Morgo wiped his brow in the stuffy, damp preparation chambers. He requested a fight, against his worst enemy. Luckily, Ethari had agreed to bring the fight in public appearance. Morgo would be more than willing to kill the fool in the sight of spectators.
They fought for the arena master for free, for the fighting pairs were doing him a favor. The fight brought customers, and the pairs got their full revenge. Morgo opened up the crate of his supplies. As he took out his only weapon, Denger's Talon, he remembered his request to fight.
He came up to the arena master, asking him for a favor. First the answer was no. But after a few 'bargaining' tactics to sway the stubborn decision. Now the fight would resume, hopefully resulting in death of the other.
The two main contestants in the fight were Ethari Xilophent, and himself, Morgo Domanu. He had been rivals of Ethari Xilophent for a while now, eager to kill him. The fights they had been in were bloody, their results bloodier. But Morgo hoped to end it now, with a single slash of his mace.
Unluckily, not all the rules were changed, and familiars were not permitted in the fight. "This is a fight to test the contestants skills, not his pets," he said, refusing Morgo's request. He didn't pursue the matter further, happy that he even managed a spot to fight in the arena.
A squire walked into Morgo's room hesitantly, saying, "Its time to fight, sir," opening the door. Morgo walked out, scowling at the fool on his way out, making the squire jump back, fear illuminating in his eyes.
"Get ready for a fight of vengeance and bloodshed! A crazed Follower of Chaos is ready to fill a beef with his enemy, the Disciple of Balance! Of course, they enlisted help! First up is Morgo Domnu, the Bloodthirsty Killer!" the announcer roared, and with the roar of the crowd in approval.
Morgo walked out, swinging his mace at imaginary foes, baring his teeth. It was time for the fight to begin.
As Kiesu leaned against a wall in a nearby passageway he wondered why he accepted to fight with Ethari, a person he barley knew, against a monsterous orc with possibly incredible strength. He quickly remembered his damndable instincts which always told him to help those who asked for it, even if they didn't ask verbally. He let out a sigh as he waited for his Arena partner. He once again didn't know if he would be killed here or live to run from another mob of angry villagers who hated him for his appearance. He continued to wait, his back slightly hunched against the wall.
Ethari stood in front of a blood spattered doorway, with a robed man by his side, Tarkin. Tarkin put his hand on Ethari's shoulder gently and said softly "don't worry, you'll be okay, even if I won't there to heal you." Ethari smiled, grateful for his words. "I'm gonna go get some tickets for the fight," Tarkin said. Ethari began to walk inside the arena, and Tarkin shouted as he approached the arena, "Good luck!"
Ethari proceeded down the bloodied stairs quickly, trying not to look at the gore that filled the stair way. A man sat at a desk, with a quill in hand. "I'm Ethari Xilophent, I think I have a fight set up." The man looked up from his desk, and stood, and began to lead Ethari towards a room. There was a room with a wooden door, and a piece of paper with his name on it. "There's a box with your things in it," the man said gruffly, proceeding to his previous spot at his desk.
Ethari reached a crate at the end of the room, and pryed the lid to it open, and pulled out his only weapon, Elebreth. It was his diamond blade, and it glimmered in the light as he drew it from the box. He placed it in his sheath, and readied for combat.
Ethari began to head were he would enter the arena, and the old man at the desk stood again and approached him. "That man," he said with the same gruffness, "is your partner, since this is a double battle." Ethari nodded his thanks and began to walk to the door to the arena and stopped in front of his partner. "Hello Kiesu, the battle is going to start soon, so you should began to head in the arena. Thanks again for helping me."
Ethari didn't bother waiting for a response, and hurried out side. As he reached the end of the tunnel, a booming voice could be heard over the loud cheers. "Now we have a Angel of Balance, ready to face his enemy of Chaos. Please welcome Ethari Xilopent!" Ethari flew out at the end, and drew Elebreth, and held it proudly in the air. On the other side of the arena was Morgo, swiping at invisible foes, baring his teeth. This is going to be an easy win, Ethari thought.
