Sunrays beamed down onto the pale faces of Estolad villagers. Was The Village of Estolad a bustling, enter-at-your-own-risk kind of town similar to Lomedor? No. Estolad was a place of peace, for obnoxiousness was not tolerated. Manners were taught to the children at an early age, so when they grew older, civil people is what they would become. Peace had been attained for Estolad for a long period of time, and not a single barbarian or warlord had showed its face here for several months now. Though this did not trick any villager, for they all knew that barbarians could attack at any time.
The villagers of Estolad were very strong. The women were fiercely protective over their children, the children were fiercely protective over their mothers, and the men were just plainly fiercely protective. Soldiers from Estolad were known to be menacing when in combat, for they trained for hours every day. Blacksmiths in Estolad were also known throughout Arda, of course due to the abundance of stone and such surrounding the village. The Village of Estolad was a town of muscle; strong men and woman alike, all willing to die for what they care for the most.
Xelphias strolled through the village, taking in all the sunlight and fresh air. It was a pleasant day out; birds were heard chirping, children were heard playing, and men were having arm wrestling contests, soldiers and blacksmiths alike. The peacefulness the villagers obtained touched Xelphias's heart, though it did not weaken him. The elf had his soft spots, but always kept hard, no matter what. As he walked through the town, he came upon two beggars gambling over a fish.
"Harrharr! Oi ween! Haaharrhar!"
"Wot are y'talkin' 'bout scumbag? C'nt y'see oi won?"
"Arr, foine! Best two out o' three, eh?"
"Agreed!"
Xelphias stood over the two like a pair of children, eyeing them suspiciously. The two men each took a turn rolling a dice. The first man picked up the cup, shook it vigorously, and let open the dice.
"Heeheeharrhaahar! Oi just got eelaven! Beat that snotnose!"
"Gimme the dice you ole pile o' mouse droppings!"
The first man handed him the dice, adding a few insults along the way. The second man shook the cup, and laid down what he had.
"Oi gots twelve, oi gots twelve!"
"You'm cheatin'!"
"Oi'm not cheatin'!"
"Yes you-"
Xelphias cut in, just as they were about to tackle each other. "Men, settle down. No need to forget your manners. Now you," He pointed to the second man. "Let him have that fish, and you go talk to the man over there." He led him towards a shop selling fish. "Talk to this man, and he will give you a free fish. Tell him Xelphias sent you." The man seemed to want to question Xelphias, but the elf walked away.
"Beggars; always getting-" Xelphias was cut off. The main gates into the village were suddenly being banged extremely hard. The gates were rocking back and forth uncontrollably. "Whats going on?" He said to himself. The elf went over to the gatekeeper ontop of the gate ladder, and asked, "What is happening?" The gatekeeper shrugged unknowingly, and tried to peak over the edge. Just then, the man fell backwards, a spear protruding through his head. The weapon was enormous, which made Xelphias think only one thing, Something big out there is trying to get into Estolad. "Soldiers, we're under attack!" Xelphias yelled. Immediately, everyone seemed to be retreating to battle stations. Several rows of soldiers stood back a few yards away from the gates. Suddenly, they burst open.
Everyone was lost for words as several eight-feet tall beserkers came walking in slowly. The elf jumped down from the gate ladder, and stood in front of all the soldiers, trident at ready. A voice, unlike any normal human voice, boomed out:
"I am King Ragago! King of the Ragago Clan!"
It was the head beserker, who was in front of all the other barbarians. He had a crown on, which seemed to be made out of wood, and a tattered tunic with several bloodstains on it. He had a look to him that made you think Do NOT make him mad!, but Xelphias on the other hand, thought otherwise.
Just then, the soldiers seemed to move out of the way as a person walked through the crowd of warriors. It seemed to be a woman. She looked like a real warrior, but Xelphias could not tell. Umbra? The elf thought silently. Either way, this King Ragawhattawhat will leave. By words or by force. Xelphias spoke, and this time, he had a powerful, sternness to his voice.
"You are trespassing on the Village of Estolad. Leave now, or we will be forced to remove you from our village!"
The village of Estolad was seemingly peaceful as a female walked out of a house waving to the woman who went behind her, "Thanks anyway Mrs. Erudne. Tell Tanya I said hello and to come see me sometime." Mrs Erudne nodded and waved back as the young woman walked through the town, "Well Tanya certianly is not able to talk, hope she gets better soon. Well Its almost noon, what else is there to do?" she wondered. The Kaima was always an option, although she could do without the drunken brawls.
Suddenly the echo of banging went through the village and Umbra looked around as Mrs. Erudne came out. "What on Arda is that Umbra?" she said. Umbra immediately went into defence mode. "Not sure. Go back inside, the soldiers can take care of it." she said pushing the woman inside her house. She looked around and headded towards the front of the village. She saw an elf that looked familiar but her attention was drawn to the barbarians. One stood out above the rest. The one with the big mouth, "I am King Ragago! King of the Ragago Clan!" he shouted. "Looks like someone is really asking for it today." she muttered underneath her breath. As she walked forwards the soldiers moved away, they looked at her and the leader. "You are trespassing on the Village of Estolad. Leave now, or we will be forced to remove you from our village!" said the elf. Umbra nodded and moved her hand on the hilt of her sword. She waited for the responce of the leader.
