Title: Axledom Tavern
Chronic Cottenius - March 16, 2007 07:00 PM (GMT)
Chronic had been carrying the elf person for the last hour or so, and his muscles were starting to feel pretty weak. He could tell Nemorac wasn't feel all that great, since they had to stop half way to Estoland for him to get a quick rest.
They arrived to the Axledom Tavern & Inn, Chronic's home. Chronic spotted an empty bench by the door and motioned Nemorac to put him on the bench. You stay here, Nemorac. I'm going to go in, find my dad and tell him we need some help with this elf. Nemorac nodded his head as Chronic went inside the tavern.
The place wasn't heavily occupied, but there were a few number of people in the tavern. Chronic walked passed his mother, who was trying to say greet him, and he went to the back of the tavern where his father was working. Chronic? What're you doing back here? I thought you and Nemorac had left to.. Chronic interupted his father, We were, until we saw this guy fall from the sky. We brought him here to get him some kind of medical attention. Chronic said.
Where is he at? His father asked, He is on the bench outside, Nemorac is with him. His father nodded and followed Chronic outside. Chronic nodded to Nemorac, who picked up the elf's legs, and Chronic picked him up like he had him, and they brought him inside. Several of the patrons gave them curious glances, while other, drunker patrons ignored them. Chronic and Nemorac found a vacant room and put the elf on the bed in the room.
There. Chronic said. Now we got to find someone who can help this person out...
Nemorac Strebor - March 16, 2007 07:18 PM (GMT)
Nemorac nodded to Chronic, slightly out of breath. The elf weighed more than he looked, but that was not important. He wanted to help the elf, and that was all that matters.
"Agreed, but I haven't heard of any healers in this town, especially since I've lived here for quite some time."
Nemorac wondered who could help them. He could not remember any healer being in this town, most people just attended to their own wounds.
Chronic Cottenius - March 16, 2007 09:49 PM (GMT)
Chronic thought silently for a moment. If only we had a healer here. Even a mage who knows a minor healing spell... Chronic's face brighten up. Wait a second. I know a minor healing spell. It may not do that much, but it's better than nothing! Chronic then turned toward the sleeping elf, and began to chant a few words. After saying the phrase a few times, a spell emits from his hands and heals the elf slightly.
Chronic looked over at Nemorac, and said, Maybe that'll help him with his wounds.
Nemorac Strebor - March 16, 2007 09:53 PM (GMT)
Nemorac looked at the elf, watching as Chronic used his minor heal spell. He heard Chronic hope that it would help, and Nemorac replied, his mind calculating the chances of success even as he spoke.
"It's hard to say if it will help or not, since he doesn't seem injured on the outside. Most of his injuries are probably internal. All we can do now is wait."
Nemorac hoped the elf would recover, so he could tell Nemorac and Chronic something about himself, including why he fell from the sky like he did. Nemorac suspected that he was not actually an elf, but could not find any evidence to the contrary, so he kept his mouth shut.
Obelisk - March 16, 2007 10:37 PM (GMT)
Ugh, where am I?
He slowly opened his eyes and gazed around the room.
This isn't Aman, is it? Something feels wrong.
There were Atani standing around him, all watching him.
Atani? Now I know I'm not in Aman.
After struggling to sit up, he slowly shook his head and blinked a few times to clear his mind. "Who are you, and where am I?" he asked.
Nemorac Strebor - March 16, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
Nemorac smiled at the elf, happy that the spell had worked. He cleared his throat, and spoke to the elf.
"You are in the village of Estolad, Axledom Tavern to be precise. I am Nemorac, and this is Chronic. What is your name?"
Nemorac did not want to pressure the elf too much, or ask him too much right away. Nemorac figured that he probably got hit on the head during the fall, so it was not advisable to pressure him with questions and such that would cause him to try to get away from them or do too much.
Obelisk - March 17, 2007 01:04 AM (GMT)
Lucien's eyes widened as the Atani Nemorac told him of his location. "Estolad?" Jumping to his feet, he rushed out of the room, searching for an exit. He hurried in one direction only to realize it was a dead end. After quickly turning around, he ran back the other way, past the room with the Atani. He eventually reached what he recognized as the common room of an tavern. Axledom Tavern? he thought to himself, recalling Nemorac's words. Spotting the door, he rushed outside.
As he reached the middle of the street, he stopped and began to survey his surroundings. Oh my, this really is Estolad. He recognized many of the nearby structures and buildings. Turning around, he gazed upon the tavern. Must be a private place. I never noticed it before.
Chronic Cottenius - March 17, 2007 01:17 AM (GMT)
Chronic followed the elf as he was running around. He stepped outside where the elf was standing, as he was looking at his parent's place. If you don't mind. Chronic began, stepping closer to the elf. Will you please step inside the tavern? I would think it would be best for you to come back inside, so you can explain some things to my friend and I. We were the ones that found you out there, and who knows what could have happened to you if we were not walking by. Chronic gestured the elf to go back into the tavern from where he came.
