Title: Christmas in Arda
Description: everyone's invited ^.^
Lance - December 23, 2006 03:24 PM (GMT)
How little the demon in human form known as Lance knew about human holidays, human customs, human culture, even after living in the mortal realm a few years over twenty. But here he was in Lomedor, planning to do something for everyone in Arda, only allowed in the city due to his newest appearance change, in hopes that nobody would be able to attribute his current appearance to the incident a few days past, in which he'd caused minor havok in his full demon form, temporarily Drake once more.
Now, wandering the streets of Lomedor, the white-haired youth, garbed in a short, open-fronted white t-shirt lined with a golden tint, a pair of white gloves with blue outlining that reached halfway up each finger but his thumb and halfway to his elbows, and light blue, almost white pants, Lance had to learn a few things about the culture first.
Feeling and no doubt looking and sounding like a fool, he'd asked extensively around the city about the upcoming holiday known as 'Christmas', and despite people looking at him like he was born under a rock, he learned plenty about it. And thus did the plans to set it up begin, two days prior to the actual day it was celebrated.
First came the tree, which he'd went to the Taurai Woods to get a nice pine tree for. Chopping one down easily with one swing of his well-sharpened katana, which from that point on he'd left hidden in the woods themselves so as not to seem a danger to anything on this pleasant-sounding holiday, he was spotted by a druidess who immediately went off on him, complaining about the natural cycle of the woods and a tree's life and a bunch of things he hardly really understood. It was only thanks to his good way with words that he was able to convince her to let him off, and even use her own magic to temporarily stand a gigantic pine in Lomedor square, replacing for the moment what usually adorned the center.
Back in Lomedor, he signed a local mage to make glowing lights of all colors appear scattered across the tree, permanent fixtures until it was to be removed, emitting little heat but a good deal of light. He'd heard something about 'ornaments' lining a tree as well, but didn't have a clue what those were supposed to be, so would leave it to whoever wanted to do something about it.
Then was the food for the feast. Heading to a few local restaurants, he killed off almost all the money he'd accumulated, mostly unused with the exception of a few meals, drinks, and inn stays, and more recently funding of his guild's construction, signing most of the local restaurants to spend their time making all of it. One seemed to be short a hand or two, so he'd volunteered to help out, feeling that cooking couldn't have been that difficult.
It was a few hours then that he'd massacred a few corn cobs, somehow managed to incinerate a full turkey, and overall make a mess of things. If not for the generous amount of money he'd paid for the food and services, he likely would've been kicked out of the restaurant forever, not just for the remainder of the holiday season.
Then finally, after giving word to three people nearby that the party would start midday on Christmas Eve, the next day, word that would naturally sprout wings and fly itself to the corners of Arda for all to hear, he'd seeked out this person called 'Santa Claus', who seemed to be primarily for the gift-giving. Hiring a smith first for some short work, a wide chair with red velvet cushions, made of silver and lined with gems, almost a throne, was placed in front of a tree. He'd heard something about this 'Santa' sitting children on his lap and asking what they wanted, though he wasn't really sure if something so elegant was even necessary. Regardless, he'd paid for it and it was there, so it would have to do.
Christmas Eve, he returned there before everyone else, surveying the scene. The lights were still burning brightly, guards had made sure that the food, scattered across multiple tables with desserts, turkeys, corn, and various other things Lance couldn't identify, was still fully intact. Now it was just time for people to arrive.
The most wondrous time of the year, indeed...even looking upon this scene, in preparation for people to come and be together, and exchange gifts, and whatever else, Lance couldn't help but smile slightly. It really wasn't such a bad thing that he'd strayed from his path after all.
Roleun - December 23, 2006 04:03 PM (GMT)
Roleun was very happy indeed. For who couldn't be happy on such a wonderous day, in such a beautiful scene? The food was plenty, the tree was beautiful, the snow was glistening in the winter wonderland.
His dove, Dyrim, was flying in circles around the tree, asking him to hang up some ornament, since there were none on the tree. He could feel the dove's heady happiness infecting him. Truly, he was almost drunk with pleasure. The dove cooed, and though to most it sounded like an ordinary dove, Roleun heard his familiar's voice in his head. Rolo, look! See the lights? Do you smell the food? It's wonderful... Are we going to hang around for the party? He smiled. Dyrim knew how much Roleun didn't like crowds, but the temptation was too much. "Of course we are." He said aloud. Then he turned toward the only other person he could see in the area.
"Hello! Are you the one who set all this up? It's amazing!" He shouted, walking toward him. With a bright smile, he held out his hand. "My name's Roleun, but my friends call me Rolo. It's nice to meet you, Mister...?" He waited for the other man to supply his own name.
Dark Wraith - December 23, 2006 06:54 PM (GMT)
A light snow began to fall as Xoco walked in his human guise through the streets of Lomedor. The humans were celebrating the Solstice, and the entire city seemed to be covered in strange traditions. They covered dead plants with large glass spheres, placed intertwined pine branches in windows, and they all seemed to be happier than normal this time of year. Xoco shrugged. He wasn;t exactly in the spirit, but he had heard tell of some free drink and a snow battle in the square. Not knowing what else to do with himself on this bitterly cold day, he had decided to drop by and see if it was worth his time. He almost chuckled. Free spirits were always worth his time.
