Title: Getting used to it
kai_fox - February 13, 2007 03:48 PM (GMT)
Kai had never ridden a horse. Fact was, he'd never had any interest in riding a horse, or in equines in general. Why should he? He was a fox, he had four legs himself if he needed them.
Yet here he was, sitting low on the war horse that every member of the Syndicate of Blades had received and doing all he could both to stay on and make sure the horse was doing what he wanted it to, followed high above by his phoenix, Menelura.
And after a few moments...well, he slipped off. And by the odd kicked-up patches of sand further back down the beach, one could easily tell that this wasn't the first time it had happened.
Getting up and dusting himself off as well as he could, he knew full well that there was still plenty of sand stuck in his fur, not to mention his yellow vest, held open in front, and matching yellow, somewhat baggy pants were getting rather dirtier than he much liked.
Sighing and coming up with a fairly decent idea to get cleaned off...well, get his fur cleaned out at least, he summoned a small, light whirlwind around him with a light twirling motion of his fingers, which, while it indeed flowed through his fur, blowing it around and removing the particles of sand that were buried in it, also kicked up sand around his feet.
Muttering, he decided to simply forget it and plopped himself down on the sandy coast, watching as the sun began to set, joined shortly by his phoenix and not interested in giving horse-riding a try until perhaps tomorrow.

Jen and her companions walked along the beach shore. Jen was alittle excited to be here at night. She gazed at the water as she rode her nightmare Bloodreign. Moonlight hit the water making it shine beautifully. Talis was flying overhead and would occasionally splash the water as he flew above it. Her Alu cat was already swimming in the water enjoying himself. That just left Jen, Bloodreign and Fayt to enjoy walking along the beach. Her nightmare usually looked grim with sign of life but today Bloodreign seemed rather pirky. Maybe because she was riding him.
As Bloodreign walked along the shore he seemed to notice something. Jen didnt really bother to look she was too busy enjoying the peace and serenity of the beach. She listened to the waves crash up on the shore. A Phoenix just a head of them brought Jen back to reality. She saw it fly down to what appeared to be a fox man. She couldnt really tell since there was a war horse infront of him from her angle. Talis and Arshis stopped playing around and made there way onto the shore. Bloodreign walked up until he was about a good five feet away from him.
Arshis walked up to him and started to purr. He sat down right infront of him. Fayt stood beside Bloodreign and Talis stayed behind them.
"I think he likes you." Jen smiled up on her Nightmare. "Its so peaceful out here. I havent been to this beach in a while...i just love it here. My name is Jen. What brings you here?" She added in a friendly tone.

Glancing over in faint curiosity as he caught...well, a few smells just down the beach, a bit hard to pick out because there were so many, Kai noticed a creature that he vaguely recognized as an alu cat wander up to him, sitting in front of him and beginning to purr. Smiling faintly, he began to scratch it lightly behind its...well, ears, they could presumably be called.
"My name's Kai," he said in response, looking over to the girl that had walked over to him, clearly the owner of both the cat and the two horses nearby, a nightmare and what he believed was a Syndicate war horse, as well as a gryphon behind them. Certainly a fair amount of animals to tend to. He didn't recognize the girl, though...probably one of the blades. "Was...well, trying to get used to riding, but it'll probably take a while. Really not something I'm used to at all."
Nor something that he had much use for...but he let that part stay to himself.
(eh...maybe not as long as I'd have liked...)

Arshis purred loudly as Kai petted him on the head.
"Its nice to meet you, Kai. Well it does take a while to get used to it..." Jen replied dismounting her Nightmare. For some reason Bloodreign seemed content and not the usual nervousness he seemed to show around new people. "I fell off Bloodreign a few times before getting used to riding." Jen added remembering how dangerous it was riding her Nightmare. "Well....it was more like everytime I got on my Nightmare he would try so wildly to get me off. But he soon warmed up to me and everythings fine now. He was somewhat of a wild horse."
When Jen first got Bloodreign he threw her off of him everytime she tried to ride him. It was a few weeks before he warmed up to her.
Jen turned to look at Fayt her war horse. "It was nice of the Syndicate to give us a war horse." She smiled figuring he was from the Syndicate since he too had a war horse simaliar to Jen's.

"True enough, though really I'm not sure Silnimare could think of anything else to get everyone," he said, mentioning the current leader of the guild by name, though in truth he didn't recall even meeting him yet. He'd met Sanzen, the previous leader, even sparring with him once despite that he'd lost, and Garath before him...he'd even met Melandro, the leader of the blades and the one who almost gained the spot at the head of the guild. He'd seen plenty of people come and go throughout the guild, and now of its old members he was fairly certain himself, Ploay, and Melandro were the only ones left. Oh well...nothing really to dwell on.
"So...if you don't mind me asking, why'd you join the Syndicate, anyway?" he asked, looking over to her as he continued to absentmindedly stroke behind the cat's ears, noting his own war horse trudge off closer to the grassy forest nearby to graze. "As for myself...well, really, the neutral sect was the only thing that ever fit me back when I was first looking to join a guild, so I joined the Syndicate shortly after it was created. Now I'm one of the three oldest members left from back then, I guess."
Jen Cerolinia - February 18, 2007 02:25 AM (GMT)
"Nah, I dont mind you asking." She smiled. "I dont really know why. I just wanted a guild that would acept me. Sanzen helped me join. i just needed a place where they would accept a good vampire." She looked at her war horse. "Im not really sure what Sect...Im in...i guess nuetral too....since my allignment is neutral."
Jen thought she saw something out of the corner of her eye. She took a quick look back and saw nothing.
Hmm...i could have swore I saw something back there. Huh. Jen thought.
She turned to Kai. "Did you see anything just now Kai?...I thought I saw something out near the water...maybe it was just nothing."

Kai nodded. He'd met Sanzen on a small few occasions, and seemed to get along well enough with him. Though if Sanzen helped her join, she was probably in his old faction, the Blades. The only faction that mattered in terms of alignments were the Acolytes, neutral-aligned folk dedicated to Threnody.
Acting on what she'd said next, Kai looked over to the water in mild curiosity, not even bothering to sniff around to try and see if anything was there...if it was in or on the water, it would be impossible to smell even with his senses anyway.
"Hm...I didn't notice anything, though never can really tell. If it wasn't near or in the water I'd probably be able to tell if anything's around by smell, but since it is or might be...well, I can't," he said, scanning around for a few moments, keeping his ears perked up and alert for any sounds that might arise nearby apart from the faint washing in of the waves from the ocean. "As for Sanzen...too bad he's not still with the Syndicate, but I suppose he probably had his own reasons for leaving," he continued, looking back to Jen while still keeping his other senses alert.
Jen Cerolinia - February 18, 2007 04:01 PM (GMT)
"Thats alright. I didnt know Sanzen left. Hmmm. I havent talked to him for a while though." She said wandering why he had left.
I know I saw something.... Jen thought taking a look back at the water. She scanned the water for anything suspicious. I know its out there......I just know something is.
Talis also turned around scanning the scenery. Now she knew something was out there if Talis was looking around. Bloodreign walked forward away from the group and seemed somewhat nervous. Next came a growling noise and thats when Jen definately knew something was out there. Jen drew her bow and knocked a barbed bolt just incase something tried to attack. Talis also prepared for a fight and Arshis began to hiss. She looked to her left and saw two fairly large Raptilons. They were as dangerous as the bigger dragons but decent enough opponents.
"I wander how they got out here?" Jen said turning to Kai. "Looks like we're in for a fight, Kai."