Obelisk - March 17, 2007 01:38 AM (GMT)
At first, Lucien ignored the Atani's words. His mind was too focused on what had happened to him. I was returning to Aman, he recalled. I had just reached the gates, and then.....
His head snapped upward as everything came back to him. "But.....why?" he asked himself. He now vaguely remembered what had happened to him upon reaching the gates of Aman, but it did not make sense. Or did it?
Chronic Cottenius - March 17, 2007 09:40 PM (GMT)
Chronic raised an eyebrow. This elf was obviously supposed to be somewhere else, and looked as though he was very deep in thought. Chronic thought it would be better if the elf could come inside and sit down, and get his head on straight. Well, Chronic started, If you come on inside, and get your head clear, maybe my friend and I could help you with what you need. Chronic hoped that Nemorac was alright with helping this person. Dragging him around the place wasn't all that great, but maybe helping him out would be fun.
Nesh Psion Spartan - March 18, 2007 10:16 AM (GMT)
Nesh Psion Spartan entered the tavern. It was quite dimly lighted and was filled with fumes. He was looking for someone, an elf. He was told to pass the elf a scroll which had instruction, regarding a mission they had to yet complete. He couldn't find the elf anywhere and decided to turn back to go outside. It was only then he heard...
Obelisk - March 19, 2007 05:59 AM (GMT)
Lucien stopped and blinked a few times before slowly turning to stare at the Atani. It was the one referred to as Chronic, if he remembered correctly. A well-built man, likely a warrior suited for physical combat. But could he be trusted? Did he even know just what he was talking to?
Lucien lowered his head and closed his eyes, focusing on his immediate past. He needed to remember what happened after he had been......rejected. At first all he could remember was a blur, but then he remembered waking during the free fall. Had he managed to.....
He opened his eyes and looked at the Atani again. As their eyes met, Lucien's brows slightly lowered as he tried to get a feel for the man. His intentions seemed honest, matching his words. Lucien decided to assume that they thought him an elf, though he couldn't say whether that would work to his advantage or not.
"Very well," Lucien replied, giving the Atani a slow nod. He looked down at his hand and clenched it in a fist before following the Atani back into the tavern.
Nemorac Strebor - March 20, 2007 02:07 AM (GMT)
Nemorac didn't bother to try to get the elf back into the tavern, as he saw Chronic run off after him. He waited patiently, and watched from the window as the scene unfolded. The elf seemed to be shocked at his current placement in the land, almost as if he did not belong here at all. But, Nemorac thought, he probably did not, being as he fell from the sky like a meteor. When they came back in, Nemorac turned back to them, smiling slightly.
"So, do you mind telling us your name now?"
Obelisk - March 20, 2007 05:40 PM (GMT)
(OoC: Thanks, Chronic ~_~ )
Lucien sharply cut his eyes toward the speaking Atani. It was the one who had introduced himself as Nemorac again. Perhaps I do, Lucien thought to himself. Just because you found me doesn't mean you have the right to know everything about me. And Atani wonder why they're not trusted.
Unfortunately, he was in an Atani dwelling and surrounded by Atani. Making them angry wasn't a good idea. Yet he couldn't just give himself up. Something clicked in his memory, allowing him to slightly relax. "You may call me Obelisk, young Atani," he finally replied. This one also did not seem to have evil intentions, but his general attitude did not appear very pleasant.
Nemorac Strebor - March 21, 2007 01:51 AM (GMT)
As Obelisk replied to him, Nemorac realized he was probably coming off as a little rude. He let Obelisk finish what he was saying, then bowed in apology.
"I am sorry if I seem rude, it's just that it is a bit easier to help someone when you know their name. My deepest apologies for being so rude."
Nemorac started cursing in his mind about how his calculating mind could make him rude to those he did not know. He wanted to help this elf by the name of Obelisk, but something was not sitting right in the way they found him.
Obelisk - March 21, 2007 02:11 AM (GMT)
The Atani's sudden display of manners caught Lucien off guard. However, he managed to refrain from showing his surprise, instead letting his lips curl into a slight smile. "Oh really?" he asked. "A name is nothing more than a means of identification. It in no way defines who or what you are. You stated your name was Nemorac, I believe. But wouldn't you say Atani defines you more than your given name?"
Lucien stopped and pulled a small dagger from its sheath on his belt. It was one of the few things he hadn't lost during the fall. As he balanced the blade on his fingers, he cut his eyes toward Nemorac again. "Why do you wish to help me anyway? And exactly what is it you plan to help me with?"
Nemorac Strebor - March 21, 2007 02:31 AM (GMT)
Nemorac thought for a moment, then shrugged in half-response to Obelisk's questions. He started to walk around the room (as he was prone to doing sometimes) and answered Obelisk's queries.
"Well, in answer to your questions, yes, you are correct that a name is a means of identification. However, I feel it is easier to engage in conversation once you know someone's name. As for why I want to help you, and what with, I want to help you with whatever I can, and hopefully Chronic won't object either. You seem to be an interesting person...and I want to see what else happens to you."
Nemorac figured he was being a little rude again, but started to not care. He was answering questions, and sometimes manners got in the way of the answers to questions. He stopped pacing, and turned back to Obelisk, wondering what his response would be.
