapped in confusion . What should he do ? He wanted to flee but somehow the charms this women gave made him feel bewitched . Nymph's were known for their beauty after all . She simply stood above him as her gaze wandered over his body that was shivering softly . She would kill him . The arrow had pierced deep in his arm and he felt he was going to faint from blood lose . Just as he was about to shut down his eyes in silence the girl spoken in a more soft voice
"Sit down ..."
Actually after the girl said those words she forcefully pulled him down as she took something what seemed to be some kind of bandages around it . The girl had suddenly took the front of the arrow and pulled it out of the man's arm. He screamed in agony but the girl kept on working on what she had in mind and soon the man's bleeding arm was wrapped in a neatly done bandage . The girl stood up again as she answered
"You better search another profession ...Another bounty hunter would have killed you already ... Now go home ...your family will be waiting ..."
The man nodded as he quickly ran away and the girl was left behind in silence . She smiled softly as she sat down under a nearby tree and lat out a soft sign . This job was hard ...Being a bounty hunter was strange for a nymph , but still if she could prevent good natured people from being killed then she would do it . Her eyes shut themselves as she listened too the sound of the wind . Surely she enjoyed the soft wind breeze but still ...She loved the ocean much more .
"Is it just me or do those bandits get only weaker and more stupid with each season ?"
Adya walked quietly but swiftly through the forest, deftly avoiding any particularly tricky patches of growth on the ground and pushing aside the occasionally low branch. Though she had originally been very careful to go in the direction of the next village, the boring repetitiveness of the forest had made the effort pointless. To be honest, she had stopped paying attention to her direction long ago. Her mind was sunk deep into itself, puzzling through recently gained information and shuffling around what she had learned until it fit with what she knew. It was an unconscious way of storing information that she had done as long as she could remember and which often left her inattentive to her surroundings. Perhaps this was why she nearly missed the bodies.
Had she not half tripped over a rock, she just might have walked through completely unaware. As it was, she was nearly in front of the girl before taking notice her surroundings. A quick look around showed Adya that she was amongst more than one dead body. She stopped in her tracks, grip tight on her staff. It was obvious the girl leaning against the tree had been the killer, though Adya was unsure as to the circumstances of the deaths. The girl had posed a question, whether to herself or to Adya she did not know, but she figured it mattered little since she couldn’t offer a reply with the girl’s eyes shut. Still, since it posed the possibility that her presence had been detected, one not unlikely since Adya hadn’t been paying much attention, she stayed where she had stopped.
If it came to any sort of full out confrontation, Adya had no delusions of winning. There was also no chance of being able to call or run for help. Perhaps she didn’t need it. There was nothing to prove that the dead had not been the attackers. Her muscles remained tense and she forced herself to take a deep breath. She would react to the situation however she needed to. Worrying over it would not help.
