It was a warm day with the sun shining high in the sky and the world glowing with the warmth of late spring. Seagulls were flying through the sky and their voices sounded like music to Merenwen’s ears. A cool breeze was blowing of the ocean and the waves were crashing gently on the beach. The world smelled of salt from the ocean and the sand felt wonderful below her feet. She was back at the beach and she was happy to have the chance to be by the water again.

Merenwen had been to war and seen what it could do to people, felt what it had done to herself. She had seen the blood and horror of it all but she had somehow survived. At wars end she had needed something to cleanse her soul and show her that some parts of the world were wonderful. She had visited her family and spent time with them to show herself that everything was alright but she had needed the water to help her in refreshing her soul.

When she had left her parents again both she and they had cried but this time they were not as afraid as they had been in the past. Merenwen had grown up a lot during her time away and she knew that this trip would also help her grow into the person she was meant to be. She had given her parents a hug and promised to visit before heading off towards the beach, one of the places in the world where she felt true peace. She could soak in the sun, watch the birds fly, and swim with all the ocean creatures.

When that thought came into her mind she found an outcropping of rocks in which to hide her belongings and walked out into the water with her armor on. Many people would have thought her crazy for wearing her armor in the water; that is until they saw what it would allow her to do. She swam out passed the point at which she could no longer stand and concentrated on one of her favorite creatures in the world. Slowly her body transformed into that of a dolphin partially covered in armor.

She swam out further and let herself become one with the water. Her dolphin body moved about freely and she moved through the water with ease. After swimming about under water for a while and looking at the beauty of the reefs she came back up and jumped into the air. Her dolphin body arched up into the air and the sun glinted off both her body and armor. She dove back into the water and continued to again flew up into the air. It was an amazing sensation, leaping from the water into the air, and it was something she would always enjoy doing.

Adam sat back letting the sun pour it's heat down on him. He wiggled his toes in the rich sand of the beach and whistled a tune. It was an old song his father had once sang. Adam thought of his parents as he gazed out at the vast sea. His mother had died giving birth to Adam leaving his with his father, Geo Hawk. Adam had spent all of his life training to become a soldier and serve in the army, just as his dad had done. Still all of that changed when his father had mysteriously died without any trace of how it had happened.

After the thought of his father corpse Adam stopped his tune and stood up. He held back the tears that he had never cried for years. His father had never been nice to Adam and was very strict, but he was family. Adam looked far off at the sea, the sun bouncing of the clear waters. It was a beautiful day, yet Adam didn't seem the least bit happy at the moment. He was just never that happy. Sure he poked funny jokes now and then, but he never really had that much emotion.

He walked down the beach, getting closer to the waters. He walked into the shallow areas. The water was cold, but it soothed Adam. The current dragged him in further and further. Adam closed his eyes, letting the sounds of the ocean ease his body. Still in seconds he had stopped meditating for in that short time Adam had been swept out to sea.

More importantly the young boy couldn't swim! Adam yelled "Help!" but there was no one in sight. "Help!" he cried again struggling to stay above water. Of all the days of being afraid of water Adam had stopped feeling unsafe on the day he went to the ocean. He struggled to stay up above water, but the waves crashed down on him and made him sink down towards the depths of the waters.

As Merenwen continued to swim she noticed that another person had come to the beach. She kept her eyes on the person because she couldn’t be sure whether he was good or bad and she couldn’t just ignore that someone else was there. As she watched she saw him go into the water and what she saw frightened her. He had gotten fairly deep in the water and it seemed that he wasn’t able to swim. She was debating with herself on whether or not she should help him because she couldn’t know if it was a trick but the more she saw the more sure she was that he wasn’t faking it. She could see that he was drowning and knew that she had to help him.

She moved quickly through the water in the direction of the man and when she reached his side she forced herself to speak in her human voice even though she was in dolphin form. It was a little awkward but she needed him to trust her and it would be much easier to help him in her dolphin for then in her human form. She just hoped that he wouldn’t freak out and that he would trust her to help him. If he didn’t then she didn’t know what she would do, she couldn’t watch him drown and so if he didn’t trust her she would likely have to force her help on him.

When she was beside him she said, “Grab my fin. I can take you to shore but you have to trust me. I know that my talking in the common tongue may be disconcerting but if you will trust me then I will explain it all to you later. Please, grab my fin and I will bring you back to where you can stand.” She hoped he would listen but was prepared to take him to shore even of he didn’t.

