Title: Path to the Shadows
Description: Chaptor 1, private Exile
sekeolath - June 12, 2007 01:47 AM (GMT)
Sekeolath and Exile soon left Lómëdor westward, towards the Salquedor Grasslands. They moved at a somewhat slow pace, seeing as how Exile was in extreme pain when the left the small .
Sekeolath looked behind to where Exile was walking. "We've been walking for hours now, you must be exhausted. We'll stop here and find salvation over there", The dragon signaled over to a small cave that was fixated under a large hill that was perhaps thirty yards away.
exile - June 12, 2007 02:15 AM (GMT)
"Yes lord Sekeolath, as you wish. I am becoming quite tired. The pain has subsided quite a bit but my body is still aching with the darkness and strength. However I am not weak we can continue if you wish. Do not allow me to delay us."
Exile continued to walk at the slow pace straining every foot step. His eyes remained dull-almost lifeless. His symbol of darkness sent surges of pain throughout his entire body.
sekeolath - June 12, 2007 02:33 AM (GMT)
Sekeolath chuckled at his "apprentice" so to speak. "You are no burden to me as of yet, but you will become one if you do not get your rest. You do not need to act strong around me, but you will need to show me your strength when the time comes", The dragon's voice ran threw Exile's head softly, almost like a melody of words.
When they had gotten inside the cave they found no resistance. There were no inhabitants other the a rat that scurried off at the sight of them. "By my estimation we will arrive at the land of the dead in perhaps a day if we leave early tomorrow. There you will meet my master, who will test your skills in order to find what will make you stronger. But fear not, he will not kill you", Sekeolath said before curling up into a ball in a corner of the cave.
It seemed warm enough to sleep without a fire, so the dragon did not bother to order the boy to find fire wood. Even if it did, there wasn't a tree in a miles radius of the cave so it would be pointless. "Rest, tomorrow we will begin our journey again in the morning. Also do not worry about keeping watch, I need not any sleep, therefore I will watch over you while you sleep", Sekeolath said warmly while watching the boy.
exile - June 12, 2007 02:39 AM (GMT)
Exile followed him into the cave. The dragon told him there was no need to act strong around him. Exile believed it, though he would continue to try to impress lord Sekeolath and his new master. Exile lay down against the wall of the cave.
"Thank you Lord Sekeolath. I will impress the master with my power, after all its hard to even say if I'm even human anymore. They always said I was meant to be a demon..."
With that last word he dozed off into a deep slumber. His eyes shut slowly and he began to dream of murder, And power. Undying loyalty to shadow and evil.
sekeolath - June 12, 2007 02:51 AM (GMT)
Sekeolath watched the young man sleep. 'He really does have great potential, he may even surpass my master. I will have to keep a sharp eye on his training, he must train properly in order to become strong', The dragon thought before glancing around the cave. 'I Guess I'll begin the ever fun job of watcher, this should be "fun" ', Sekeolath pondered before he began his job.
Next Morning...
Sekeolath looked outside to see that the sun was making its first appearance of the day. The dragon glanced over to Exile. "Wake up young one, it is time to leave", Sekeolath's words cut threw to Exile's mind, commanding him to awaken.
exile - June 12, 2007 03:00 AM (GMT)
Exiles dream was cut open and his eyes open up instantly at the very last word Sekeolath said.
"Yea Lord Sekeolath I'm awake."
He said feeling a lot better then he did yesterday. He stretched his muscles and stood up. He brushed the dust off of him.
"So will we make it to the land of the dead today?"
Exile asked calmly. His eyes shown his pain had decreased and he had become optimistic compared to how he acted yesterday.
sekeolath - June 12, 2007 03:10 AM (GMT)
Sekeolath smiled at Exiles reactions to his awakening. 'Most humans would freak out if that happened to them, He is most interesting', The dragon thought before speaking. "We will arive there at the evening, which is perfect for what my master has planned for you. Now let us make our leave", Sekeolath said before walking outside and slowly made its way north-west of the location, slow enough so that Exile can keep up. "Make haste young one! We must not slow down!", The dragon said, looking back.
exile - June 12, 2007 03:22 AM (GMT)
Exile followed him quickly. His eyes shone in the sunlight. It was easy to see he was no longer what he used to be. He was one who turned his back on the light to embrace the darkness.
"I see, His challenge will give me a chance to prove my loyalty. It will also give me a chance to meet the master. I am honored, does he know of our coming lord Sekeolath?"
Exiles hair and cloths blew as the wind passed him. He walked fast ignoring the pain within him. He would make it there to meet his new master.
sekeolath - June 12, 2007 03:32 AM (GMT)
Sekeolath moved at a normal pace for Exile to not feel to much of the pain coming from the shadow mark. "Yes, He knows of our coming, and of you", The dragon looked behind him to look at Exile. "He knows everything that I know, and probably more. You see, I was sent to the town for a reason and, at the time, I didn't know why I was sent. But now I know. He sent me there for the sole perpose of finding someone....you", The voice whispered into his mind. Sekeolath Looked foward again and moved at a slightly faster pace.
exile - June 12, 2007 03:43 AM (GMT)
Exile was amazed. The master knew of him and sent Sekeolath to find him. What exactly was his destiny to become. Who exactly was the master. What did he have in store for Exile.
Exile looked up at the sky as they moved. His pain was not bothering him that much anymore he had become used to it.
