Title: Practise makes perfect

Winter drew one of jer katanas and swung it experimentally, it felt good to have the fell of the handle beneath her palm although it was no use unless she was actually using it. She looked up at the pole with several soft bags of sand wrapped around it and secired with rope, she was using this to train herself in cutting objects in half with one swipe. She held her ktatna in both hands and raised it into the air level with her eyes so that from the side it was going parallel to her vision. She leaned back a bit on her her legs, feeling her calves stretch in the process.
She then threw her weight forwards and swung the katana in a swift but fluid motion, the movment brought her right to the other side of the pole, her back leg stretched out behind her and ended on tiptoes, her katana was now held in just her left hand and was hovering behind her, both her arms were spread out wide. She panted a little, having put all her energy and momentum into the strike. She turned around and looked at the pole, she'd managed to clice a very clean cut right through the middle and now there was a pile of sand at the bottom, the top half of the pole lay just a few feet next to her.
Winter smiled and raised her katana again, going for a lower stance with her katana hanging by her side now, she ran forward and pulled the blade upwards using as many muscles in her arms and legs as she could use for wielding a sword, she felt the metal silce through the pole creating a diagonal slit in the top, she then raised one foot into the air and span on the spot, bringing her katana around again and cutting an opposite diagonal in the wood, it spilt apart and created a perfect upsidedown 'V' with what was left. Winter stowed the katana back in its scabbard on her back and smiled at the result. At least she didn't have to pay for this.

Cecelia sat on her roof cleaning her fathers swords. After slitting the throat of a cow she had the job of cleaning up the knives and while she was at it she cleaned the rest of her fathers collection. She didn't mind it, made her feel like she had power. Also, once she was done she would sneak off and play with them, not that her father cared.
It was around noon as Cecelia finished one of the swords and had nine more to go, not including his small daggers and knives. It was a beautiful day, nobody could see her on top of her roof. So she heard all of the latest town gossip. It was satisfying. Cecelia watched as people bustled about with their daily lives. She looked into the field that laid close to her home. She loved listening to the farmers to what they would have to say about the crops or the weather or something small but meaningful. Although, today, the farmers weren't talking about the crops, or the weather, nor something small. They were talking about a murder that had occurred in town last night. Not many people know about it yet to prevent panic. Cecelia listened carefully. It had been the Mayors daughter . A young little girl whose mother died years ago. They said that seven other little children have been killed in the nearby town. Evidence has still been yet to be found but they don't want to say anything until they have some sort of hold.
Cecelia looked at the dagger she was cleaning. One side was smooth yet sharp, while the other side had pointed ridges on it like a saw. The Dragon design showed whose the dagger's owner was. Cecelia swung it around a bit and gripped the handle firmly. She wiped off a small little smudge and looked at her reflection in it. After much zoning she slide it into it's pouch and she attached it to her belt.
Cecelia, finished with cleaning her fathers swords stood up straight and stretched. She picked up a couple of the swords and took them down to her fathers cabinet two by two until there were non left on the roof. After she was done she laid on her stomach and played with the dagger some more. She then noticed a girl with a sword on her back coming into the town. Cecelia looked around at the other children who were playing with dolls or playing with toy swords, she then looked back at the girl and gave a shrug. She walked to the side of her house and climbed down the ivy which adhered itself to the wall over the many years. Cecelia Walked up to thi girl and introduced herself.

Since there wasn't much of a post left to practise on, having been cut too short for more practise, Winter turned around and walked away and out of the training grounds. Once outside she looked up at the sky briefly, it was still light so she may as well kill some time before it got too dark for her to stay out. She'd heard that there was a town nearby, so she thought she may as well head over to it and see if she could find something to eat. Slicing things to bit always gave her a bit of an appetite.
She looked back down and began walking in the direction of the town, while she was walking she thought carefully about what she was planning to do in the future, despite how strong she was right now she still wasn't strong enough to take on that vampire for a second time, she would have to wait until she was and then she'd take him on again, this time on her terms. She looked up and saw that she'd come to the town she'd been looking for. For a moment she stopped and looked at it from left to right and smiled, it looked quant enough, and she wasn't going to give up an oppertunity for a decent civilisation around her.
She walked into the town quietly without drawing much attention to herself, which was hard to do with blue hair and eyes and an 'X' style scabbard mounted on her back with two katanas on it. However she ignored most of the people weather they were giving her funny looks or not, although from the ones she did take noticed of, they seemed to be talking about some kind of murder recently of somebody important. Winter didn't think this had anything to do with her though. She kept on walking until one of the townsfolk walked up to her, a girl as it happened, and introduced herself, probably wanting to make a few friends at random. Witer put on a small smile.
"Hi," she replied "going somewhere?"
Tyrant Cecelia - March 11, 2007 04:33 PM (GMT)
"Hi, my name is Cecelia. I couldn't help but notice your two Katanas. Are you going somewhere?" Cecelia asked. The girl seemed to make Cecelia feel like she really didn't care about anybody herself but maybe Cecelia was looking into things. "I was wondering." Cecelia began. "Do you practice a lot with your Katanas? Because I've been practicing with knives and daggers and my dads swords if I can get away with sneaking them off!" She said with a grin. "I wanted to know if you'd like to train with me. I know a perfect place in the woods. I work with my dad cutting logs so when I have time I cut my own logs and pretend their people." She said smiling because she knew it sounded childish. "Anyway would you like to train with me sometime in the future?" Cecelia finished.

Winter looked over at the girl, slighty surprised, although it didn't show on her face. If she was hearing right, however, the girl had requested to practise with her, Winter didn't really have any objections to this but she did find it odd that a father would trust his daughter with a collection of swords or daggers, and as it happened it didn't seem like a wise choice. However Winter wasn't going to intrude on a person's personal livelyhood unless she really needed to.
"Well alright," she replied "I've been needing to practise against a live target anyway."
She pulled on the strap fastening her scabbards to her back to pull them higher up her back as they were beginning to become uncomfortable and looked back at the girl.
"You any good?" She asked lightly, she wouldn't want to go full on against someone who couldn't use a sword properly for fear of hurting them when she didn't want to, unless she did want to that is.
Tyrant Cecelia - March 11, 2007 07:50 PM (GMT)
"I've practice by myself but not with other people. I personally think I'm rather good!" Cecelia said trying not to sound vain. "I might be a little rough being raised with all brothers so once I get into it I'll kind of forget I'll be training." She said. "Let me just get one of my Dad's older swords. It's nice to have a dad who trusts you with his swords!" Cecelia said excited. She turned around and waved her hand forward signaling the girl to follow her.
Cecelia stepped into her house and quickly ran upstairs and grabbed her fathers not as sharp older sword. She jumped down the stairs and ran past the girl who she invited into her house for a brief moment. She took a piece of papyrus out from a desk and grabbed a feather and dipped it in ink. On the paper she wrote:
Dad, I borrowed your Elven sword to practice with. I'll be home before dusk
Cecelia
Cecelia placed the note on their kitchen table on top of the small loaf of bread that was left.
"Alright. I'm ready. Would you like to practice now?" Cecelia asked.
