Title: Peaceful Afternoon
Description: Private

Ryder - March 11, 2007 09:50 PM (GMT)
The day had gone rather smoothly, and for the most part had been nice. The sky was blue and a breeze was blowing, so overall it was a bearable afternoon in Lomedor. If anything, it could’ve been considered peaceful. For once there were no depraved hollers and shouts in the city streets, and overall there was really nothing going on in general. It was a lazy day for most people. Even the shopkeepers seemed to be closing early so they could have a day to rest. It was a rare changed, a bit out of the ordinary, but it was nice never-the-less and everything seemed more vibrant.

Ryder thought so, anyway. He had come to Lomedor earlier the previous day and had found a room in the Wilwarin inn. The trip from Estolad, and before that Ondolond, had been an easy one. Only a bit of rain a few days prior had made the trip uneasy, but he was happy to be back in a town he half-way knew. He supposed it had been a few months since his last visit, and before that an entire year, but he had to go where the work took him. There was little more he could say to justify his absence, for he had long-sense gotten over the horrors the town had brought him as a child.

After a long-night’s rest Ryder finally awoke around noon. He hadn’t unpacked his things yet, but chose not too. He simply washed himself in a tub that had been place within the secondary room, an empty space, and he dressed himself in worn clothing. Slowly he was growing out of his clothes, even thought he was far past the average growth period for humans, and so he supposed sometime during the day he’d need to go to the tailor. Luckily his last endeavor outside of the Nandgrith had been productive, so he decided to indulge himself whilst he was in town, but not before a meal.

He dressed in a button-up shirt, which was nearly too small to fit his broad shoulders, and a pair of pantaloons along with knee-high leather boots. His hair was pulled back, and the dirt was washed from his face. He did not take his weapon, for the two handed sword would stick out far too much, so instead he took a book. Ryder looked noble enough, so head made his way downstairs catching the eye of several people.

In the tavern Ryder took a table nearby a window, letting the clean and crisp light shine through the window onto the pages of his leather-bound book. A waitress came quickly and without apprehension, and smiled broadly to show her slightly off-white teeth. Ryder responded with a smile of his own. Without her asking, however, he said, “Your special for the day, I believe, is roasted duck with a basket of bread and a mug of ale. I’ll take that, if you please.” She looked startled that she didn’t have to say anything, and a bit sad, but went off to fetch his lunch quickly and without question. Ryder began to read as he waited not realizing that a few of the “burly” men had taken a callous interest in him.