The sky was darkening and a storm seemed to be approaching.
"Do you know exactly why the master seeks me?"
Exile said keeping up with Sekeolath's pace.
sekeolath - June 12, 2007 04:03 AM (GMT)
Sekeolath frowned before speaking. "That I do not know. My master works in mystirious ways, and half the time I can't even tell what he is thinking untill everything is one and over with. But this is a different case", the dragon paused before continuing. "The moment I saw you I knew that you would become a powerful warrior if trained. After those thoughts I knew that my master was behind you being there somehow. But enough talking, leave your energy for the travaling", Sekeolath said before moving swiftly towards his master's location, the land of the dead.
Later that night...
They had finnaly arrived at Dori'ba, the famous "Land of the Dead". Sekeolath Looked over to Exile, searching for a reaction to the place. "So, what do you think young one?", the dragon asked before looking back at the scenery.
The area was covered in what seemed to be ruins, with parts of it burnt. There were many ghosts and imps walking around, but they payed them no notice. On top of a nearby hill looked to be a campfire, judging by the smoke trail.
exile - June 12, 2007 04:30 AM (GMT)
Exile smiled calmly
"It looks as if the inhabitants of the land of the dead have Welcomed us into their family. This place is cozy in its own small way. It seems as though suffering and death fill this land as suffering and death filled my spirit when i forsake light. Thank you lord Sekeolath for bringing me here."
The dark place welcomed him. To most it would have warned them, and the inhabitants- the imps and ghosts would have killed those who were not purely evil. Exile however was now truly evil.
He smiled darkly and rose his arms.
"I Feel at home!"
He said warmly.
sekeolath - June 12, 2007 04:42 AM (GMT)
Sekeolath Began to chuckle. "They do not think of you as family, they feel the mark on you and know what it means. That mark I gave you can only be given by the most powerful shades. They known I have an interest in you and they do not wish to interfere", the dragon said before looking at the fire on the hill. "Don't get to comfy, we'll be leaving soon enough I think. My master wishes to speak with you. He is up on that hill, go to him. But be warned, he does not take kindly to arrogance. So show him the proper respect", Sekeolath said before pointing a claw to the hill. "He will be in a dark black cloak, it should be easy enough to find him".
exile - June 12, 2007 04:52 AM (GMT)
Exile fixed his hair knowing he was soon to meet A master of great evil. His green eyes were almost lifeless but he had joy in them. He was happy and interested about who he was meeting.
"Yes lord Sekeolath, I will show him proper respect. A great respect for he is deserving of every ounce of my respect and loyalty."
Exile walked toward the hill. The cold wind pierced through his cloak. He soon saw a campfire and a man in a black robe waiting for him.
Exile got down on his knee- Kneeling to the entity.
"Master."
He said a single word while kneeling. He kept his head down at the ground showing he was not worthy of being in the presence of the master.
His hair blew as a gust of cold wind passed them.
The Watcher - June 12, 2007 05:20 AM (GMT)
The watcher had been staying at his meeting place with which Sekeolath was supposed to arrive at. He had stayed here for two nights now and could feel his shade near. The lich looked around only to see a young man kneeling before him.
'So this is the one I felt near Lómëdor. He seems to have had the mark placed on him by my shade, this may prove interesting', the lich thought before floating in front of the boy. "You may rise. So you are Exile, Sekeolath has talked so much about you when he last contacted me. I see he has marked you", a pause. "Why have you come here with my servant? It says you wish to become stronger, is this true?", the lich asked emotionlessly.
exile - June 12, 2007 06:09 AM (GMT)
Exile rose off of his knee and stood up straight.
"Yes master lord Sekeolath has marked me. I have betrayed all
light for this darkness master."
He looked shocked when the master knew his name.
He then heard the master speak of his reason of being there- Power.
"Yes master I do seek power."
Exiles voice was calm and had little emotion in it. You could tell his
heart was full of darkness.
"I am here to serve you, And in the process gain power. I am here
to become part of the darkness. And to do as you tell me.
The Watcher - June 12, 2007 06:22 AM (GMT)
The watcher laughed heartedly. "Obidient one, aren't we? I expect no less. I will teach you the basics of necromancy tonight. You were given a shade, yes? Call for it", the lich commanded before pulling a small shade covered in large spikes out of a nearby shadow. Said shade charged barely slow enough for Exile to react.
"First rule of necromancy, know how your minions operate. I doubt you have practiced seeing as how my servent was told to come here immediatly", he said, waiting for Exile's reaction.
exile - June 12, 2007 06:32 AM (GMT)
Exile raised his hand up. A shadow appeared out of the ground.
"Come forward oblivious."
Oblivious was the name of his shade. Somehow his shade and him were in sync. It knew all that he knew and he knew all that it knew.
Oblivious moved in front of exile. It's dark prescence filled exile with joy.
It was as he was.
"No master, I haven't had any practice."
Exile said respectfully.
He truly admired and respected The master. One who gave him such power
would always be his idol.
The Watcher - June 12, 2007 06:39 AM (GMT)
"Then now is your first lessen, try and block these with your shade's blades!(I rhyme! ^_^ )", the lich said before his shade's spikes shot out in all directions, four of them going towards Oblivous. "Lets see how in sync you are with your shade", the watcher said before pulling out his staff and smacking ten spikes out of the air. "Now you"!