Adam Hawk - May 21, 2007 10:01 PM (GMT)
Adam tried to say something or at least see who was talking, but he couldn't say or see anything with his constant bobbing up and down. He grabbed onto what looked like a fin, it was blurred with the water covering his face. Adam held on tight and didn't let go. He didn't know why he had to trust a person about saving his life. He was quite confused until he saw what the real speaker looked like. He had first noticed the soft skin and then the strange color it was. Then when his head had cleared from the constant water going into his mouth, he saw that is was a creature. It wasn't a person, but an animal, a dolphin, and more importantly it talks!

Now he had an understanding of why he had to trust the creature. He lifted his body as far as he could onto the animal seeing it was his only hope and then spoke to it. "So get me to shore and stuff O speaking dolphin talky thing," Adam said trying to think of something to describe the creature. He pause for a moment and then added "DO... YOU... UNDER-STAND?" Still after that he couldn't help laughing, and he fell off the dolphin in just ten seconds. He quickly bobbed back up flapping his arms like an angry chick and he hoisted himself on top of the beast.

This was one of the times Adam had acted very foolish, mostly because he likes to act cool to knew people. He always wants a different reputation with each, but most of all he wants to be well known. Still this was not one of his good day, actually he hadn't had a good day at all! So he grabbed on tight to the creature's fin and shouted in his best and coolest voice he could think of: "ONWARD!"

Merenwen Coamenel - May 22, 2007 07:25 AM (GMT)
Merenwen became rather annoyed with the boy after only a short time. The way he was speaking to her was as if she was stupid and that was very frustrating for her. Even if she had been an ordinary dolphin being thought stupid would have still been an insult seeing as dolphins are very intelligent creatures. Also, the “title” he gave her was rather annoying as well. She would still help him but she was definitely finding that he wasn’t the most enjoyable person to be helping. Then again, she had to give him a break seeing as she was in dolphin form and speaking the common tongue; that could be a bit disconcerting.

The other problem that she was having was that he had decided to climb all the way onto her. She was having a difficult time swimming with him perched as he was and would have made it to shore much easier if he would have just held onto her fin and allowed her to swim freely. She had told him to grab her fin, not to climb aboard but he had obviously not paid attention to that with his current situation. As it was, a lot of strain was being put on her by being in the position that she was in and so she was in an even greater hurry to get to the shallows where she could safely throw him off.

When he shouted “ONWARD” at her she made some angry dolphin sounds as she was helping him and found his actions to be a bit annoying. It may have been in her to help all people and creatures in need but even being on the side of good she could still be easily annoyed. She hoped that after they got to shore some things could be cleared up and she would find him to be less annoying then she had thus far but she didn’t know whether that would happen or not.

When she had gotten as far in as she could go without beaching herself she bucked and threw him off of her. He was at a point where he would be tall enough to stand so she felt safe in his not drowning. Once she had gotten him off of her back she decided that the best course of action would be to change back into her elven form. Not only would she then be able to speak with him more easily but she would be able to access how sore she was going to be over the following days. Once she had transformed she looked at him and waited to see what his reaction would be. She stood tall in the water, though tall was still only 5’2” as that was her full height, and her armor shone over top of her light weight clothing.

((Hope you don’t mind the throwing you off part. I guess I figured it would be okay since you climbed on when I said grab the fin not climb on.))

((It's ok, it's your topic))

Adam got up ad then saw the elf standing in the water next to him. He quickly jumped backward in fright, first he had seen a dolphin that could talk and now a transforming elf! Adam then got up and saw his was still in water, his fear returned he he quickly ran out of the current. Still once he reached the dry sands he tripped and fell down in a face plant, covering his body in wet sand. This was not his greatest attempt at keeping his cool.

He got up and brushed himself off and smiling. "I meant to do that," he said still believing he could act cool in front of the person. He stared at the woman for a moment, she was definitely taller than he was and her armor was bright and glowing in the beach sun. Adam walked over to her avoiding making contact with any water for the time being and held his head at a confused angle.

"So now you are a talking dolphin speaking human transformed thingy majigler?" Adam laughed at what he said, he seemed to make everything a joke that day, but then he stopped and added "Thanks for saving me, I guess I still can't swim..." Then he turned away and blushed, he knew he wasn't that cool now seeing that he was both bad at nicknames and basic swimming techniques. Then he nodded, picked up a stick off the ground and hiked down the beach leaving the woman behind. He didn't like to make friends, but most of all he didn't like to be confused. He was very shy when it came to the point of having to be nice. So he strolled down the sandy beach thinking of his day and most of all the strange woman.
