Title: Taking a wrong turn
Description: open
Tenshi - February 11, 2007 01:19 PM (GMT)
Tenshi's first thought when he saw the webs spanning between the trees and littering the floor was quiet literally Eew, the place was nearly completely taken up by web after web, almost like a jumbo sail of hammocks, only slightly stickier ad more disgusting.
"Now why did I come here again?" Tenshi asked himself.
He looked behind him and saw something moving in the shadow of the trees, making large thundering footsteps as it drew nearer.
"Oh yeah," Tenshi muttered "that was why."
Without taking a second glance he ran forwards, ducking beneath a tangles web above his head and leaping over one lying over the ground in a vain hope to catch anybody walking into it.
"How do I get myself into these things?" Tenshi muttered.
He ducked under another string of web and noticed that there was a large spider hanging just behind it, he ducked and rolled beneath it as it snatched at him. Suddenly the troll that had been chasing him ran into sight, crashing through the webbing and roaring, it ran into the spider and knocked it aside breaking its back against a tree.
"That is one nasty temper you have," Tenshi said.
The troll swung at him and Tenshi ducked, drawing his sword at the same time. After another failed swipe he ran at the troll and leapt up, landing on its shoulders, it swung about for a bit trying to work out where he's gone until Tenshi stuck his sword through its skull.
"There," he said satisfied "that should shut you up."
The troll swayed and Tenshi suddenly realized he was still on top of it, he pulled his sword out with an unpleasant squelch and leapt off, landing neatly on the ground just in front of it, the troll keeled over and crashed into the ground, causing it to shake slightly. Tenshi walked up to it and wipe his sword on the corpse before he put it away again.
"Right, now that that's settled," he muttered "how do I get out of here?"

Lothemadel chuckled at the witty wanderer. He approached and greeted him, "I am Lothemadel, wizard, but mostly a summoner. How are you today?" He glanced back at the trees and undergrowth crushed underneath the trolls massive weight. "And," he added,"congratulations on killing this troll!" he said, pointing to the reeking corpse to the left of the aquaintances.
"Well, it seems your lost," Lothemadel said. "I heard you mutter it."Well, I am to and maybe we should work together on getting out of here. It is getting kind of dark." When finishing this statement, he tapped his staff to the ground, and a magnificent, pure light sprung forth, illuminating far and wide. Reaching out his hand he asked, "So, are you in?"
Tenshi - February 12, 2007 12:39 PM (GMT)
Tenshi reached up and scratched the back of his head watching the stranger, he seemed to have come out of nowhere and yet he was speaking as though he'd been there all along and Tenshi had known about it, still at least he wasn't trying to maul him unlike some large smelly corpses Tenshi could name, speaking of which his looked back and saw a spider creeping over it already.
You're welcome to it mate, Tenshi thought.
He turned back to the wizard and lowered his arm, then assumed his usual expression, a broad and rather stupid looking smile.
"Well, I guess you do have a point there," he said "mind you I didn't get lost on purpose; you've got him to blame for that." He pointed at the troll.
He took the hand that Lothemadel offered still smiling.
Sounds a bit like the goddess of life, Tenshi muttered although he's probably no relation.
He let his hand fall and looked around, taking stock of his surroundings.
"So, any ideas?" He asked briefly.
He looked at the nearest tree, it wasn't covered in as many webs as everywhere else so it was worth a shot, Tenshi grabbed a branch and hauled himself up so he could see over the tops of most of the trees blocking his view.
"Well, if you want to be in the middle of miles and miles of trees you've come to the right place," he said calling down "but I don't think you do so..." He jumped down, landing next to the wizard. "What? Oh yeah, my name's Tenshi," he said "if it helps."
Silvaris - February 13, 2007 02:51 AM (GMT)
"Lotheamdel, and about what we should do, I suggest we start walking." Lothemadel said with a smirk. He looked at Tenshi with grim look. "Not to be rude, though, or a smart alec."