Obelisk - March 21, 2007 02:41 AM (GMT)
The smile on Lucien's face shifted slightly yet remained as Nemorac answered his questions. "You want to see what else happens to me. In other words, after seeing me fall to the ground like a meteor, you want to be there to witness any other times I come near to death." This Atani was already annoying him.
He shifted his eyes toward the one known as Chronic. He had remained silent since leading Lucien back into the tavern, but what was going through his mind? Silence almost always indicated deep thought, which could sometimes lead to plotting. Lucien sensed no evil intentions from him, but in retrospect, good intentions didn't always lead to good results.
"Sorry to disappoint you, but facing death is not high on my list of priorities right now," he stated, turning back to Nemorac. "You Atani will have to find amusement in some other source."
Nemorac Strebor - March 21, 2007 03:02 AM (GMT)
Nemorac shook his head, annoyed at how the elf Obelisk was interpreting his words. He figured the elf was not accustomed to dealing with many people, and was defensive in his overall manner. He hoped he could make amends, and set things right.
"You are misinterpreting my words, sir Obelisk. I do not wish to see anyone in a near-death situation, ever. I wish to help people. I apologize for my wording of what I said, I just wish to help."
Chronic Cottenius - March 21, 2007 04:22 AM (GMT)
Chronc turned and noticed the elf and Nemorac exchanging some words with one another. Nemorac seems to be getting on Obelisk's nerves. I better step in. Chronic walked toward the two men engaging in conversation, and said, after Nemorac was finished, Chronic tried to change the conversation around, If you wish Obelisk sir, why don't we sit down and talk for a bit. Chronic offered the elf. In case you didn't know, I healed you up, and as I said before, if it were not for us, you may still be in that ground out there, and you may not have been found for a few days or so.
Obelisk - March 21, 2007 04:33 AM (GMT)
Lucien momentarily stared at Chronic before shrugging his shoulders. "At least it would have been more peaceful. Right now I have people wanting to help me when they have no idea what I need help with." He quickly folded his arms across his chest and turned so that his back was to both Atani. "Besides, I'm a quick healer. I would have been fine."
His last statement was made under the assumption that they did not come after him to finish the job. He honestly couldn't see why they would, though. Their point had been to keep him out, not kill him. Well, he would stay out for now, though he had no intentions of giving up. He simply had to regroup and think of a new plan, something that didn't involve prodding them.
Chronic Cottenius - March 21, 2007 06:12 AM (GMT)
Chronic frowned for a moment. This elf obviously did not like the fact that he was surrounded by people he did not even know, and were trying to help him. Chronic could understand why. This elf did not really trust them enough to use their help. Being polite didn't seem to help either. You know, Nemorac, Chronic began, talking loud enough so that Obelisk could hear him. I guess that Obelisk will be alright by himself. Why don't we get going to the Ancient Tower? Chronic glanced at Obelisk and noticed his back was turned.
Maybe, Chronic thought, Mentioning the Ancient Tower could get him to go with us. Then again, maybe it won't.
Nemorac Strebor - March 21, 2007 10:28 PM (GMT)
Nemorac turned to Chronic, glad for his interruption. He started to walk towards the door, motioning for Chronic to follow him.
"Yeah, you're right. I do want to see what's in there, and I know you're curious as well."
Nemorac was slightly disappointed that he did not have an opportunity to learn more about Obelisk (something about the whole situation just did not sit right in Nemorac's mind), he decided it was best to just carry on as they were going to before they met the elf.
Obelisk - March 22, 2007 03:27 AM (GMT)
"Good," Lucien interjected, turning his head slightly so he could see the two Atani. "You two can go on to the Ancient Tower, and I'll be on my way. I have things to do anyway." After a slight wave of his hand, Lucien left again, this time more set on what he was about to do.
As he walked through the streets, he realized that he needed to find a safe place to check his wings. "I can't risk anyone seeing them. Better to be thought a Sindar than Celestial," he muttered to himself. After making sure no one was following him, he quietly slipped out of town.
Chronic Cottenius - March 25, 2007 08:28 PM (GMT)
Chronic watched as Obelisk left the tavern. Chronic couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. He hoped that the elf's problem had something to do with the tower, but looking back on it, Chronic assumed that it was just mere coincidence that he landed there. Feeling as though their little adventure had gave no reward, Chronic nodded toward the door and said to Nemorac, I guess he'll be fine on his own. Come on, Nemorac, we should head on to the Ancient Tower. If we are lucky, maybe we can make it there before night fall. Chronic headed out the door.
Nemorac Strebor - March 26, 2007 12:51 AM (GMT)
Nemorac turned and looked toward Chronic, a smile on his face.
"Well, come on man! If you are waiting on me you have got lead in your pockets. I hope we encounter some enemies, I want to try out this magic missile I have been studying."
Nemorac was positively ecstatic about actually doing something. He wanted to go, and he wanted to have an adventure. The "elf" Obelisk had piqued his interest, but since he could not explore that route any farther, he was going to just have to occupy his time and energy with something else.
