Title: Sunning
Description: (open to one and all!)
Ayenna - September 4, 2005 07:59 PM (GMT)
At high noon, the day was a warm and cheery one with the sun shining and the birds singing. Well, not just the birds singing. In fact, a dragon—half dragon rather—was singing. Her voice wasn't the best, though it wasn't the worst either, but if one knew this Halfling, they would be surprised at her choice of song.
"I'm a dreamer.
Where does the light of dawn pour down?
I'm a dreamer.
Dimly white, that smile touched me somehow.
That sunshine doesn't touch this place,
this secret place where you can cry all alone.
As if I were screaming, I call out your name,
If you weren't here; if you were here."
Ayenna turned onto her belly to stretch out on the large rock she'd picked to sun on, the light causing her polished copper scales to be an even more brilliant sight than they normally were. Her double-tipped tail began to swing back and forth in the water as she let her skull fall back to rest on her crossed forearms.
"Surely, I'll go to that place where the sunshine touches.
It can't end like this; we still have promises.
That far off path, that straight path,
If you weren't here; if you were here.
Surely, I'll go to that place where the sunshine touches.
It can't end like this; we still have promises.
That far off road, that beam of light...
Because you are here; If only you were here."
She trailed off with a sigh as the song ended, her slate gray eyes shifting from side to side as she searched for something or someone to occupy herself with.
Eriniel - September 4, 2005 10:29 PM (GMT)
Eriniel strolled along the side of lake. The warm sun gleamed in her brown hair, defining the lines of her braid. Her green eyes scanned the deep blue waters, and she felt calm, always a welcome feeling to the human. This was probably the fifth time she had visited in her travels, but she still saw many new things there.
I would probably have to have been born at the Beginning of Time in order to not see anything new here, and even then...
Her thoughts were interupted when singing reached her ears. She hid herself behind some brush, and looked over it in what she thought was the general direction of the source. Her guess was correct, as she saw a figure laying on a large rock on the edge of the water. The sunlight reflected off it like metal, and the wanderer blinked a few times dazzled by its brightness.
The song Eriniel enjoyed. It actually related to her in a way, and even though the creature who sang was probably not the best, it seemed that it was really into singing the song. The young woman resisted the urge to join in with her pipes. When the song ended, she grinned. It was very good in her eyes.
She maybe have not been able to see the figure clearly, but she could tell that it raised its head, and she ducked again, hoping the brush she hid behind was thick enough.
Ayenna - September 5, 2005 12:57 AM (GMT)
Ayenna raised her head, looking around as she heard rustling in the underbrush. 'Is someone there?' She wondered, blinking in confusion. When she heard and saw no one she sighed, a great exhaling of breath, and let her head drop back down again. One clawed hand idly reached up to scratch at the base of one of her curling white ram-like horns as she started on a new song, completely different from the first.
"You're the dirt of the ground Oi walk on,
You're pond scum under my heel.
Just try disobeyin' my orders,
Oi'll feed ya three feet o' black steel.
It's a crime to despise the Sergeant,
No matter what 'e thinks o' you
Be sure not to spread your opinion
Or you'll wind up for sure in the stew."
Whether it was normal or not for all of the dragon race, Ayenna's voice changed, melded into a whole new one if you will, as she sang the second song. Don't get me wrong, it was still her average voice singing it, but it held a new quality to it; the Accent being an add on.
"Whoo, bored," she whined suddenly after a few moments of silence. "There's nothing fun to do!"
Eriniel - September 9, 2005 03:48 AM (GMT)
Eriniel sighed quietly when she wasn't discovered. She sat and listened intently to the song. It was a sharp contrast to the previous, but it had quite a catchy tune to it. She was surprised also by the sudden change in accent, which she considered a gift. The silence that followed the creature's soft comment seemed to call to the young woman to play upon her own instrument.
After a few short moments, she succumbed to it, and quietly shrugged of her bag, and pulled from it her pipes. They were wooden, and bound together by a band of steel. She took another couple moments, thinking of a song while moistening her lips. She then took a breath and blew over the tops of the wooden tubes to produce the note she wished.
The song was rather cheerful, and had quick flying notes, which Eriniel had taken a while to master. It was a favorite of her's and she had played it for many people in several village pubs. As her breath danced over the pipes, her thoughts wound back on the path she had taken. All the moments of her travels gathered in her memory were played back.
The young woman finished the song, and stood from her hiding place. She knew that she had blown her cover the moment she placed the first note. Hopefully, she thought, the love for music they shared would keep away any conflict.
Ayenna - September 13, 2005 11:53 PM (GMT)
Ayenna's head had snapped up at the first sounds of movement but when she heard the music of the pipes, her head slowly sank back down to her forepaws. She listened happily to the fast, catchy tune, her slate grey eyes momentarily closing as she was lost in the music.
When the song ended, Ayenna clambered to her feet, folding her wings across her back and hoping down from the large sunning rock she was perched on. She made no move to come closer to the musician though, not wanting to scare her or anything.
"That was very pretty," Ayenna announced, looking at the human woman who now stood in the underbrush. "You're very talented!"
ooc: sorry it's short, I couldn't think of anything but I didn't want to make you wait a few more days until I came up with something... Hopefully, my next post will be better ^^
Eriniel - September 18, 2005 12:24 AM (GMT)
Eriniel slowly turned around. Her gaze a downcast because the sun was still in her eyes. A smile crept up on her face as her thumb ran over the wood of the pipes. "Thank you. You are as well."
She bent over and got her bag, then carefully steped from the underbrush towards the half dragon. She put her precious instrument back in the pack, then slung the bag over her shoulder. As she did so, she spoke casually to the stranger.
"What, pray tell, was your reason for coming here? I haven't seen anyone else here among this wonderous scenery the times I've visited."
((Now it's my turn to appolgize for taking so long, and having a short post. ^^; ))
Ayenna - October 9, 2005 01:24 AM (GMT)
“Whoo! Thanks!” Ayenna grinned, though the expression looked more fierce than happy. It might make more sense for her to switch to her other form, that of a human, but Ayenna had been two-legged and land bound for so long that she had near forgotten what it felt like to fly.
“Sun bathing dearie! This lake, that very rock in fact—“ she paused to point back to the large rock she’d been resting on ”—is the perfect place for it! Especially on days so nice as this one!” She smiled at her again, her white fangs glinting in the sunlight. “And I agree, no one ever comes here! It’s peaceful but it gets boring too.. Why are you here?”
“Oh! By the way, you can call me Yen!”
(ooc: oh gods, I'm so very sorry for taking so long to reply.. School has kept me very busy! >< )