Lothemadel tapped his staff on the ground. Light sprung forth from the tip. "This will guide us in case of darkness. But hopefully, we can avoid enemies and not worry to much about the night" Lothemadel's head began to reel. The terrible stentch and odor of the corpse was making him nausous. "Let's get out of here,"
Lothemadel walked a few paces, and noticed that not only the dead troll reeked, but something else. He pointed this to Tenshi "Do you notice it, perhaps? Or am I older than I remember?"
Tenshi - February 13, 2007 12:06 PM (GMT)
Tenshi shrugged and leapt down from the tree, watching spiders fighting over the troll's body.
"Well, as far as I can see there's nothing else round here," he said "but evne so I say we should be walking in that direction," he pointed just past the toll "less trees that way."
He walked in that direction and one of the spiders snapped at him.
"Oh give over," he said.
He turned back to the wizard suddenly thinking about something.
"Hey, err, Lotheamdel? How did you end up here?" He asked "You weren't bieng chased by trolls as well were you?" He chuckled and turned back around glancing back down at the trolls body as more of the larger spiders began to drag it into the trees. "You're welcome to it," he muttered "I doubt you'll live long after eating that anyway."
Just before they disapeared into the trees one of the spiders hissed at him and carried on dragging its reeking dinner into its den, Tenshi waved a hand in front of his nose.
"Well, that's one thing off my chest," he muttered "Or off my nose at least." He chuckled and turned back to Lotheamdel "you coming?" He asked "like I said there's less trees this way."
Silvaris - February 14, 2007 03:28 AM (GMT)
Lothemadel began to walk with Tenshi. "Nice observation, the trees are more sparse that way." He said. "As for why I am here, I am actually making my way to Dori'ba. The land of the dead. I am meeting a friend there, to combat the unnatural, the living dead. But if the stench of that dead troll makes me reel." He said pointing to the corpse of the troll being mutalated by spiders."Then I am in trouble being surrounded by a lots of walking bodies of rotted flesh, souless monsters of the netherworld. Condemned beings, never allowed to move on to the after life." Lothemadel voice began to the crack.
"I can't imagine what souless, heartless necromancer could animate bodies to do their biding. It makes me so infuriated!" Lothemadel shook his fist violently in the air. "Even worse, is liches. Wizards who try and jump the barriers of mortality. Sacrificing their skin and becoming only resemblences of life. This is disgusting. Joining the undead, to become a powerful, immortal wizard......it's it's just wrong." Lothemadel was silent for a long time afterwards.
Tenshi - February 14, 2007 11:55 AM (GMT)
Tenshi listened calmly whilst leaning casually against a tree, wondering why somebody would be going to the land of the dead willingly, the slight coincidence was that he'd just managed to get back from there and had then found himself being chased by a mad toll, which of course brought him here into a clearing full of spiders, most of which were fighting over the stinking corpse of a troll as though they'd never had food before. However he ignored them as best he could and slapped a spider trying to bite him on the shoulder.
"Well, you're welcome to it mate," he muttered "oh and if you meet a bunch of kinda lame zombies led by a guy named Gaira, just give them a break they're barely worth fighting, seriously."
That particular set of zombies being the ones Tenshi had met when he was there, although they weren't all they were cracked up to be and when Tenshi had left them they had been in a groaning pile thinking of getting new jobs.
"Well, good luck anyway," he said pushing himself off the tree "course we do need to get out of here first," he muttered.
He looked through the trees in the direction he'd suggested, maybe if they followed the trolls footprints backwards then they'd come to where Tenshi had been when it had started chasing him, but Tenshi tracking skills were non-existent.
"Well, better now than never," he muttered and set off.
Silvaris - February 17, 2007 03:40 AM (GMT)
Lothemadel nodded. So he began to walk. As he walked, he began to talk to Tenshi, "What are you doing in these woods. This isn't nesacarily the most common part of Arda. Or populated part." Lothemadel didn't really know much about the backround of his companion. "Please," he asked Tenshi polietly "Can you tell me about your backround. And maybe I can share some of mine along the way."
