The dead body of a man was lying on the ground, surrounded by the ancient trees of the Taurai Woods. The man seemed to have been a ranger, one of the fierce protectors of the forest, his end though came unexpectedly, by some crazed beast, one of those he was trying to protect all of his life by the other humanoids who with a purpose or not threatened the nature and its creatures. Such an irony, the protector killed by the protected. The man has been followed closely for the last couple of hours by some strange entity, the same entity who was now sitting at his head, in a crossed-leg position, playing a sad, lulling song using his ocarina. The entity was an ominous one, and always brought death with him, the ranger has spotted him, but tried to ignore and shove him away, he tried so hard that he almost lost his sanity in the process, fear had begun to crawl all over his very soul, he was afraid of his life, he didn’t want to die, he was too young for that. But the Ominous would not go away, and just continued to follow the ranger from a safe distance, flying by using his pair of dark grey moth-like wings, keeping the ranger company for the last minutes of his life.

The Ominous entity was a dark fairy, more accurate a death fairy, no taller than 2 – ˝ feet, with pointy ears and slightly pale skin, it almost resembled a miniature elf equipped with the wings of a great moth. His torso was pretty much bare, only a few rag-like bandages covered small portions of his skin. He also wore a pair of pants which seemed oriental in appearance, similar to the pants wore by a samurai, and a pair of sandals. Interesting and weird as it seemed, he was blindfolded, the dark fairy was pretty much blind, and always has been, he learned, though, to perceive the surrounding world through his other senses, developing an unique way of sight. Even if he was never able to see, from time to time he got flashes of images in mind, they were all related to death and souls of those passed away, they belonged from a former life of the Moth, one that he could not remember and was not aware of. He had many names, and all were given by those who saw him and lived to tell the tale: he was often referred as The Ominous, or The Moth of Death (because of his wings), though the name given by his creator, unknown by the commoners was Malak al-Maut.

He was not expecting anyone to show up in the forest and spot him and the dead body, he was not worried that he would be seen once more, so he remained at the head of the deceased one, continuing to blow into his ocarina, playing a song to help the soul of the ranger found its peace and the place on the other world.