Even as a spirit, he enjoyed his drink. It was one of the few human pleasures that he could indulge in. His cape and long white hair swayed in the slight winter breeze as he strolled out into the square. What he saw surprised him. A large tree had been erected in the middle of the square, and magical lights glowed with a substantial glimmer all around it. Xoco still couldn’t see the delight in merry-making around a dead tree, but he was still looking forward to a party. “A Wraith needs his entertainment,” he thought. He smiled as he noticed several people busily stock-piling food onto a rather large table. He was one of the first people to arrive, so he figured he would hang around and watch the festivities. He noticed as a particularly burly man set down a keg of ale on the table, next to a wide array of various flagons. More casks of spirit followed. Xoco smiled, grabbed himself a drink, and then sat down to watch the preparations for the large party.
Everything was turning white with the covering of light snow that was drifting down from the sky. Xoco smiled, ready for a party. This was one of the few times that he took it upon himself to indulge in such… impractical enjoyment. He would return to wandering in the name of Chaos the day after Christmas, but for now, he was looking forward to some entertainment, food, and most importantly, drink.

A scream was heard from the air, as a wire began to shake. Then a jolt of air slid shakingly down the wire on a band of rope. It was Yoro again. He was up to some more games. He then saw an oversized Christmas Tree. "Celebrating the season eh?" asked Yoro to himself. At once, he released and dropped to an awning, where he bounded up a bit.
Yoro began to then fall once more, however, this time, he grabbed the side of the awning. He then had an idea. He jumped backwards, heading towards the tree, and didn't grip it. Yoro just dropped below. When he was near the ground, his rope was tied to his bone hilted dagger, and an arrow. The arrow was in the bow. Yoro released it, and the arrow went into the above brick. He quickly held the dagger when it came back.
He finally stopped, inches away from the ground, and swinging. Yoro set his feet down, and tugged on the rope holding the dagger and arrow. The arrow released from the wall, as Yoro untied the rope, then turned to the tree. "This is my first Christmas to ever decide and celebrate with others," said Yoro. His eyes began to water.
It was true, he had never at all gotten to celebrate Christmas. He was alone all of the time. Of course, when he was with the elves, he didn't celebrate. He just sat down alone and watched. He was always lonely, and nothing would ever had changed- at least, that's what Yoro thought.
But he was wrong. This would be his best Christmas ever! Nothing, not even the end of the world would change this. Yoro grinned at the thought of saving the holiday from Chaos. This would be great.
Cyra - December 24, 2006 04:09 PM (GMT)
Wandering silently just outside the city she'd heard of called Lomedor, her talon-like feet crunching softly on the snow slowly building on the ground, the air around her filled with little white flakes floating downward, Cyra couldn't help but marvel at the sight to be seen from what seemed around the center of the city.
A massive pine tree, bigger than she'd ever seen, decorated with various, probably magical, lights of all colors. That's right, it was Christmas Eve, wasn't it? A fitting day to celebrate in high spirits, meet new people, exchange gifts, and have fun. Regrettably, she hadn't any money, and thus any gifts to potentially give, really.
"Come on, I don't wanna miss this!" Cyra said cheerfully, pivoting on one foot to face behind her, clasping her hands lightly behind her back and smiling brightly. Even from out here she could smell food of all sorts, though she preferred to shy away from meat, especially bird meat. Of course, she was a bird of sorts, more specifically an avian, so that probably wasn't much of a surprise.
And since she'd been in Arda, she'd been travelling with a half-elf, Nephilim. They'd met after she fell into the water just off the coast and had been close friends ever since.
DragonRider - December 24, 2006 07:01 PM (GMT)
Shadow had been in Lomedor for a few weeks now and he heard about a party. "Hey a party on Christmas, it is about time something happened here that sounds familiar to me." Shadow went to an inn and rented out a room. He went up and removed all of his equipment. He then changed into a formal clothing that he would be comfortable in. When he removed his armour, the tunic under it had been dyed red becuase of his own blood turning it that color. So in doing so Shadow washed it and it still was red but it was still ok for him to wear, besides red was a color for christmas. He finished changing folded his wings over his body and just clipped his serated chakram to his side. He then walked out of his room and locked the door to itleaving his posseions inside. He then left the inn and then walked around until the party started.
Shadowblack - December 24, 2006 07:35 PM (GMT)
Yoro snagged an orange from the table and took a bite out of it. "Maybe I'll see someone I know," he said aloud. Maybe Lance, or that Kitsune, Kitsu-Chan, Az, or maybe even that chaotic angel. Perhaps it would be the puppet. It would be a great party to run into someone.
Lance - December 25, 2006 11:27 PM (GMT)
Well, the Christmas Party had officially started...and so far one blood-red eye only surveyed three people that had arrived, one of whom he'd actually met before, the other two being strangers to him. The one he'd met was around some of the fruit, another, a wraith, was indulging himself in a drink, and the third had come up to him, introducing himself, which Lance had to snap himself back to attention to really notice.
Cascading over most of the general area of his right eye, which was covered by a dark blue headband, Lance's hair was now white as the snow gently drifting to the ground, not strongly enough yet to actually stay there for but a moment as it quickly melted. The rest of his appearance, save for his wings and tail, he'd made sure was no longer dark and intimidating. To run a guild like he'd formed, it didn't pay to look any bit threatening, but instead welcoming.
"Hello! Are you the one who set all this up? It's amazing!" the man who'd come up to him shouted, which wasn't completely necessary, smiling brightly and holding out his hand, which Lance shook gently. "My name's Roleun, but my friends call me Rolo. It's nice to meet you, Mister...?"
"Name's Lance, pleasure to meet you," he said. '...though this thing cost me practically everything I had...I probably don't have more than thirty gold left...' he thought, keeping this secret. "Hope you and everyone else that arrives enjoys themselves, and Santa should hopefully be coming at some point."
