Dispater - May 25, 2007 06:46 AM (GMT)
The night has long since fallen over the city of Lomedor, and a silent darkness engulfed the city, only the occasional light of the torches could be spotted here and there. Several militia members were patrolling throughout the city, but they avoided the secluded and the most dangerous areas of the city, it was just a routine patrolling, no big deal.

It was the time when Dispater chose to visit the grand city once more, he didn’t like the crowds because of their curiosity and idiotism, they would have taken him as some sort of mindless demon and would have tried to lure him away, with their ‘weapons’ and fire. << I pity them…>> Dispater always thought, but deep inside him he knew that he envied them, they were not bonded to anything, they were free to do whatever they wished, only their lack of intelligence and will to do something greater was what kept them as insignificant peasants. In fact, he didn’t know what kind of feelings to show towards them humans, he was thinking in contradictory with himself, he was never able to maintain the same feeling for a longer amount of time.

However, humans were not the reason of his visit, but the grand building showing itself before him, a colossal building which in fact was the well-known library of the city. That was Dispater’s target, he wanted to force himself in and ‘borrow’ some tomes and books concerning his newly found passion, other than the affinity for spiders, the element Time. The interest for the time came all of a sudden to him, in a moment of enlightening during his many meditation hours in the Ungol Felas caves. Now that he abandoned the Balance he needed another Element to look forward to. The balance came naturally to him, but in order to face towards time he needed to know several things about it, the library was the perfect thing to satisfy his thirst for knowledge, and seeing as they would not accept someone like him inside, he thought that it was best to go and claim some of the books. He wanted to avoid trouble and in order to do that he needed to be stealth, something that he rarely tried before, he was the one to go in through the front door.

Now he regretted not taking his partner: Tarlak, with him, being a drow he knew several things about stealth and how to hide in the shadows. It was not time to go back either, it was the perfect opportunity, when everyone was asleep.

He darted off towards the colossal building, and outstretched his right hand, a single spell was released from his palm towards the side wall of the library, an ability he developed while living among spiders, a substance similar to the spider web emerged his hand and stuck to the stony wall. The substance allowed Dispater to climb up the wall to the nearest window, through which he entered the library. The spiderweb would dissolve in a matter of time, so he didn’t have to worry about it being discovered.

He had everything planned from before, one of his minions, the tiny scarlet demon studied the library for awhile now, and made a mental map for Dispater to use. Entering through the window seemed like the best idea. And now inside the building he headed straight towards the tome of his interest were located. It was a pitch-black darkness around, and he didn’t mind, he was able to see in the darkness unlike the rest of the library inhabitants. A lonely wizard could be seen every here and there, absorbed by the books in front of them, they were in a world of their own, and didn’t mind paying attention to their surroundings. Even better!

In a couple of minutes, Dispater was exactly where the books of his interest were located, he gave them an eye scan before stuffing his backpack with them, yet he was careful as not to ruin the ancient writings.

Now he was ready to leave and return to his cave. Unless something unplanned happened…

No… no… no… Countless hours of scanning through books and still yet none of them caught her eye. She sat further in the west wing, shuffling through hard thick books she had retrieved from the bookshelf. Half of the books that were on the shelf had been thrown carelessly on the ground surrounding her in a circle, while she sat on a half broken wooden chair, reading ones contents. No… Why the hell do I need to know about the creation of light? She through the book down on the ground near the large pile, reaching for the next nearest victim. She had came to the library to read more about this subject she honestly didn’t get… Yet knew it would help her greatly when in need. It was Balance, and Peace. Okay, so it may have been one of the easiest subjects to learn in ones lifetime—but maybe she was, you know… stubborn? Honestly, she didn’t get any of this—As much as she would like to know, being hard-headed blocked her from having the will to actually wanting to know. So basically it was a bit impossible to actually know the secrets of peace.

Rolling her eyes, she threw the book on the floor, and tilted her head backward, her body slouched sloppily on the chair, legs outstretched before her, and arms almost touching the ground. Her pale eyes scanned up above to the dome like ceiling as she leaned the back of the chair back and forth slowly. Up above would it look like a reflective mirror, her reflection staring down back at her. Never had she met a demon that looked as human as she did—ever. In fact, if she didn’t know better, she would think she was human. Too bad she wasn’t. In fact, she sort of liked her human body… She came amazed at how different her and this partly dead manikin looked. Good thing she sealed herself carefully—She would hate to be so… noticeable in a crowd with her real image branding her life.

She had been in the library for a little while now… And so far nothing has happened besides the wizards and random humans coming in and out, checking in books, and studying like crazy in the corners. It was silent, and dark—everything and everybody still as the night came deeper and deeper through the time. She closed her eyes for a moment, soaking in the music of nothingness, her ears listening for any hint of UN wanting sound. First came the tone of a wizard softly humming to himself as he read a book on rat potions. The second came from outside, a large banging noise that managed to find it’s way all the way to the library. The third was of the quick shuffling of books and scrolls. It seemed to be pointed on the East wing directly across from the aisle she was from, way down the other side of the library. It sounded a bit peculiar… But it wasn’t her to judge, or give any recognition what so ever.

Softly she let out a forced rather loud yawn, at the same time directing her attention to that exact place. Curiosity came to her. What to do? The girl’s interest in this situation could be something appalling… She wanted to see what was going on, see what this culprit was planning on doing. But the other half of her really didn’t care. She had stolen things before—It wasn’t anything new. But watching others attempt of thievery was a bit amusing.

With just that assumption, she got up from where she sat now walking over the books laying still on the ground toward the East wing—her arms casually by her side as she made her way over. It seemed as if this side of the library was darker than the other… why was that? How abnormal. As she past the small lined hallway, she gave one glance at the librarian who didn’t seem to notice anything, and smiled her sweet fake smile. She gave one back like she was a cute little 14 year old, and continued working on her scrolls. gag. Her ears tracked down through the darkness where the noise was being made, and realized it came to a sudden stop. She paused in her tracks as well, and quickly moved silently behind the other aisle, not needing to actually face through the darkness—hearing was good enough. The culprit seemed to stop shuffling [Stuffing numerous amounts of scrolls in his bag] through the documents, and appeared ready to leave.

Ohhh… Stealing books. What a bad man.

Being on the other side, she peeked through the shelf, watching from a far. ”You know… Stealing is a very bad habit. I mean really, think about it. Countless years of designing these books, and just for that, someone just has to come around and steal them for their own predilection. How shameful…” She added with a stress in her voice. ”I mean, if I had something stolen from me, I would do whatever it takes to get it back…”

[[ Hopefully my being here isn't such a Nuisance. =] ]]
